As the question says, I’ve (M/31) hit a bit of a career rut and I’m a bit unhappy about my professional situation.
I’ve got a decent degree and have loads of different work experience from administrative to managerial. I’ve always had this thought in the back of my head that I’d make a good primary school teacher. I like that idea of being a part of kids learning journeys and seeing actual progression on their part and mine.
Problem being, most forums seem to be mainly negative about the teaching profession. I’m not naive and I’m aware of the recent strikes regarding pay.
Would anyone be willing to give me somewhat detailed pros and cons list regarding primary school teaching in Scotland? Feel free to be brutal and honest but where possible, leave any bias out.
Thanks in advance!
I agree with the other points but also you may not be aware that there is a massive surplus of primary teachers at the moment and next to no jobs. I know of a number of newly qualified primary teachers who have had to get jobs in other fields. Keep an eye on my job scotland to see how many openings there are coming up. Good luck to you!
