OlympusCamera: Talk about cameras, photos and lenses by Olympus (now OM System)

Looking to get this camera for my daughter secondhand. How much should I be expecting to pay for this?

Hi everyone! I recently found my old 16MP camera in the closet and fell in love with it again. It has USB and micro HDMI ports, but they don't seem to work for live streaming camera picture on tv or as a webcam. Any advice on how to make it work as a webcam? Thanks!

A couple of months ago I bought a used E-M10ii, which seemed to be in good condition. I totally love the camera, and have taken good care of it. Today I was out shooting, and the screen started to blank out when tilting, sometimes even when flat against the back of the camera, in which case a gentle push below the screen wakes it up.

I guess there are two options, 1) get it repaired or 2) use as is (throw away when totally dead) and by another to replace it.

What would you do in this situation? Is it a known issue? Could I expect to have the same happen to a repaired one or another bought used? Would an E-M5iii be a better option, is that a more robust camera or does it has similar issues? Was I just unlucky? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m in Denmark/Europe if that matters….

I am in the process of switching from Fujifilm (have been shooting X-T1 since the year it released) to m43, and I think OM-5 checks all the marks for me as I want a capable small body for still photography. However, my local shop offers a couple of E-M5 MK3s in pretty much perfect condition for the price that will allow me to get also a 17 f1.8 for the money I’d spend on OM-5 only.

Most of the reviews I got to read say that the two models are virtually identical with only a couple of computational photography features added, + better weather sealing and a new processor. And my question is how ACTUALLY different are the two cameras? Has anyone used both? Does the new processor add any speed or quality? Is there any other reason to pick OM-5 that I’m missing?

Anyone have tips for shooting a fireworks show using an OM-5?

Looking for a versatile lens so I don’t have to keep changing my lenses had the 14-42mm which was good but don’t like the image quality from that so trying to upgrade that and looking to add a good versatile lens. Also looking at leica 10-25 but that’s a bit expensive. If you have any recommendations please do let me know. Thank you

I recently got a Mju Mini Digital S camera, and I was wondering if it is possible to charge the battery using the included USB cable that plugs into the camera and connects it to a computer? Before I connected the camera, the battery icon was red, but after I left it there for a while, the battery icon turned green. Does this mean I can charge it with the USB cable? I went through the original manual and it says nothing about it.

(Also, I am wondering why it takes so long to copy over image files from the Mju to my computer. Do older photos take up more space or something?)

Hi, I bought a TG-7 camera, and it seems to only work when I "jump start" it - meaning that regardless of the level of the battery charge, it has to be connected to a power source in order for the camera to turn on. I know it's not the battery (I've tried 2 and they each function this way) because I've charged the battery, and I know it's charged because once I can successfully turn it on, I can disconnect it from the power source and it runs and functions like normal like you would expect with a full battery, But unless it's plugged into a power source like a USB wall outlet or external battery, it simply will not turn on when I press the power button.

I was wondering, has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you go about solving it or working around it?

Om20 is doing a weird thing. - every second shot the camera will freeze with the shutter open for about 2 -3 seconds. -during this time the battery light and beep is going off - the only way to stop it is to change the mode to off - it only does this when the camera has film loaded - pretty sure it’s every other shot

I just saw some old posts on the MU43 site saying Olympus was planning to add support for focus peaking in a firmware update. Anyone know anything about that? Did it ever happen?

Bought a used Olympus TG-5 on Ebay a few months ago, used it a few times to check it out and it seemed fine. I just arrived to Mexico for a week long vacation, and after half a day of shooting, the camera is dead. Before it dies, the rear screen would only show the sd card indicator flashing. After battery swaps, letting the battery die within camera, and letting the camera sit all night with no battery to help reset it, the camera now no longer turns on at all. I have tried several fresh batteries, with and without an SD card inserted, and nothing.

I looked up the OM Systems repair website and they need a serial number to begin repairs. Wouldnt you know it, the previous owner removed the serial number plaque/sticker from the camera!

So, how screwed am I?

Hello, this is my first post here and I just wanted to ask a question. Is there a service where I can find CAD files for camera parts like for the mechanism o the lens door that turns the mju on or off, mainly the plack plastic pieces so that I can just have it printed without having the need to buy a whole other camera just to harvest it off from it.

my olympus stylus panorama button has popped off (button where you can slide up and down changing the size of the picture). is there any fix for this? i’ve tried putting it back in but it’s not attached to whatever was inside anymore.

My wife and I are new to photography. I am getting her a camera for her graduation. We are traveling to SE Asia for a few months shortly after. She'll have a month to learn how to use a camera before leaving. She has no specific style of photography or subjects in mind. Just amateur travel photos and see where the hobby takes her.

To preface: I am a complete digital camera newbie. I recently got my hands on an Olympus PEN E-P3, took some pictures of my cats, and now it's time to get them off the SD card. So... how do you guys go about processing .ORF files? The windows 10 photo viewer doesn't support them. Any open-source file viewers or converters? (photoshop is, sadly, off the table)

I can't find any screen protectors on Amazon that explicitly state they will work on an E-M5 mk1. There are plenty for the mkII and mkIII.
