I started viewing houses when I believed conditions of my contract were going to be more favourable. I had my house offer accepted in March, just received my job contract this week despite being promised it in the second week of April. It’s my first ‘proper job’ as I graduate this year.

I believed the contract would be a 12 month fixed term from September ‘24 to September ‘25. It has turned out to be September ‘24 to July ‘25. I am a teacher - fixed term contracts are quite common. I’ve been doing unqualified teacher (as have not graduated yet) since April for the school employing me in September. My current aspect is on a casual contract, contract for September states a start date of 1st Sept but also states that my employment started with them in April.

I have saved approx. £30k from working since I was 16 and a part-gift from a distant family member. The house is 150k.

How likely am I to be accepted still? I do have a mortgage advisor but they’re being quite non-committal and it’s stressing me out as paid solicitors etc for searches!
