As a Ridley main, that is certainly weird.
On a similar note, I've seen people who cut Pit but kept Palutena, cut Diddy and kept K. Rool, cut Marth but kept Lucina, cut Ryu but added Chun-Li, and cut Mega Man but added Zero.
Cutting ryu but adding. Chun li is understandable. Both of this are equally as iconic
that's like replacing Mario with DK (if DK wasn't already there)
