I'm so sad the story's over. What an incredible ride.

Im about halfway through the 3rd audiobook myself and would totally agree!
I just finished weir, then bobiverse, and now halfway through songularity trap. Would 100% agree
Is that on audible? I saw like 12 posts about bobiverse being great but I can't find it?
The most common pipeline I've seen is PHM to Bobiverse series (Ray Porter narrates) to Dungeon Crawler Carl (different narrator)
I skipped Bobverse and went straight from PHM to DCC....glurp glurp
Pony scream Mongo is appalled
You will not break me
Listening to DCC right now.... so good.
Really though the narration is next level. So nuanced and thorough for lack of a better word. Every character has emotional range and depth that a lot of narrators can't pull off or don't even try.
The Martian, also by Andy Weir, is fantastic, though not Ray Porter, Wil Wheaton is a great narrator.
I also love audiobooks narrated by RC Bray. He also does a lot of Sci Fi, Expeditionary Force is my fav.
So you've heard The Martian narrated by Bray right? I like Wheaton but R.C is next level.
Yes! The RC Bray Martian is just perfect. He’s so good. No dis on Wheaton, but RC Bray was just made for cynical sarcasm.
It's still crazy how this whole nonsense over audiobook rights happened.

Bray is amazing. I love Wil Wheaton, but Bray is a next level talent.
RC Bray must be a madman in person. I LOVE the outtakes on the exfor books
The Expanse done by Jefferson Mayes is absolutely incredible.
Not sci-fi, but Roy Dotrice is incredible for the A Song of Ice and Fire (Game Of Thrones) books. It’s a tragedy he died before the series was completed
At the rate George RR Martin is going, we might all be dead before we see another book.
What is dead may never die!
Heck yeah for Jefferson Mayes as well as your name!
Bobiverse is what you're looking for.
You might like 14 by Peter Clines, which is also narrated by Ray Porter. It’s the first in a loose trilogy that continues with The Fold and ends with Terminus. Porter narrates all three. They’re more to the horror side of sci fi, but they’re good.
I came to PHM after finishing Dungeon Crawler Carl. Love both of them. DCC is a series so you get multiple books which is great. DCC is less wholesome? I would say, but the narration is so good, the story is an edge of your seat can’t put it down, and it is laugh out loud funny in so many parts.
DCC less wholesome????? Mongo is appalled
There’s a lot more violence and innuendo, is what I mean. But it is also extremely sweet in many parts. I laughed, I cried, 10/10.
It's just a story of a guy, his exes cat, and their friends just trying to be good people.
Except Samantha. She is just there to have fun with the world.
Shss probably my favorite non crawler
Any links to the bobiverse?
Wil Wheaton does a great The Martian
I liked him better than RC Bray in The Martian and ooooo, does that ever spin up RC Bray fans. I’ve listened to both and WW makes Mark Watney and cast a person/people, whereas RC Bray has a lovely reading voice but bored me. He was NOT bad, but I prefer WW’s version.
I definitely preferred WW’s interpretation.
WW is just a good narrator in general. He does ready player one as well
I didn't know Bray also read The Martian. I've only heard it by WW.
RC Bray is hands down my favorite voice actor though (Expeditionary Force, The Fear Saga, Ruins of the Earth have all been listened to multiple times). I guess I'll be buying a second copy of The Martian...
His version is not available to buy, but if you google it there is a platform that has the whole recording. However, there is no pausing, rewinding, skipping. Eh, maybe there is - can’t remember - but it is very basic. No chapter breaks. One long story with no visual markers of where you are except a sliding bar. Think a youtube video with no timestamp markers.
Listen again! I have listened to it 3 times and can predict there will probably be more times for me.
I would check out Ready Player one narrated by Wheaton. And Enders Game/ Enders Shadow. Both great books with awesome narration
Bobiverse, and The Expanse series.
It’s not Scientific but the only Audiobook I like more is World War Z.
I loved the audio book with one exception - Henry Rollins. I found him really unconvincing as a narrator. Maybe it's just me.
I love the jeff waynes war of the worlds audiobook, the music and sound design is incredible
If you're ever in London, there's an interactive theater experience based on the Jeff Wayne "musical." It's pretty fun and uses some interesting (if somewhat outdated) technology.
Oh yes i know dont worry i have been 3 times with different family members and loved it each time, also did the guy fawkes one they have setup which was also great but the vr parts felt more lackluster than the war of the worlds experience
Listen to Rocket Men next! It’s also narrated by Ray Porter. It’s a nonfiction account of the Apollo 8 mission, but it’s just as exciting as a novel. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Andy Weir even has a blurb on the cover of it recommending it.
I loved his narration of 14 by Peter Clines.
Earthcore is my absolute favorite. Also Ray Porter.
14 by Peter cline. Also Ray Porter
Kagan the damned , ARP.
Basically just look up Ray Porter… he’s the GOAT.
Earthcore is porters best work.
I think that is a book that is truly better as an audio experience.
I wish I was like you and still had bobiverse to listen to
Kagan the Damned!!
Quantum Chain. Narrated by Ray Porter. Pretty damn good science fiction, though definitely not as realistically science based like PHM. currently on audible plus
Very different genres, but Dungeon Crawler Carl and the Stormlight Archive have absolutely phenomenal audio books.
This was my first audiobook. The second one was Fairy Tales by Stephen King. I loved both, and assumed there would be lots that good. Still looking.
You’d like IT, read by Stephen Webber. One the best.
I think the audiobook experience of PHM is so special. There are other audiobooks that are great, but nothing quite like PHM.
But if you’re looking for great narrators, these are some of my favorites:
I second The First Law series as being narrated fantastically. Red Rising was also good but I listened a while ago.
He is such a great narrator for the book, I wanna listen to all of his work
I would not recommend listening to The Terminal List after Project Hail Mary. Yes, it's narrated by Ray Porter, but it's a very different style of story and nowhere near as good.
Ready Player One and the Bobiverse
Bobiverse 1000%
Great recs here! Shout out to incredible narrator Tim Gerard Reynolds and his work with the Red Rising series!
I'm in the middle of listening to Ray Porter narrate The Apollo Murders by Chris Hadfield. Really good.
If you like PHM and Ray Porter then the Bobiverse series might be right up your street.
