Deer yelled “I’m walking here!” At me the other night
A deer hit me with their car
Republicans just passed a bill giving bucks county deer permit less concealed carry. 🤦
A deer stole my catalytic converter
Good one.
They stole my neighbors Kia
And my sword
And my Axe
Lol, I live in Bucks County. 😂
Need to move to Elk County! They let them have way bigger guns to account for the size difference.
Visited PA once. A deer threw a battery at me.
…were you dressed as Santa at the time?
Why yes. ..how did you know?
I’ve heard that’s how Drew tried to hide, too! Philly Phans will always phind you…
They just keep going, and going, and going, and going…
It’s a snowball - the browns fans are the battery throwers.
"Help! I'm naked! ...And I have a Pizza." - one of Bambo's hunting calls in Deer Avenger (1998)
Bambo got tired of being hunted and became the hunter. Great game, your comment reminded me it exists.
They have always been like that. That is where the "like a deer in headlights" saying comes from. I'm not sure why Maryland deer would be any different, but I don't drive there often so I don't know.
Maryland deer come preseasoned with Old Bay.
If they live in an area like the Harrisburg area, they're just likely noticing it more because every square inch of land seems to be getting developed and it's pushing wildlife into neighborhoods. Worked the same jobs landscaping for an embarrassing amount of time, and the amount of deer I see on site these days is just depressing.
MD deer seem to have some agreement with drivers. I took a 65 mile commute home on the Eastern Shore. Only had 1 jump out. PA deer are brash.
my favorite editorial in a newspaper was a lady complaining about the deer crossing signs....
~'they shouldn't have them in busy, high-traffic areas... Move the deer crossing out into the middle of the woods!'
That's hilarious, but on a serious note pa really lacks in safe wildlife crossing areas. Other states build bridges over open land and do landscape in a way to lure wildlife to use that area to cross under the road.
It was a radio bit:
what would she say about the turtle crossing signs?
I live in a rural area in NEPA & we have "development deer". I have one girl that is part of the herd that comes to my patio door and looks at me while sitting on the couch watching TV. They are beautiful animals but not exactly the smartest. Deer hits are so common our car insurance rates are high because of it.
I think the ones in the city have been getting smarter, I’ve seen them wait for cars to stop while crossing a road.
My buddy’s neighbor in Dallas feeds them. I think a lot of people do up there because the deer are extra chill. It’s not crazy to see a few families just chilling in the front yard grazing. If you’re going to feed them, they’re your responsibility now. Or maybe they’re demented and feed them in anticipation of them being murdered by a car.
As someone who drives everyday in both MD and PA, trust me MD deer are just as comfy. Leaving my GF's neighborhood this morning mama and babies were standing in just about every other front yard.
I’ve gone to school in Maryland. One night I stayed late to study and around 7pm it walking to my car through the center of the campus (surrounded by buildings) and I come face to face with 3 deer that just stood there staring at me..eating. They didn’t start to leave until I was maybe 15 feet away. Very very comfy.
Yeah I lived in MD for a while and the deer 100% didn’t not give a fuck about people being close to them.
Nah. That's their entertainment.
" Wait.....no not yet.... wait wait WAIT and NOW!!!! "
It's all in the timing. If they can make you wreck your car and miss them you'll hear them giggling in the woods. But sometimes their timing is off and the car and deer both lose.
And its always the lone kamikaze deer.
You're busy looking at the herd of 12 deer on one side of the road, you totally miss the lone deer on the other side waiting to run out
It's crazy when they run into the side of a car. It happened twice I've seen. Once to a parked car once to a car going 30 just right into the doors.
They hang out in my yard, and I walk toward them yelling "OI! DEER! FUCK OFF OUT OF MY YARD" and waving my arms while they stare at me with their stupid fucking dumb stares and go back to eating my hostas and arborvitaes. Fuck you, deer.
I've already had them stomp the ground with their front hoof and stare through my soul with their beady, little eyes. Continue eating my daylilies good sir/ma'am.
Watch out during rutt they get a little fighty
“These days”. lol buddy, the deer have always been ok with being by the side of the road, it’s not new.
I have to disagree. 60 years ago you never saw anything but the south end of a northbound white tail deer. They're much more accustomed to people today.
I sincerely doubt the deer behave any differently between the two states
They get drunk on our rotting crab apples /s
PA deers are all about the YOLO lifestyle. They DGAF.
These new age Gen X deer have no respect for cars
Whatever.
Nah it's better that they learned to watch the road instead of panic.
Night? It’s like that in the mornings too lol and sometimes in the middle of the day.
We need a longer deer hunting season....
We take their habitat away and then complain about them trying to move around what’s left. Is the deer crossing the road or the road crossing the forest?
We didn’t take their habitat away, at all, the fact is, they now live at a much higher density than they ever did before we settled the areas, since we have brought all sorts of new foods for them. They used to be close to starving in the winter, and frequently did not bring any viable fetuses to term, now they routinely have twins. They are thriving.
Pennsylvania was previously over 90% forest. We absolutely took their habitat away and also took away their natural predators. This is not rocket science. They thrive in some ways now but have new threats that also threaten us (vehicle accidents), ironically.
The population of deer is about 10 fold higher now than it was in the 1700’s. I am too busy to find a primary source for you but I learned this at a seminar at Longwood Gardens a few years ago.
I repeat, we took their natural habitat and natural predators away. I am not trying to say there are less deer! Without natural predators, of course there will be more of a population. The point has been about how dumb it is that we take their habitat and predators away and then complain about how they are so populated and how they are in the roads.
Reminds me of this internet classic:
This is priceless. The way the DJs just let her dig herself deeper was beautiful.
I noticed the same thing! The deer in PA are much less likely to dive into my car than the ones in NY! NY deer are friggi crackheads!
