LFG
The best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced at the riot. What a night. What a game.
I don't know if I've ever heard the stadium singing like that. It was really great to watch, even on TV.
And....i had to sell my tickets tonight. But those I sold them to hadn't been to a game in years, so i like to think I shared the love!
Dang. Difference this year is in Just. Not. Giving. Up. Gotta love it.
So many goal-hungry players up front. Even got eneli and Ojeda looking to shoot.
I really hope ownership is watching and knows what an opportunity this team is creating. They should fill the remaining DP slots and turn this team into a powerhouse.
Two empty slots need to be filled…don’t see why they wouldn’t try.
DP RB would be really good for us, we never really replaced Herrera and what he brought to that spot since he left.
Then who sits?
Everyone! Buy some depth so we don't drop off in quality like the new mexico game.
Brody
RB does seem to be our weakest spot. It’s a strange position to to use a DP slot for, but at this point in our teams performance I’d be happy with it.
It's kinda funny that RB has the most "depth" of any position, but they are all about the same in skill level.
I will say that my Oviedo opinion continues to rise as he continues to not make stupid mistakes. Not sure I'd say he's good yet, but he almost got his 2nd(?) assist tonight
Oviedo is not the answer. One of the slowest on the whole team. I don’t think he’d play at all if Hidalgo was healthy
Agreed, Oviedo is tactically and technically the most talented imo but these days he’s just too slow to play a full 90 at this level
Probably no one at first. Then whomever falls out of form.
Gomes doesn’t have much competition. Neither does Crooks. With the new U23 rules I bet we could see a DP CB come in maybe!
Crooks
Crooks is still finding his rhythm. At this point he is contributing, just not as much as Ruiz might. I'd say he stays for now, at least until the transfer window opens to see how he does, or we find a no-brainer pickup
He’s fine, but he often single handedly kills attacks for us. He’s the only one in our front four who can’t take players on.
Also: he was so slow to get off the field when being subbed out (while we were losing) that we got the two minute sub penalty. That’s so unbelievably unacceptable lol
Also one of the better passers on the team. Should be better in the air.
His body may be 6'3, but he's 5'0 in spirit
He's poor in the air, offers no physicality, can't move eith thr ball at his feet well, and slows down the attack. For this team and coach he's not playing like his salary should dictate. He could easily be benched by a better player, dp caliber for sure.
First game I’ve been to in at least a year. I took the whole fam and we had a blast. The atmosphere was great.
This team is incredible! And it wasn’t just the starters getting it done. Our subs got quality too!
Just came here from SoCal to say the Believe chant is one of the best MLS chants I have heard. Props, RSL supporters.
And always glad to see Chicho score!
So the Believe chant was written by Branden Steineckert the drummer from Rancid.

Phenomenal! Props to him, this is amazing!
Fucking all timer
This team got talent and xDawg
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT HAHAHAHA
For real though, how good does it feel to have a winning team?!?!
So, so good. Been waiting for this for years. I think this is the best team we've ever had, honestly. I am stoked to see how far they can take this momentum. Hopefully we don't run out of gas at the end of this long season.
If they keep this up, then yes that should earn that title--easily. Until then that 2010 team that only allowed 20 goals all season probably has the top spot.
Well I don’t know about ever, that’s yet to be determined. That Supporter Shield winning team was pretty good too.
Real Salt Lake have never won The Supporters Shield. We were runner up once and won MLS cup in 2009, but that was a good team but I think we were also really lucky. This team doesn't seem to need that much luck - they have more quality.
Honestly kinda surreal. Always been on the losing end of leagues when it comes to the teams I follow. Every day, I wonder when it all falls apart, yet we keep winning! I would love them to get another star above the badge, and I feel like there is a shot this year
His volley off the corner was even better
That was a phenomenal display of heart from the team.
Just got home. That was so fun! One of the best games and atmospheres I’ve seen in a long time.
Holy cow! What a game!
Chicho and Gomez, what a duo. I would feel comfortable with Chicho sitting out with Gomez on the field. Most of the guys were killing it today too. I'm pretty sure that's the best game I've seen from us
Love what Gomez is doing, but I’m never comfortable with Chicho sitting out. His effort and leadership this year have been truly outstanding!
Gg RSL. Y’all got our number. I don’t like you but you are a great team.
Colorado looks like a pretty solid team this year. You guys have given us one of our only losses and our only home loss this season.
And to think, most fans wanted Mastroeni gone after a few months into his tenure. Glad we stuck out with him.
