Im 52 and I play, with that said, ive met many younger kids in school still, in college etc be it USA or Overseas. I get asked my age upon new introductions but I have 2 daughters myself. One 30, the other 22. Neither play, but as a Mom, I find it easy to make friends with others, offer help and my time for them to enjoy the game. Ive never hidden my age, but keep conversation positive, uplifting and ive been a good listener. Im fortunate that ive met good kids on there. Some are so funny and ive lost wings on many occasions letting them lead, but its ok. Its about having fun and relaxing. 

Im playing sky since january 2024. I have friends younger than me. We're playing together. I dont think they mind the age gap. By the way im 42

I usually just make sure they know my age indirectly, though I mostly met friends who are around my age. But I do have a very close friend who is around 10 years younger than me. We have been friends for years since we were moth. We talk a lot and we are doing great. I feel like the length of the age gaps aren't really a problem if both parties are respectful and comfortable with it. Because I had a friend who are 28 yo and I dont feel comfy with her while there's a 50 yo I once friends with few years ago and I always looking forward to talk to her!

I have a friend in sky who is very young compared to my other friends, I still stay as friends with them as long as they're comfortable with it, but I added their age to their name so I remember to stay age appropriate around them because I tend to forget people's ages otherwise (I'm turning 25 btw)

Don't worry, I'm 18 and I have some friends that are 40 and have kids. Our sky friend group has such a big variety in age that we called our discord server the sky family. No joke, one of my bestie is literally a 58 years old with kids that are in college.

But that's what I love about this game: No matter how big of an age gap there is, a friendship still can be formed with a single interest that is this game.

Personally I feel safer playing with older people on this game because I know it's a very safe environment. Most adults that are playing are parents with their kids or people who are interested in the game for many different reasons, kinda like animal crossing. It's just a fun, relaxing, cozy game with some challenges here and there to make it interesting.

I have many friends who are older than me some are 30 to 40 when I found out I was surprised but didn't care bc we all still care for each other our age means nothing to us but we care what kind of person that is but that's just our option there are still people who think differently

I am also 39. I play with a lot of teens. They know my age and it doesn't seem to bother them. I am actually concerned like a mom to them. If you want to have a friend close to your age gap, I am open to make friends and help out if needed. Just shoot me a dm and I will send you a code or you can.

I’m in my mid twenties, I just try and keep the conversation PG in general. Online interactions/friendships are hard to navigate imo it’s best to keep things light until you start developing a deeper connection/friendship.

I would say definitely don't bring up the topic of age like right out the gate lol. If they're curious then I usually answer as a common courtesy, but for the most part the topic of age rarely comes up in my conversations. I will admit, it has led to some funny interactions tho, like when I sat on a bench with a player that said they were 5 years old, or a player I'd just made friends with casually mentioning he was about 80 years old

I'm 26. I avoid asking for ages mainly because unless we're becoming good friends, having a conversation with someone is harmless at any age. It's a different friend/conversation dynamic when you factor in age, especially with underage people.

I've made friends at all ages on sky and the community is so loving and giving when it comes to friendships. I have a friend around your age and I have a really good friend who's 16. As long as conversations and relationships aren't changing to romantic before asking age, you're fine. Sky was meant to bring us all together, regardless of age.

It really really depends for me. I started playing when I was 20 and now I’m 25…. The players I met where around 14 - 16 . If vibes are good I just say my age. But I generally just like RP In my skylit character

just basing on my experience. You don't actually have to ask or tell them your age. If they ask to and you dont want to share, its fine.

and personally, these are the usual scenarios i have encountered.

1. Once I get to know their age I tend to get concious on things i say or the age gap concious

2. I seldom wanna know their age, for me to make sure they aint a kid or maybe ask their age range so that I can censor some words or prohibit myself from saying certain words especially when talking to a kid. And I have a very weird humor that kids may not be able to comprehend

so I tend to no ask their age if not necessary. or maybe build connection first before asking personal questions.

