My LGS sent this in their newsletter, how close is this to MSRP?
Thank you hahah, I definitely will
Not even a markup if this price includes tax.
Wait MSRP is $35?
My local sold them for $20...I'm confused now
They’re probably confused. /s
They host official tournaments. Is it possible they get a better deal through Bandai on products?
Though I still don't understand why they wouldn't charge MSRP then...but they've always seemed honest and trustworthy.
No. Bandai doesn't sell them directly to small businesses. One Piece comes through GTS or Alliance in the US. Unless they fell off the back of a truck, they sold them at near cost. Maybe they saw the price for a starter and thought Bandai was pulling a hasbro and marked them down like I do for Magic the Gathering.
They definitely get cheap enough through bandai that they're still making money at $20, not much though.
My guess is that the wholesale cost for the product is somewhere around 50% (+/- maybe 10%) of the MSRP; So they are probably buying them in bulk for just under $20 each.
While this is not a great way to stay in business (undercutting their sales at fair market prices), it's still much appreciated as it's the opposite of price gouging (or scalping) which everyone seems to be complaining about.
Yeah that's what's so odd to me. Like I'd get it if there was product sitting around, as they have a huge competitor nearby that's a well-known FLGS that's been around for 25+ years, but those guys rarely get OP in stock and when they do it's $11 a pack. Everyone who plays OP plays at this store because they host tournaments and sell at normal prices. We'd all happily pay MSRP but he's undercutting himself for some reason on these decks.
Who knows, maybe they think it’s a regular starter deck (not ultra deck) which usually retails at MSRP of about $12.
Since the market price of the original starter decks sell for upwards of around $20, it’s possible they think that’s a “normal” marked up “market” rate for these decks too.
There is no real bulk for small businesses. All my orders for the last 3 sets have been allocated from whatever I try to get, 30 box, then 60, then 120 for the record, have been allocated down to 24 boxes.
I guess then it really just depends on the size of the business and what their "wholesale" rates are. Hard to estimate without more details.
I read they pay 22-24$ when msrp is $35. I’m not sure this is accurate.
This is 100% accurate for the stores near me.
It is, I paid 22.70 a box
Msrp for what product? Regular starter decks are MSRP $12 dollars, the ultimate decks are $30-35.
This, I have a feeling they're thinking of the starter decks
Nope. I asked if they had any of the new ST13: Three Brothers decks and he said the initial stock he got was all preorders, but when he gets more he'll make a post and they'll go on sale for $20.
They host monthly tournaments and weekly casual play; he knows which decks are what.
You live by the best LGS! My SCUMMY ass LGS is charging $119 for one
Actual dragons, foul, treasure hoarding, beasts
You must live in LA
Wtf that's actually disgusting!! I was pissed my LGS was selling at 50.00 but 119 is straight outrageous.
Might as well just shit in front of the door to tell them what you think of their business practices /s
Very good. MSRP is $35
yes
I got mine at walmart for $38.99
My local game store fake sold out when they released yesterday
And then released them all today at a 100% markup
Take this win!
Release date for the deck isn't supposed to be until Friday April 19th you could probably report them for breaking the date.
Beautiful 😍 🥹 a lgs with a conscience selling at damn near msrp price. Wholesome
Please tell your lgs I love them
I will hahaha. They're incredibly sweet and helpful there. No pre-order BS. And the one time I bought OPTCG before it was MSRP.
Heaven. If my lgs were like this I’d cream rn I stg
lol my b too far 😂
Yea, the Walmart by me sold them for 38.96
I’m going to pay €40 a piece. But then I live in a country with 21% VAT, so I don’t blame the TCG owner (other stores scalp the price like crazy)
It’s 50 euros in Greece
People are opening box opening pack and then selling the sealed deck and deck box for $35 so ya definitely not bad
And no mention of them taking out the promo pack. You really scored. This is about as good a deal on this product as anyone is likely to get
Was able to grab a box at this price from my local shop. Didn’t pull anything crazy from the promotion pack but was happy to get it at that close to MSRP!
Too bad I'm at work cause I know this is gonna sell out instantly like when they got op06
Limit 1 per person is kinda annoying cause you need 2 to build a deck.
Meijer is doing a deal, buy one get one 40% off so I got 2
Hell yeah, that's retail. I got 2 for my wife at $75 before release and $50 after.
u/mods this is literally where I got mine, It was the last box and I posted a pic and a mod took my post down because I didn't show the location of the product. toxic. no?
I got it for 40€ in Hungary. Sadly the price of the 3 cards that you can open it with are decreased pretty fast in 12 hours, except if you open Luffy leader which is still earns you back the money you spent
Not for the store. It should be $20 more.
Yes!
That's fair
My stores are scum...they premium them ...50 bucks...sick
I would have loved a 35 dollar box
Yes, $32.99 is base price.
Is this meant to be USD? Make sure you specify country
To be fair, on any post on this the entire website it's safe enough to assume USD unless the OP specifies otherwise or the number makes no sense
Make me
Ok, how about:
Could you please specify country next time? It's a nice thing to do
I paid $50 just to ensure I get one and will hunt tomorrow morning at a few spots like Barnes and Noble, Target, Fred Meyer and Walmart...ugh. My area is scalperville which sucks. All I see is 60-80 for this set or people selling without the pack for retail. I may wind up buying that way as I am not in for the pack anyways.
WA state?
Yeah. Specifically Everett to Redmond. If you are in WA...new card shipment is Saturday and Monday at Fred Meyer. I talked to a clerk and he said he was gonna hold back the ability to buy more than 2 of the new deck.
cant you just look at the official site like everyone else and look at MSRP? what a dumb post no offense but it would have taken you less time to find MSRP than to make this reddit post.
The exact same could be said about your response. You literally provided no information on a post asking for information. Pretty dumb response, no offense.
Reddit is not their personal alexa...
You're right, sometimes reddit provides much better and more thorough answers than an Alexa would. Seems like there were plenty of people who were ready and willing to answer the question, rather than be rude on a reddit post. Lol
Yes, on a question with an opinion. This is literally "what is retail value for this item"...
Okay and?? Where is the issue here?
Msrp is $35, so that 2 dollar markup is honestly sickening /s
(yes, it's very good. give them a hug when you buy tomorrow)
