Need some help planning a two night stay near La Push

EDIT: I could've sworn I had read that dogs were allowed on the beaches but the permit application for Hole in the Wall says otherwise. Looks like only the Kalaloch area allows camping with pets. I have a feeling that whole area will be super busy as it looks like car camping. Are we out of luck?

Looking to camp on the North Coast, going to be on a road trip from CO.

2 people plus a dog
May 29-31
Never been to this area before

Tentatively settled on Hole in the Wall north of Rialto Beach. The hike up the beach to Hole in the Wall sounds perfect for us, however, I'm not sure how to interpret these tides:

Another point of concern is weather. Average temps and precipitation in late May seems fine, but again, we've never been there before.

Finally -- while there seems to be a ton of permits available for the area, I have no idea how busy it'll actually get, anybody have prior experience with this time of year?

Advice? Recommendations?

When the line is at the top then that is high tide, bottom is low tide! The higher the line, then the higher the tide, backwards for low tide. There should be times somewhere on that chart. It might rain, it might not. Might be windy or calm. Could even be sunny, but could also be overcast. It more than likely won’t snow.

I guess I should've been more clear -- I understand how to read a tide chart but having not been to the area, I don't know what camping is like there at these tide levels (i.e., how close are the campsites to the water, is it dangerous, etc).

Either way, looks like dogs aren't allowed so it doesn't matter anyway. Will have to come back some day without him.

It's a long standing tradition here on the peninsula to rain on Memorial Day Weekend. Dogs are an issue as they are not permitted on most trails. And they do ticket violators.

Everything will be busy and dogs are only allowed in a few spots, yes.

Drag the little ball to see the tide numbers. Low tide those days around 5:45pm. Be mindful that you can get stuck at hole in the wall and other places if the tide comes in. Follow the tide out, get back to an accessible place before it comes back in.

You are out of luck if you dont have a permit for camping at Kalaloch unless there are some still free. Also yes, you aren't supposed to bring dogs on the beach, I think there are only a couple of places within Olympic National Park that allows dogs. It's a national park and like almost all national parks have limited access for dogs. Don't be that person and break the rules.

Prepare for both sun and rain: sunglasses/sunblock, but also a good rainhat (with a chin-tie) that can double as a sunhat. Wear layers and a sturdy pair of walking shoes.

May 29, 30, and 31 are Weds., Thurs., and Fri., so should be less busy.

Note: Dogs are not allowed past Ellen Creek, thus not at Hole-in-the-Wall. Dogs (leashed) are allowed at Ruby Beach, which also has sea-stacks and tidepools.

Pets are allowed in ONP/ONF campgrounds, designated ONP trails (Ruby, Kalaloch, and South Beaches, for instance), and on ONF trails.

South Beach Campground is first-come/first-served. I'd shoot for that one.

Note that Ellen creek is about halfway down Rialto beach. There is some camping near it but it isn’t as nice as down by hole in the wall where your dog isn’t allowed. Mostly dogs are hard to deal with in the park.

You can do most of Rialto even at high tide if you don’t mind running for your life every once in a while.

Maybe just day hike with the dog and camp in Mora campground.

I believe that beach camping (with a backcountry permit) is only allowed north of Ellen Creek, beyond which dogs are not allowed.

You can only camp on the beach north of Ellen Creek with a wilderness permit. Dogs aren't allowed north of Ellen Creek.

Another option is to leave him with a friend or at a doggie hotel.