But NY coyotes aren't going to trash your car if you hit one. Some of the roadkill coyotes I've seen in PA were so big the probably did as much damage as a NY deer.
Nah, PA deer are much worse than NY. I drive from south-western PA to the Adirondacks and definitely have more issues in PA than NY.
New York has more deer per acre than Pennsylvania. According to wildlife management reports, New York's deer density ranges from about 20 to 40 deer per square mile (12.8 to 25.6 deer per 640 acres), while Pennsylvania's deer density generally ranges from 15 to 25 deer per square mile (9.6 to 16 deer per 640 acres). Thus, New York typically has a higher deer density per acre compared to Pennsylvania.
Maybe it's just the area. Lots of deer around Ithaca and Old Forge. Much sparser in the Adirondacks. Which makes sense, less farms.
One time there was a here crossing. I came to a complete stop. There was two stragglers that just kept running. I’m physically screaming at this point because they’re coming at my car full speed. The dang idiot just runs right into my side door and puts larger dent into it and scratches the paint. Then goes around…. Even if you’re not moving, these deer will find ways to mess you up lol
It's always fun when I visit home from Vermont being exhausted from driving and pretty much as soon as I get into Pennsylvania there are deer along the highway everywhere.
You gotta be careful even when slowing down so you don't hit them..... THEY HIT YOU .... ya a buck kicked in my door as I was passing an ran up a hill ... 😐
Needs a pick up truck with their high beams on blinding you as they ride your ass
Might be a you problem. Get a truck and lift it. If you can't beatem, join them lol
I'll hit myself in the head with a hammer a few times too so I can be on the same intellectual level as them
Tell me how it goes for ya
Slow down.
Eventually the stupid ones will get killed by the people who drive too fast for the conditions.
So on one team, the smart deer will be more likely to survive and produce offspring.
On the other team, the smart people who drive slower at night will be less likely to crash their cars.
Stupid ones getting killed off will take a while. If a stupid doe has a fawn and then she is struck and killed, another doe from the herd will take care of the fawn. So that fawn will grow up, have stupid fawns that will get adopted if their parents die.
Of course, I have no idea if a smart deer adopts a stupid fawn if they can be taught to be smart.
I’ve seen miscellaneous wildlife wait to cross at a red light at a crosswalk at night. I guess it’s possible. I even see them look before crossing
I was driving into Allentown at noon and one hopped a guardrail and ooopsied right under my car. I was going slower than speed limit, had come off a red light, and nope. Driving into the city - with city traffic.
But if you listen to some of the PA hunters there are no deer left to hit 😂
No PA hunters are saying that, they're more informed on the deer population and how it's skyrocketing than anyone else. In Pittsburgh the mayor finally started authorizing archery hunts in city parks the population is so out of control.
I’m not one of them that says it but there is most definitely a portion of the state that says the deer are decimated.
I believe they have since learned to look both ways before crossing the street. Ancestral learning is a thing!
You can ippke all you want at Pennsylvania deer
Like college students on campus with the bus.
"Come on. Do it. We both know you won't."
The way they cut the grass off the road lures them in with all the good easy food. Why forage in the woods when you've got a field.
Looks like a poster for the film “ deermageddon” First we brought you tick borne disease ….
I was telling my mom one day about how I really enjoy riding my motorcycle down sketchy gravel roads in the middle of the night. She asked if I ever worried about deer jumping out in front of me on a road like that where it's easy to wreck. I told her not at all, because those are woods deer. Woods deer are way more afraid of vehicles than road deer. Road deer will fuck you up.
Better they just stare than run into traffic
i'd rather have them standing there chilling, rather than getting twitchy and having that "road or woods, which way am i gonna go" moment
Eh, you get used to the deer. It’s the bears you seem to increasingly need to worry about.
Classic PA deer-chicken. They're basically like "do it, I ain't scared to die".
They’re everywhere in PA these days
Deer jump into roadways here and stand in the road, especially terrifying on interstates. Unfortunately a large dog was standing just under the crest of a hill at night and I hit it, ruined the front end of my tiny car but thankfully the dog was ok! I saw the same dog standing in the road a couple months after the accident, the owners just dgaf smdh.
My dad is 84 and lives in rural PA… he’s hit 2 deer this year 🙄
She’s just standing there… MENACINGLY
If they're on your property get a crossbow and go to town. Who's gonna stop that bolt from flying through the air and nestling itself deep in a deers chest? Nobody. Start killing deer, they're a pest at this point. And in PA we have every right to kill pests on our property.
There built different lol.
It is their planet too! Too many roads going through where they live with humans driving way too fast!
Where I live in PA, they do this morning, noon and night. Can’t stand the things. Had a car totaled a few years back, and have numerous scary encounters. Wish we could get more hunters, there are more deer per square acre than there ever were before the area became built up. Hostas are a great food, and they are thriving here!
I travel to King of Prussia from Lancaster county. There is a small stretch of the Turnpike adjacent to Valley Forge and the deer and fawns just eat right next to the road. Been like this for as long as I can remember. And I’ve never seen roadkill. Almost like they evolved to avoid the road.
Ippked??? What is this word?
A typo, and I can't go back and edit it. Relax.
Blasted a deer on the turnpike in my husbands car a few months ago
2 weeks before we moved out of the US and we were planning to bring the car with us.
Damn thing came out of nowhere. Car beeped alerting to it literally as I was smashing into it. Car totaled.

Yeah up here in PA we tried to train the deer to take a taxi, but it just made them more comfortable with the road and now they’re just always like hanging out roadside just chilling like go back in the woods. It’s a real problem. have you ever seen Deer Hunter? like I feel like they’re gonna start hunting us.
