Yeah being shot and beaten nearly to death by the O'Driscolls then nearly drowning and waking up on an island wasn't the best for his health.
The sugar factory absolutely directly contributed to and sped up the process. Sticky dust is not good for the lungs.
Also moving to Lemoyne and living in dank swampy conditions. Everyone says the climate would be good for him but in reality it would have made it worse. I have a dodgy chest and I can't even imagine trying to breathe through that soup
This. I moved from a humid to a dry-ass climate specifically because my lungs suck.
That's weird because my lungs definitely work better when it's more humid and warm.
