Can I play Melee online?

Yes! Slippi is a branch of the Dolphin emulator that will allow you to play online, either with your friends or with matchmaking. Go to https://slippi.gg to get it.

Netplay is hard! Is there a place for me to find new players?

Yes. Melee Newbie Netplay is a discord server specifically for new players. It also has tournaments based on how long you've been playing, free coaching, and other stuff. If you're a bit more experienced but still want a discord server for players around your level, we recommend the Melee Online discord.

How can I set up Unclepunch's Training Mode?

First download it here. Then extract everything in the folder and follow the instructions in the README file. You'll need to bring a valid Melee ISO (NTSC 1.02)

I'm having issues with Slippi!

Go to the The Slippi Discord to get help troubleshooting.

How does one learn Melee?

There are tons of resources out there, so it can be overwhelming to start. First check out the SSBM Tutorials youtube channel. Then go to the Melee Library and search for whatever you're interested in.

But how do I get GOOD at Melee?

Check out Llod's Guide to Improvement

Today is the 5 year anniversary of Wizzy pulling off perhaps the single most impressive feat at a Super Smash Bros. super major. He won Smash'N'Splash 5 Melee with Falcon and made top 8 in Ultimate with Wolf. Absolute legend.

He beat Spark, n0ne, Leffen, aMSa, and Hbox twice to win Melee. Hbox and leffen were the #1 and #2 players in 2019. He did this as the 6th seed with solo Captain Falcon, a character who had only won two smaller-scale majors in 2005 in the hands of Isai.

In Ult, he beat Tweek, the #1 seed and in contention for #1 player along with MkLeo. Then Wizzy beat Scatt to make top 8. He did this as the 97th seed.

To me, this is the most impressive feat in Smash Bros. to happen at any single tournament. If you can think of anything that could rival this, feel free to discuss.

In this podcast, Mark MSX and Crimson Blur discuss Melee's programmer Yoshiki Suzuki who programmed both Smash 64 and Melee and is likely the reason why never Smash titles do not have the same "feel" as the first 2 physics-wise. This is interesting to me because Sakurai is often praised for making Melee, but in reality this guy is probably a big reason why Melee feels so good to play as it does. The whole podcast is really interesting too, for example they discuss Nintendo's involvement with Melee scene, so thought I'd share this.

Pretty sure he was playing vs Axe I think, and right before axe was about to kill him game 5 last stock axe ended up misinputing and SDing. I thought this was at the big house 9 but clearly I was wrong.

I remeber watching a decently long YouTube video about Chillin’s perspective of the days leading up to the 5-0 with fly amanita in it quite a bit. Anybody have a link or remeber this as well?

Hello,

I recently broke out my old home brewed Wii and decided update it with slippi nintendont for a nice offline setup. I was able to get that working without much fuss but ran into an issue when trying to use the autobooter.

When attempting to autoboot to the slippi nintendont forwarder, nintendont will boot up but after a moment the Wii will either crash and restart in an endless loop or experience graphical glitches without progressing pasty the “loading IOS58 kernel” message.

Again, I’m able to run it fine if I start from the boot mii menu but starting with the autobooter looks to be creating a critical issue. It seemed to work with some other non-nintendont apps so I’m not sure what the issue is here.

I've been looking for a solution to increase the polling rate of my controller without disabling secure boot (this is because I need it on for anti-cheats for other games I play.)

I've been reading this guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cQ3pbKZm_yUtcLK9ZIXyPzVbTJkvnfxKIyvuFMwzWe0/edit and found the section where he talks about downloading a script that edits your registry.

Usually fine with doing stuff like this, however, I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and has had problems with Anti-Cheats (specifically Faceit AC and Valorant Vanguard AC)?