Im 32 and have adopted the adoring nickname of 'gramps' from some of my younger friends on there lol. The age gap doesn't bother me at all because I rarely use the chat and if I do its always casual light hearted fun.

I have talked to people of all ages on sky. Just be yourself and respectful. People generally dont care about your age.

It is good that you are aware of it, I feel a similar way. Unless they start bringing up topics I am not comfortable with I usually do not mention it, if they do and I don't know their age I ask, and then If they are a minor I communicate that I am not, and that I am not comfortable with that type of conversation, and they should be careful. Usually that stuff never comes up, and if it does we are already pretty good friends.

I don’t personally have much of a problem with older players, the only time it’s been an issue is when they start acting creepy with me and I tend to block the second I pick up on a bad vibe, but that’s only happened once. Though most of the time it’s not older age groups that are the issue for me. I’m 18 and regularly play with someone who’s like 35(I call him my dad because he is genuinely a father like figure to me in game). Usually the only issue I have is typically children, most often people 15 and under, as for some reason from my experiences, always have really in appropriate behaviour. It’s gotten to the point that if I find out someone is below the age of 16 in my friends I will often automatically block them, unless I feel like they are fine.

In terms of teens or kids asking your age, some of them are respectful about your age, others don’t ask out of courtesy. As long as you don’t try anything untoward, you should be fine. I personally don’t give out my age right away unless they ask.

I like playing with older player more cause they are more understanding and it's easier to chat . But with younger kid I always have to act cautiously like saying some slang and other things ,so I start by asking what is their favourite cartoon etc so I would know how young or old they are .People mostly find it creepy when someone said their age or ask age due to reasons but for me it's so that I can avoid kids.

Not been playing long. But I’m 28. I play with people mostly younger. Some in their 20s, but others younger. But I’m just helping them do their dailies, maybe chat a wee bit.

Key thing to keep in mind. As long as you’re not flirting. Just playing the game, helping others. And sticking to topics that are safe. It doesn’t really matter. That said, if you are worried about it, you can always ask them in advance.

When I play with kids, I just sort of “adopt” them… I’m their sky dad or sky uncle for the day.

personally i do not care. sometimes i play with a little girl that i babysit, sometimes i play with people 15+ years older than me. as long as they aren't weird (i have met some weird people in my couple years of playing) then so be it!!

I never say my age but will tell the truth if people asked. I think I’ve only met one player older than me. Usually I’m older than everyone, but it’s also mostly light conversation so I don’t feel too bad about it.

I tend to not disclose my age until it feels appropriate or the other person asks. That being said I have no issue playing with others who are older than me though I’m 19 and definitely not the youngest demographic, I actually think it’s kinda cute when someone mentions their kids or something. Having players of all ages makes the world feel more rounded out imo.

I usually don't bring up my age (18-21). It usually doesn't matter for me. I've met someone older, they mentioned their age to me in a conversation instead and I was pretty OK with it.

I’m in my late 30s myself! I have met a few around my age range but the majority were in their late teens to young adults. My experiences have been pleasant so far, my closest sky friend was 15 who called me his sky mum! He’s now 19 and we don’t play together much now as we both got busier.

I usually don't comment, but I do have my own ways I guess. For context, I'm almost 23 (Will be on July 16th) I have some younger friends on Sky, and I treat them like I would a younger sibling. I try my best to keep my younger friends away from anyone I find creepy, thankfully that hasn't happened, and I hope it will never happen. I give more online safety advice, mainly because a kid on another game telling me their address out of nowhere, and barely knowing me. I don't want that to happen ever again. And I do give other kinds of advice if needed. Really, I try to be a big sister figure for my younger friends. Cause I was supposed to be a big sister, but she didn't make it out alive. So, being the big sister figure helps me be the big sister that I never got to be.

I’m 33 and I’ve found that ages usually come up in the first conversation.

I remember when I joined my first forum at 14, becoming heavily involved, and the adults who modeled proper internet etiquette and safety for me. It set me up for success in a lot of ways.

