Cameo 1 - how to connect to newer mac

Question

I have an original silhouette cameo 1 that’s been in my attic for a number of years. I don’t have the Mac laptop anymore that I used it on back then.

Has anyone successfully connected the Silhouette Cameo 1 to a newer mac that only has usb c ports?

(I do have an ipad, in case anyone knows how to make that work… but I dont think that is doable… right?)

The original cameo has a usb-b port. You can buy a usb-c to usb-b cable on Amazon for $10 or less (if it calls it a printer cable you’re on the right track as lots of printers released around the same time had a usb-b port)
