Let's talk about urine -- r/vegetablegardening is hosting an AMA with the Rich Earth Institute team on Monday, May 20 from 10-12 ET! Details in comments.
ℹ️ info, resources + fun factsYes, they were one of several subreddits that allowed me to share the AMA info. It's pinned to the top of that sub. Thanks for the suggestion though. I do appreciate it.
I had a chuckle at the fact that several of the larger gardening subreddits I contacted to ask outright refused to allow the content to be posted 🙄.
Whatever. Their loss.
SO HAPPY to see pee fert gaining traction. One of my big bugbears. We need to redesign our toilets and municipal sewage systems.
OMG yes. There are so many things wrong with most municipal wastewater systems. I'm probably preaching to the choir here but diverting urine before it hits those systems is one of the best things we can do for economic, ecological, and health reasons.
Even if the person is taking multiple medications?
Yep. Go take a look at the research they posted in the AMA.

Hi. Mod of r/vegetablegardening here. Many thanks to u/JoeFarmer for allowing me to share this upcoming AMA announcement with you here in r/Permaculture.
I'm excited to announce that The Rich Earth Institute team (u/RichEarthInstitute) accepted our invitation to host an AMA in r/vegetablegardening on Monday, May 20 from 10-12 ET!
I hope you'll join us to speak with the Rich Earth team: Research Director Abe Noe-Hays, Social Research Director Tatiana Schreiber, and Education Director Julia Cavicchi.
In the meantime, take a look at some of the projects they have cooking:

I have been using my urine for years by peeing in jugs. People around me have thought I am nuts for it but I have the last laugh.
I can pee on my compost heap?
Yes, you can
Personally I enjoy centralized nutrient recovery but I think a good mix of centralized and decentralized makes sense.
This is going to be great! Thanks for organizing this ama!
I first learned about the Rich Earth Institute from the No Till Market Garden podcast. For anyone who isn't familiar with what they do, it's worth a listen https://notillmarketgardenpodcast.libsyn.com/fertilizer-from-urine-sustainable-farms-with-tatiana-schreiber-of-the-rich-earth-institute
You should crosspost this in r/composting.