I now try to be that adult for other folks.

I'm also 39. I know the majority of my sky friends are significantly younger. Sometimes I have to coach them in tact. Sometimes they randomly tell me their age. It is weird and uncomfortable. I just try to hang with my adult friends mostly. (And my daughter who is 11 and also playing)

while i dont chat with them much, i think its very fun to meet people of all ages and locations. better to be upfront tho

I'm 32, but I admit that I usually state that I'm 25. The reaction difference is astounding when the kids assume I'm closer to their age (this is just for strangers tho. If we've become friends past the small talk and actually played together more than once, then I'm more comfortable being honest)

Edit: after reading so many comments, I'm starting to think maybe I just had a few unlucky bad experiences. I'll try to be more upfront about it, cuz y'all are right: if they avoid me for my age, we shouldn't be friends anyway!

I am 60 and I have a little friend in China (I am in the US) Who is probably about 12 or 13. He often will come and get me when he goes to bed to hold his hand in Sky while he goes to sleep. 😴 it’s the cutest thing. I think it’s so precious that someone across the world is comforted by holding their hand in Sky and putting on their manta lantern while they fall asleep. I don’t know if he thinks I’m another child or if it really matters to him. Perhaps it’s just a human connection? Either way, it’s a beautiful connection and absolutely innocent. It’s the sweetest thing to sit next to another sky child and hear their heartbeat. 💓 we really are a global family.

My son is on Sky as well and we both have been playing for quite a while and absolutely love it.

I had a few friends which got pretty close after playing a few weeks to months together and they started to distance or straight out left when they learnt there's a difference of about 10 years in age.

After those encounters I always disclose about my age first whenever a stranger approaches me and want to be friend with me. I'll explain that it's okay if they mind the age difference and it's better if we just go our own ways if they happened to mind it so we don't waste our time on something that'll fell apart in the future

I don't think it's odd!! I started playing around 2020-ish. I've made friends who are sometimes 45 or even 60! I love them, very lovely people and they're like mother figures to me. I'm turning 22 soon and I found that age doesn't matter much to me when making friends.

I’m in my late 20s, but I can tell from what my friends talk about and how they talk about it that they’re likely a fair bit younger than me. I just don’t really bring it up. I talk about the game, or what music or games I’ve been into lately. I don’t discuss personal things.

I don't feel it's odd to find our if I'm chatting with an older guy cause I'm used to it, I have plenty of friends older than me whether by a few years or a decade 😃👍

I'm in my 20s, one of the friends I frequently play with the most second to the one who actually introduced me to the game is in his 40s (mid at the lowest). I've known him for years now and he doesn't seem to mind the gap and neither do I. I'm used to being around older people most of my life mainly family and friends, I like listening to their stories, seeking advice, etc. Although I'd advise younger people to not give out their ages to strangers.

When i started playing the game at around 16, my beat friend turned out to be 27. I didn’t mind, but he had similar concerns to you. After a while, he stopped playing and didn’t tell me. That was 3 years ago, and i still miss playing with him.

For me personally, as long as nothing creepy is said, i see no issues with playing with various ages.

With my Friend, we brought up age after we became pretty close in-game. But honestly as long as there aren’t any ill-intentions, age really doesn’t seem like something which necessarily needs to be brought up at all..

I feel like Sky is a great game because everyone is playing on an even field. Everyone’s playing with an alter ego : their skykid character, and personality and friendship is all that matters.

I'm gonna be honest, all of the people I've chatted with in sky are above the age of 25

I don't chat much with others in the game but when I do I always tell them I'm an adult. That way, they know up-front I'm not a kid and make the call themselves if they want to keep chatting. As far as talking to kids online I just got at like I would if I was giving them a haircut. I'm a hairdresser and have to talk with kids all the time. I really think it would be nice to have kids and adults on separate servers so no one had to worry

I’m 24, and I found the people I naturally ended up meeting up with daily were between 17 and 25. This question did recently cause some drama in the small sky discord server I host, which originally started as just the core group but has since evolved into friends of friends and adopted moths. Being 24, I became uncomfortable when I realized we had at least one 16 year old in the server given the types of discussions and jokes being made in discord chat by adults.

