I'll be heading to Blair atholl and cycling into cairngorm from there on the 11th of May, staying for two nights and head back on the Monday. Any advice would be appreciated and curious if anyone else will be there at the same time.
Plan is to head up towards Ben macdui and find a suitable area
Corrour bothy is nearby but tbh you could camp anywhere really depending on conditions.
You'd need to carry your bike for a few hours to get up on to Ben Macdui. There's a big loose boulder field between Carn a Mhaim and the top of Macdui that's not much fun on foot let alone carrying a bike + camping kit. Similarly beyond Hutchinson up to Loch Etchachan is a bike carry (or in other direction a black standard descent). If determined to do Macdui I'd dump the bike at Corrour or Luibeg and proceed on foot
Sweet thank you very much, sound advice. I figured it might be a little troublesome towards the peak but now I know for sure.
Coire Etchachan on the east side of Macdui is a good place and sets you up nicely for an early morning trip to the top.
If you don't want to go all the way up to the lochan, you pass the Hutchinson memorial hut on the way up. Even if that's full, there's space for camping around it.
Just make sure to find a fishing spot https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6mZUzcSxi_/?igsh=MWhrYmUwY2c4b3hqbw==
What is your route? Plenty good camping spaces throughout the Cairngorms