I'm still not convinced Pablo is the reason behind our success. He makes strange subs and starts, we barely had tactics until this year (after we'd replaced all of the assistant coaches), his coaching history is bad, and our roster is pretty stacked right now. I'm sure he's better than the Earthquake's coach, but I don't think he's anywhere near Nancy or Noonan
If he gets the blame when we lose, then he definitely gets the credit when we win.
Signed, guy who was never on the Pablo out bandwagon
I believe this is his 8th year of coaching. 7 of those years weren't anything special. Just 1 is (at least so far). Our playoff performance under Pablo has gotten worse over time. Last year we had mostly the same crew, but didn't do well after Ruiz was injured.
And it's not about losing = Pablo's fault. Brody and Vera were our weakest players yesterday. If we'd lost, it would've been their fault. I think the Open Cup game definitely falls on the players and Pablo. The questionable line up is on Pablo. Timing and selection of the subs is on Pablo. If we go on the field with everything we have and lose, that's ok. If we go on the field and run around like chickens with their head cut off, that's on Pablo.
I will give credit to Pablo for Gomez. He looked awful most of last season, but the minutes paid off.
But considering the amount of changes we had this year, really hard to point at Pablo who's been here for longer and say he's suddenly ramped the team up so much in just the off-season
Hard disagree.
First of all, this is about his time at RSL.
Second, be real. We are a small market team. To make the playoff lone consistently is a success. To deliver enough results to sell tickets and even fill the stadium is a success.
Now to have 2 or 3 consecutive seasons of progress is major success for …. again, a small market team.
And yes, it was progress. Last season was the exception, you might say. But you forget too soon. They started with an amazing run. Then the stumbled, the Ruiz, and whatever. And they still made the playoffs.
So, check yourself. We aren’t LA and will never have their budget. We won’t ever have the European-level fanaticism of Seattle (and go to a Seattle home game before you moan about it)).
Want to see failures? Look at the large market teams at the bottom of the table.
Agreed, I am not calling for him out right now, but I don't think anything magically has happened with his coaching acumen over the last 12 months. He's still the same mediocre coach, but we've got a couple players playing exceptionally well, that's the difference.

You need to listen to this episode and maybe you’ll rethink your opinion of him! Some well versed MLS veterans who think Pablo is one of the best in the league right now
I listened to the first 20 minutes, and I got a very different conclusion. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but sounds like Pablo had to take a step back and let the assistant staff coach. Pablo has the morale part figured out, but I think he's mediocre at the rest
Listening to only the first 20 mins is the same as watching the first 20 mins of the game against Colorado yesterday… completely different thoughts/outcome if you watch/listen to the whole thing haha
That was on of the best games I’ve ever been to at the riot! I’m so glad we have a team that believes after going 2-0 down, and also us the talent to back it up. Chicho is the best goal scorer we have ever had, and he inspires Gomez to reach his potential. Also, I’d be ok getting rid of Brody.
It's a shame Brody won't get credit for the two assists he gave the crapids. I bet they really appreciated those
Yeah he had a bad night. At least he managed to stop the bleeding and kinda fade into the background for second half. Our defense is running thin or he might have come off sooner.
Brody was definitely a huge liability this game, but I feel like his ability to keep possession and advance the ball under pressure is an important part of our attack. But yeah, horrible night this game.
Vera owns those too. Not even in the box on the final goal.
Vera definitely fucked up with the second goal, watching the replay I'd say it's probably more on Vera than Brody.
While I don't think Vera necessarily contributed to the third goal, he had 0 hustle to get back.
I have a love/hate relationship with the guy, he's just so erratic
Much enjoyed
Vera is interesting. He is an offensive threat with a rocket of a foot. Defensively he is passable but not great. Should he be a holding middie or outside back?
Crooks had a strange game. First half he was lost and his touch was terrible. Then he found something and contributed. I like his attitude and work rate. He needs to get confidence again
Upgraded starters needed at goalkeeper and Right Back. Quality backups needed at key positions like CB, DM and Striker. This team is 2-3 players away from serious contention or 2-3 injuries away from a major drop off in quality.
Bring on a big time left winger and Young 9 , if Chicho goes down depth really falls off! Fidel needs time Use the DP on attacking players… BTW They have, Storlie , a young talented Centerback coming up soon from Monarchs ( he is ready now ) and Glad and Vera on long term deals. Depth is why Man City dominates
What a game! By FAR, the best atmosphere of any game I can remember. The stadium was BUZZING… entire place singing chants.. everyone on their feet for all of injury time… Let’s GOOOOO!!!!!!