I want to make it 18+, some other members feel that is unfairly agist or over precautious. It’s not a resolved conversation as of yet.

I'm a 50 yo female. I've been playing since October. I only know the ages of 2 of friends that I play with, both are under 20. I have no issues playing with anyone of any age, male or female. There are some that feel certain ways about playing with others with a big age gap. But I feel like as long as no one is being creepy, or making others feel uncomfortable, then it shouldn't be an issue. Actually had a male player, back when I first started playing, tell me that I was too old to be playing video games. I thought it was funny, cause I didn't know there was an age limit..lol

I really appreciate this thread! I'm a new adult player (in my 40s) and have been a bit nervous around this question. I don't reveal my age, but I do tell players I'm an adult. Some of the kid players don't seem to mind, mainly because we're just helping each other out in the game, not really chatting in-depth. I definitely keep things G rated with everyone, regardless of age. I am here to enjoy the community and the game and not make things awkward, hard, or upsetting for anyone. So far, people have not been put-off, those who've asked, and mostly we just enjoy flying around :-)

As a 35 y/o person I wonder about this too. Especially when I find out I’m talking a teenager. I generally keep my convos very surface level & game-focused, but I do feel the responsibility of making sure people feel safe.

I'm in my 30s! I've friends of all ages and genders, youngest is 6 oldest is 70! I actually tell people my age up front and ask if they are comfortable sharing theirs. I add their age to their name so I know in the future.

The beauty of this game is that you can be as anon as you want. You don't need to tell anyone your age, name, gender etc etc.

If people ask, you have the full right to say that you don't want to share that info.

I don't talk with many people, but I know that I have played with 11 year olds aswell as 60year olds, at least tha tis what they have told me, I have no way of knowing if it's the truth or not, and honestly, I don't really care.

I don’t share my age at all. It makes things awkward; I get that people would want to be more comfortable knowing someone else is an adult so they can also be less wary of topics/humor, I am simply alright with keeping everything clean. I can usually get a sense of peoples general age and appropriate “level” of conversation after knowing them for a while, so I tend to match that.

One time I joked about being in my 70’s like and my friend was surprised as she was in her late 60’s and hadn’t ever met someone older than her before and someone she could relate to and talk with about things, because she either didn’t know or they were too young. I felt really bad for that. 

Sometimes if someone shares age unwarranted and they are close to me, I’ll also share if that helps them feel safe.

I’m in my 20s, I wouldn’t be upset or uncomfortable to interact with older players. I mean, for a game as good as Sky is, I’d hope to see a varying audience of players, you know? lol

absolutely not. (as an 18 year old player) I would much rather talk to someone who has an understanding of things than a 9 year old who speaks nothing but incomprehensible gibberish, which has happened MANY times

I just turned 30 and I mostly spend my time in the Les Petit Moths discord, it’s a server for older Sky players.

I don’t bring up my age because I don’t interact with a lot of players unless I’m friends with them. And even then I don’t bring it up unless it’s relevant. I keep things friendly but firm.

If someone tells me their age first and they’re under 18 I avoid them. I prefer to interact with adults anyways lmao

Funny story, I made friends with a Sky couple a few weeks ago and we finally unlocked the ability to chat recently. They’d seen my nest and told me “it looks too good, you’re definitely not a child” and asked how old I was. They then told me they were also in their 30s!

I also have a few actual kids on my friend list. They don’t seem to think it’s weird I’m an older player. I just treat them the same way I would a friend’s kid.

I’m in my early 30s and will always share if asked—

I am pretty much always grinding for candles when I play and in the past when I have chatted with a younger person it changed the tone of the game play for me instantly.

