WSJ: Activist Investor Takes Control of Southwest Airlines
Industry NewsA real risk that they ruin Southwest by abandoning its differentiators.
One of the differentiators is blowing up like a hand grenade right now. Open seating and the Air Access Carrier Act are not compatible with each other now that the fake preboard abuse has been popularized.
Another thing I don't like are the no frills snacks. I'm tired of them and I always turn them down. On the other hand, I love the Delta's Biscoffs. I personally don't like airline lounges, but Southwest has been absent from the popularity of lounges and ways to monetize them and that part of no frills on food is costing them potential customers.
Another problem is that fast turnarounds don't exist anymore even without the fake preboarders slowing things down.
More of my flights have stops and fewer nonstops (point to point). It's not much of a point-to-point airline anymore. Nonstop is the #1 reason I choose Southwest.
The legacies are removing the differentiators too like no change fees and free bags (by holding that airline's credit card).
Southwest, the airline world has changed a lot. You guys need to react a lot faster with the changing times including the Boeing excuse. Both plane manufacturers are slow, not just Boeing.
ok then don’t fly southwest
