I was able to talk with the city about my neighbor complaining about my portable hoop and it being classified as a structure.

This is apparently the first time he’s ever had a neighbor complain about a portable hoop. He gave me an extension until the middle of August for us to find a good alternative that allows us to keep a hoop there. He mentioned I could move it to the street and then maybe it would become a PBOT issue, but would close out the case with them. I can put an in-ground hoop (or portable) if the pole is lower than 8’ and the backboard can be stored lower. I found an option for that, though it’s substantially more expensive.

I’m going to keep talking to the city, but it’s good to have a couple months to figure out a solution.

I removed the original post because it showed a house number and I couldn’t edit since it was a picture post. hoop pictures