I block friends who want to unlock chat share they’re a minor—basically we are not peers and our life experiences, priorities, and attention spans are wildly different.

I try to ask myself these questions:

If I was a parent, how would I feel if my child befriended a 30-something stranger and spent time with them regularly?

Is it possible that the kids growing up playing this game will look back and think: I spent some formative years talking with older people when I could have been spending time connecting with people my age?

This one is important to me, due to my childhood Misadventures in AOL chatooms— If you were chatting with this person that you met say, on discord and they revealed that they were a minor, would it change how you interact with them? For me, I wouldn’t continue the conversation—I’d likely wish them well and disconnect.

Sky is a game, and I get that it’s generally very wholesome, but I personally can’t conduct myself in a MMORPG in a way that I wouldn’t IRL

I am 24, my friends are around my age or younger (the youngest being 15)

I find that talking to the younger friends kindly and like I would talk to a person my age is the best way to go because they are people before they are teens, although I sometimes practice my "older sister" energy on them and ask them to take care of their eating and sleeping habits on the condition that they agreed to me being their "older sister" in the first place :D.

While I don't treat them like babies, I am mindful of how their age can affect their reactions and world-view, so when minor conflicts or arguments happen in the friend group, I try to be the "older person" because they are, in the end, teens, and they can be self-conscious and impulsive and excessive in their emotional reactions, and I totally accept that because I was a teen not so long ago and I understand that all this age needs is tons of patience, love, acceptance, a big listening ear and mindful treatment because I can't take their impulsivity personally, they are still learning how to live and this comes with a ton of mess :D

I'm 30 and usually with my husband in-game so they at least know I'm old enough to be married, haha. I am always honest about my age. I have a younger friend who started calling me their Sky mom, lol. I usually don't run into any problems but I once had a 15-year-old tell me I was too old to be playing Sky. 😅

I don’t usually bring up my age but I do drop hints like “yeah my husband sometimes plays” just to indicate I’m a full adult. And if I find out a friend I made is really young, I never jump to them to join them, but they’re allowed to join me and hang out. That’s kind of my etiquette. Babysitting can be a chore 💀

i’m 16 and i’m friends with a 27 year old! she’s super nice and despite our language barrier (aka the bad translations), we get along very well and are always excited to see one another. I usually hop on her shoulders while she flys me around for my dailies. she loves the music i play as well. i prefer to know your age, basically what i ask first but if you’re comfortable with my age and i’m comfortable with yours, we could play for hours lol.

I'm 34 and willing to reveal my age when asked. Most people ask when I mention that I'm about to go out to walk with hubby as being married clues them in real quick. I've never been treated as weird about it.

When I was in high school I would go to a game shop after school to play Magic the Gathering, D&D, Mage Knight, and a couple of TCGs and it was normal sometimes in D&D to have a player at the table as young at 6-8 and players in their 20s and the DM to be in his 40s. I kind of think of Sky as like your local neighborhood game store and wouldn't find the age gap too odd as long as the adult is behaving responsibly. Just be kind and compassionate.

I just started playing last week and I am 30- my mom also started playing last week and is 64. Her 66 year-old sister is also playing now. But none of us chat with random players! Is that a common thing?

I would find it incredibly weird if someone brought up their age when we first met. Everyone in Sky is simultaneously six and my grandma’s age, and I treat them with the according respect and G rating. But then, I don’t love being asked my irl country as an opener either and plenty of people do that, so maybe I’m just weird.

I'm 32 and I've found people around my age and older will almost never bring it up, but if someone asks (younger ones always do) then I'll tell them. I'm not opposed to younger friends, I don't prefer it but I can kind of connect with anyone so I've been open to it.

Some of my most genuine and sincere friends have been younger players and some of the most snide and shitty ones were older. Maturity unfortunately doesn't come with age, it only helps, so I've been open minded about who I hang out with.

