New Jersey zone 7. Wondering if the tall bellflower, golden glow, and the grasses (path rush, poverty oat) are big enough to go in the ground yet? This is my first time cold stratifying, success rate wasnβt so great - marsh marigold, wild strawberry look like they didnβt make it :/
Are my cold stratified plants ready for the ground?
PhotosTheyβve been in the tub but the lid has been off on warmer days . Not sure I can get a fan on them and keep them in the sun at the same time , no power in the yard..:( any suggestions?!
if the lid has been off then that should be fine. maybe set them out outside of the tub and keep on eye on them before putting them in the ground.
Thank you for the help. I could actually probably move them to a little grow station in the basement under a grow light for a week. With a small fan. It would be a bit of a shift environment tho. Would you recommend that over just sitting on top of the tub? I appreciate all the advice!
i would leave them outside since they are already acclimated to the sun, which is the biggest part of the hardening-off process.
yea these look pretty good to go.
props for growing small graminoids. Danthonia is a favorite β youβll have to keep larger things away, and, like, one errant tree leaf can smother it.
they look ready, however, have they been in that tub the entire time? before you put them in their permanent place, i'd put them somewhere where they can get some controlled wind exposure or point weak fan at them for a week or so. if they haven't had a chance to develop wind resistance, they will just flop over at the first strong gust they encounter and that would be bad news.
