So I bought Samsung 27" Odyssey G6 OLED (G60SD)

So I pre-ordered Samsung 27" Odyssey G6 OLED (G60SD) on their official website, the experience so far is horrendous.

24 hours after receive:

Found 1 dead pixel

HDR color looks bad (to me), the default profiles are either too warm / too cold
Brightness is ass compared to my last monitor (27M2V)
Filed a case on Samsung's website

76 hours after receive:

Finally got back from Samsung CS, then straight up refused a refund but is willing to send a replacement
Forces me to wait "a couple of days" before actually sending a replacement

Conclusion:

I will never, ever buy products from them again. I knew I should've went for the MSI or Alienware variant, Samsung doesn't even cover burn-in like MSI

Why is it refurbished or a replacement unit, and not DOA...

From my personal perspective, the Samsung original G60SD is notable only for its superior mechanical components, passive cooling technology (OLED Safeguard+), and screen coating technology (Odyssey Glare Free), which are far better than other brands. Its average power consumption of 38W is also much lower than other brands' 50W+. However, the G60SD's HDR 4K/120Hz mapping, VRR, DSC, and FRL performance are far inferior to GIGA and MSI, only slightly better(FRL&DSC) than DELL.

You got a faulty panel. As far as the colours, you need to configure the settings on the monitor.

Hey, I hope you get your replacement. I am in Turkey so the CS is very different here it seems. Anyways, are you on win 11?

These are my monitor settings without changing other stuff:

Original (Dont forget to do Picture Reset after choosing Original)

Brightness: 35 (change to your needs first then do other settings from windows)

Color: 35 ( change to 25 for more vivid and set color space to Native)

Contrast Enhancer: off

Hdr tone mapping: off

Color Tone: Warm 1

Color Space: Auto ( set to Native for vivid colors)

Peak Brightness: Medium

Dont forget to set display to 2560x1440p, 360hz with RGB and 10-bit to get hdr

After setting these go to display settings on windows 11 and set hdr to on, get in the hdr settings and set on to 3 hdr related settings.

Then download Windows HDR Calibration from microsoft store. Do the calibration it takes like 2 mins. Then apply finish by saving the color profile.

Then go back to hdr settings and set the beightness settings for sdr content on display settings in windows.

I used LG C2 42" for 2 years and on it windows 10 hdr was worse than win 11 hdr, like a lot of worse. I hope this is helpful cus npt getting a refund for even 1 dead pixel sux.

I tried both and both seemed fine at 1440p 360hz 10 bit, no difference between hdmi 2.1 and dp 1.4

I changed color to 35 cus I think you lose some details after 36. Also for a more vivid look you can try: Setting color to 25 and color space to Native.

I wanted the G6 OLED as well but the technology really ain't that quite up there yet. Basically a lottery atm. It's rightful that you get a replacement. Good luck

To me its weird that green line starts from the silver casing and not panel itself. Like it got f-ed up in delivery.

Which is super weird because i specifically asked about burn in warranty on S95c and they said its covered.

I know its a TV but its from the same manufacturer, so you would think its covered but apparently not.

In Europe you can send back your online purchase, absolutely no questions asked, as long as you give them back the whole packaging, within a 14-day window. Some retailers like Amazon even bump that up to 30 days.

Also, this monitor has a 3-year warranty in Europe, not a 2-year one. And it covers burn-in by law. You can even take it yourself to any authorized service shop, without a need to even contact your retailer. Even if it's been bought from another EU country.

But yeah, to the OP - even the MLA W-OLEDs are nerfed to around 250 nits, even worse - they're just a tad brighter but the color luminocity is even worse. So there doesn't seem to be anything substantially brighter on the market currently.

I specifically talked to customer support about this and the new Samsung G80SD and G60SD both have burn in warranty as long as the safety features are active - which they are by default. Thats the info I got from talking to a customer service rep.

Probobly not whole Europe. In Sweden the warranty is 2 years and doesn't cover burn in. I also can't find information that burn in or similar should be included by law since it usually count as wear and tear.

The Swedish CS also confirmed no burn in warranty :(

Hmm, thought it was EU-wide. I'm personally based in Bulgaria. I think a couple of people over this reddit have asked Samsung support and they've confirmed the burn in warranty. But might vary from country to country indeed.

I've decided to turn on the monitor to max brightness, displaying a Zebra pattern image 24/7, and see if I can get some burn-in before exchanging back to back. This is my way of saying fuck you

If Samsung is dicking you around just tell them you're going to initiate a credit charge back immediately as the product is defective and they are not offering you a suitable resolution.