Just don't pretend to be someone you're not and maybe stay away from actual children and you're good. lol

As a 50+ player, I also find this awkward, although I am surprised at how quickly people will ask my age the moment we start chatting. Possibly I feel taken aback because I am self conscious about it already. I've never chatted with anyone under 19 (that I know of), and tend to try to avoid being pinned down about my age, although may reconsider after reading some of the other responses here. That said, my social interactions have been very limited, and are almost entirely game-related, except for one friend who I share some very limited personal information. I generally chat with friends for a single interaction, and have not forged a social group that I hang out with regularly.

Im 26f and thats the first thing I tell people! Even if you interact with someone close to your age range being kind and respectful is the way to go. Also as a young adult in my case I like to be weary of strangers especially if its a child on the other end and they can lie at any time. So I approach everyone with kindness, respect and honesty in my case.

People are usually really welcoming when they find out I’m 60….I don’t like to focus on age tho. I treat everyone like they could be underage and if it comes up I’m honest. I feel that leading the conversation by announcing your age can feel very creepy and be off putting to others on sky.

I CR with what I’m certain is two older teens/very young adults but we hardly talk, and if we do it’s about the game. One once stopped to talk for real for a bit and we didn’t say much personal during that chat. I just avoided it, but given they spoke like a young person I let them know my age.

For me, if I’m looking to actually be buddies with a player, I’d let them know my age. If I just want company to CR, I wouldn’t bring it up, unless I felt they were very young.

I once met a lady that was around 49 and she said her daughter was my age lol! I'm so good with it, it's lovely, it doesn't need to be weird at all.

I'm lucky enough to never chat with anyone under 18, I'm 23 but i would feel uncomfortable befriending and having some sort of relationship (i dont mean romantic) with a minor... So if any adults of any age wanna be friends dm me!

I find it’s just better/easier not to disclose any real life information including age and treat my sky kid as completely separate from my self, aside from personality, and I don’t ask for personal info from anyone else either.

yeah i only chat / hang out with one person and she’s same age as me i’ve ran into skids a lot younger and i just let them know i’ll answer any questions they have or help them if they need it but i don’t extend any form of friendship beyond that

I mainly just fangirl about ingame events and stuff so I don’t see a point in mentioning age. I’m not super social though and mainly just stick to a few friends. Most my friends are younger though, I haven’t really met any 30 year olds in game. The forever granny of the group. :”)

I've been in the 25-30 age range in the years since I started playing Sky, and it's never been a problem for me! In my Sky friend groups there are teenagers as well as 40-50-60 adults and no one has had an issue with it (oftentimes we don't even start talking about age until we're already comfortable with those friends).

I can see why you'd be worried about kids! But IMO if you're being a respectful/kind player and keeping your conversations appropriate (e.g. being mindful of topics that could cause discomfort and being careful not to invade their privacy) then it shouldn't really matter when or if your age is revealed, since you're not doing anything weird in the first place. If they ask about it then you should be truthful of course, but I don't think you always need to offer up that information every time you meet someone new.

Ultimately, Sky is a game for everyone!

I assume the skids are younger (40+ here) so I play alone. I run away during interactions cuz I don't want to freak anyone out, but sometimes I think it would be nice to find an older crowd.

I’m 15 and I get severe anxiety talking to anyone. (Online or IRL)

With that being said my closest buddy in game right now is a 32 year old lady from Singapore.

Does nobody use parental controls? I would have assumed anyone talking to other players is at least a teenager. 🤷

I'm in my late forties. I play this game to relax, during my free time. I must say that almost all the persons I've met seem to be in their early twenties. I would really appreciate a discord group for persons my own age (at least 30 plus). I'd love to make some friends my own age in the game too, if possible. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to younger people or minors or feel like they should know then just ask their age and then tell them yours. If they don’t want to give that info then that’s normal. I would then just ask if they’re still comfortable talking/playing with you

