Yeah, we dont think much. That's why we now have a right wing government cooperating with the Swedish Democrats that's been pushing for migration reforms for decades while everyone called them racist.
They grew from 5% in 2010 to 18% in 2022 (the last election). That's record growth for any party, and they would probably have grown even more if not for every party and media demonizing them every step of the way. Also remember there are eight parties in the Riksdag. They're only second to the Social Democrats, traditionally the largest and most powerful party through our democratic history.
The problem is that the ruling coalition barely has a majority, like one or two mandates, and there's some people, in the Liberal Party, that are against working with the Swedish Democrats so whenever they have to vote on more controversial topics they vote against them and nothing gets done. It's a stalemate lot of the time, or at least that's my impression.
The far right and the fringe far right has seen massive growth in Europe these past 2-3 years. The thing is:
1) They face massive opposition from all the establishment and other parties combined, as well as cultural opposition
2) The few times they attain government positions they prove to be extremely ineffective and corrupt, not only they fail to fix they immigration problem but they screw up other things as well
3) Many of them are extremely corrupt and in the pocket of Putin/Chinese interests. Which makes people less likely to trust them.
