All ready for my first prospecting trip.
Yeah, getting 150-grit sandpaper tomorrow. I've been following Vo-Gus Prospecting on Youtube for helpful tips to start.
Good taste in youtube. Hes my favorite prospecting channel. He taught me just about everything i know as well.
Wait really? I thought it was saying joke, I got some new pans should I rough them up? What are the benefits of that
It catches the gold easier when you get down to the last steps of a pan
Yes, really, my friend. The new pans have a sheen of mold-release on them from when they come out of the plastic molds in the factory. Also uniformly perfect plastic doesnt have nooks and crannies for gold to get stuck. You can either use sandpaper or if you forget to do it before you go to the creek you can just vigorously rub/scrap gravels over them.
Nice I was wondering where you got the mini-pick?
Got it from Bunnings years ago.
I find mini pics like that at military surplus stores often. Like smith and edwards in UT
Heck yeah, gl sir!
You are missing the Esky full of beer.
Haha, that will be packed on the day.
Now you need some buckets... lots of buckets.
on top of what ever 5 gal buckets you can get I really enjoy having these 2 gal buckets. Tho they got a ton more expensive than when I purchased last.
I have some, I was standing on them to take the photo. 🤣
U still need a prospector hat
And suspenders
Is that sluice like that for a specific reason? Never seen anything like it
Unsure mate, I'm just starting this awesome hobby.
Gotcha, super unique design, I’m pretty new myself and used to the traditional sluice mats. Best of luck, happy prospecting!!
That's a large riffle dream mat.
Is it a relatively lightweight mat?
Not bad. I have their 4x16 adventure sluice works well with classified materials. Wish I had just gotten one like that.
Looks like the 6" gold rat, it's meant to look like that and does a fantastic job.
Where are you going around Bathurst by any chance?
Did you make the vaccuum suckered thing?
Yeah, I did. Found a couple of DIU videos on Youtube.
Nice and shiny . Go get some dirt ! Great looking sniping / prospecting kit there . All bases covered . Got wash tubs and Sand magnet ?
Check and check.
Interested on these new sluice mats you have, I’ve been seeing .
Yeah, they have some great reviews. Can't wait to use it!
I've got a dream mat in my Keene sluice and am really impressed with it. It is a bit heavy and stiff. I kinda like the stiffness so it doesn't flop around and loose the cons. But you need to have a good grip on it. It washes out quick and catches tiny gold
Nice
You'll want some sort of crevice tool. Something sturdy but thin enough to get in between cracks of rocks. Probably one of the most handy tools you can take!
That’s nice and affordable!
When prospecting like this do u need a license ?
In Queensland, yes.
Nice.
Good luck, have fun.
Two glass vials, I love the optimism. Nice setup. Good luck, I hope you find some color.
Good luck buddy! 👍🏻
Don't forget your bear spray.
Don't forget your beer
Bear spray doesn't work on drop bears here in Australia. :(
Don’t forget a couple of 5gal buckets
Have fun! Don’t forget your mountain money!!
Two glass vials, I love the optimism. Nice setup. Good luck, I hope you find some color.

Well, I hope you strike it lucky and fill both. Good luck and have fun!
Crevassing tool? I made my own, but here’s what I mean. Used it all the time.
I have an old bent screwdriver for now, which should do the trick.
Almost…
Almost? What am I forgetting?
Pinpointer for crevassing
I was going to by one, but I have an old bent screwdriver for now, which should do the trick.
How did it go!?!?
The official trip is next month. I did go out today, I took my daughter out with me and had a blast. Didn't find any gold, but knew there wasn't any as it was just my local creek.
I’m overly excited for you haha. Best of luck and do report back with results win or lose please! =]
Make sure you rough up those pans a bit. Looking shiny.