I am 25 and have the age convo depending on the situation. If skykid is acting confusing to me, i ask their age (or usually kids tell it to me themselves quite quickly lol). That happened with couple 9 and 10 year olds. In those cases I stated my age, explained myself, said I will play alone further and then removed them as friends. Sorry kiddos 😅 I am okay being sky-friends with someone around 18-19 and older, maaaaybe older teens? Only if we are just playing together and only talking about the game. But if we are talking about “proper” sky friends, with whom we play often, always say hi to each other, have most of friendship tree unlocked (inc convos) then that person definitely should be not far from me in age. But I gotta say, i do have some sky-friends who are my light buddies, we occasionally say hi and maybe do a quest together. And I still dont know their age. I dont always know their names either tbh lol. I think its okay because I can tell from their playing they are at least a teen and we never talk about anything, often dont even have conversations unlocked in friendship tree. So , to sum up, it really depends on wether you are chitchatting or silently playing, what you are chitchatting about etc. i would say its important to state you are older if you unlock conversation. But if you are just searching for a person to finish 2 or 3-people quests in hidden forest or just having light buddies, then it matters less I think? To sum up- if you talk with them, then you should tell them

My role of the thumb is; no to minors and for adults disclose the age first and ask them if they are comfortable. I'm only 24 but had 19/20 year old people leave on me because the age gap was already uncomfortable for them. It's important to ask first.

Im an older player and i usually don't tell people my age unless they're trying to friend me (i dont friend kids/teens) or they bring it up first, since most the conversations I have in sky last for a day and then I never see the player again. But im also largely a solo player so if you interact with people more then it might be more appropriate to let someone know right away.

37 here! It’s hard. And I feel like I can tell the younger bunch easily based on the verbiage and emojis they use. I do tell people, and they just leave which is fine. They don’t enjoy talking to an old person and I don’t enjoy talking to children. If you want to be friends in game I’ll DM my code.

i would bring it up right away :p im 16 and im not really comfortable having conversations with full grown men, let alone not even know their age and be talking to them anyway.. its not a problem if you dont bring up anything sexual or personal, just bring it up right away so theyre aware

I don’t like chatting in game much so I don’t really have a system for how to disclose my age. But if I realize that I am talking to a child (they mention school of their little sister or whatever), I take notice. Since I don’t tend to let sky friends get too close or personal, it doesn’t really make a difference to me. But if I wanted to continue the conversation after that point (why though?), then I’d disclose my age then.

I feel like with a age gap you’re talking about you’d most likely know if you were talking to someone much younger than you but that’s also just my experience, I’m 29F, I usually keep my personal info out of conversation including my age unless it’s necessary 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well I’m 31 and a guy and I get your weirdness you feel I don’t chat heavy though I have little conversations with people and it’s mostly with people I met through here actually I never talk about age unless I’m asked though I keep it simple I don’t say my actual name I don’t talk heavy about anything I realized some of the people I’ve played with are definitely 18-21 age range and avoid anyone random on there cause I really don’t want actual kid friends on there unless they are family

I have a lil discord group for my sky friends too and some aren't active at all, but the handful of active people (like 4 of us so far lol) are mid 20s and up. I didn't plan that, but I think our age group is just the most comfortable interacting in the server.

I don't usually bring up age unless the friendship blooms into chatting/playing daily, or is relevant to a topic. If they ask I won't be cot about it, and I always give them a choice to back off if they don't feel comfortable. If I'm just sitting at a chat table and being goofy with some random group and then move on, it's not really needed to share. But if we start CHATTING then I want them to know so they aren't uncomfortable or feel bamboozled even if thats obviously not my intention.

For casual talk, I'll leave it at "I'm an adult with an adult job :( work stinky". For closer friends, they'll get an exact age or "in my 30s lol".

I've only gotten 'close' to two different kids, three total but one gave me her age at a random table chat and never logged on. When presented with the option, one said "it's not weird if you don't make it weird" and then she taught me some music stuff lol. The other two kind of went into mentor/mentee mode. I taught the random table kid about imposter syndrome. I hope she's doing alright. She was graduating her grade that week but hasn't even logged in to collect the graduation gift heart I sent :( the last kid was very clingy. Little brother energy, until he got his footing in the game. We still daily light trade tho. He'd pop in to say hi and chat for a few minutes every time I logged in for a while, but has moved on. I hope he's found an awesome friend group to play with :)

I guess my answer is just be cool, don't be weird, and be the mature one to take control and let them back off if they're uncomfortable. I think once you get more into socializing, it gets easier to naturally find your own age range based on behaviors. At least for me, I tend to gravitate towards players with a certain level of skill and manners. Not intentionally, just that's the personality that makes me stick around long enough to learn ages I guess? Lol anyway~

the sky discord seems to be welcomed to adults. i met mostly adults in my sky experience and i'm 26 yet somewhere much older than me or around my age. on discord you can see folks discords bios and alot of them show that their young adults and some are older teenagers.

as long as the person or people isn't searching for romance or being creepy, the chill vibes is fine. sky is open for anyone to play and if players make one uncomfortable, they just block them and move on

i met someone older than you, she was 45 and brand new to sky, i helped her out every now and then during the days of valentines event. i got to learn some of personal life and everyone has their lifes to deal with. but one day she vanished, i dont know what shes doing now, but i at least we were able to play for alittle while. she just poofed and disappeared.

honestly, if one does bring of the age question. i say what my age is, and we go from there. if their uncomfortable, so be it, unfriend me or whatever, if they're not uncomfortable, okay that question done, lets move on XD

it really just depends on the persons personality and the vibes they give off, if one can continue to chat and play with them.

i never ran into the issue in all the 8 months ive been playing. the few people i chatted with have unfortunately. they say once they know their age, the others block them. i say my age and some of them are younger than me or even older then me. and then we chill. XD

You'd be surprised, most people I met as a 3 year long player are in their 20s at least.

As long as you're not malicious about any interaction, it's really a matter of your own comfort. You can go the "never ask for age and don't disclose it when asked" route, and just look at everyone and yourself as a Sky Kid, and just see who you're vibing with.

You can only talk about age when the other person asks, or ask straight up for age and politely tell people that are too young for you to comfortably interact with that, maybe with a little disclaimer to be careful out there, and talk to their parents if anyone says something weird.

I generally don't ask, but will tell people. When there's someone too young I'll give some warnings about interactions online and generally not actively interact with them. If they join me, or ask for help with the game, I'll generally be accommodating

I'm 23, and I personally wouldn't be bothered to find out another player was older than me, but I feel like minors might be uncomfortable with it. I figure if you're going to bring up your age, might as well do it right away along with your name. Like 'hii I'm [name] and I'm [age]'. That way they can decide if they wanna continue the conversation or if they'd rather duck out

So far I haven't told anyone my age, and my friends haven't told me theirs either. I just keep in mind that I might be playing with a child, and make sure to be polite and keep things appropriate for all ages

I’m 34. I’ve had younger players leave chat because of my age. They were 19 and 20 yrs 😂🤷🏻‍♀️. I don’t try to talk much to other players these days. Some are cool though

I'm 30, and I do not advertise that fact. When someone tells me their age (I never ask), I generally scold them if they're under 16 and tell them to never tell people their age/gender/location. I especially do this if they're under 13.

If they say they're over 20, I'm most likely willing to answer them about my age if they ask me.

This is all just a habit I formed after being a mod/admin on a few Minecraft servers and running into younger kids a lot online. I've genuinely (as far as I've been told) been the first person to have an "Internet Safety Lesson" with some kids.

I'm not a mom, but I'm not gonna sit here and let someone else's kid get themselves into danger if I can help it. Especially with how some people act when playing Sky these days. :/

I never ask anyone their age and I keep my age to myself.

I remember playing online games when I was younger and it always felt weird when someone told me they were significantly older than me, and I never want another player to feel weird because of something I’ve said.

I personally wouldn't mind, but I'm 22. I'm not super comfortable having literal children around either so I do try to bring up my age first, trying not to be creepy about it lol
