Stories 3, when and what we could get?

I've been seeing comments everywhere about a possible stories 3 and how they hope it come out, I wanted to make this post to speculate

I think the latest this game can release is 2026, seeing how they brought back voice actors and new ones for a remaster seems like too little which is my first reason for thinking they are working on it right now

Capcom did not expect the success of stories 2 so never thought of stories 3 being a possibility, let alone working on a dlc for a game they didn't know would do good, I would like to believe after the success they started storyboarding the game

I would say this is more of a weirder statement but capcom loves doing sequel games, just look at street fighter and resident evil

And why stop making games for a successful franchise such as stories which has the benefit of having a well established ip connected to it

I hope to god they announce it at the end of the year with a 2025 summer release but realistically I don't see that happening

Let's all hope that news comes soon enough and we get a sequel to an amazing game that deserves it

I predict that they’ll force another rathalos on us, but perhaps not a red one. There’s five to choose from— green, azure, pink, silver and gold.

To be fair, in both MHS1 and MHS2 we don’t start out with said Rathalos for plot reasons. They did it well enough that I don’t get annoyed, and actually feel special.

They might also try for a hybrid, too. Tho I would love to get a different cat other than Navriou. Don’t get me wrong I like him as a character, but he’s not aesthetically pleasant to look at. Unfortunately he’s the mascot of MHS so we’re stuck with him forever.

Based on MHS2, it will probably come out between 1-2 years after wilds, and will contain monsters from Rise, but not any from Wilds.

it'd be nice if we could pick our plot important monstie, so everyone can play through with their favorite. And gradually increase stats along with the story so it wont start OP and then become weak.

Most people would say a trinity like the raptors but personally I think any mid game wyvern would be really good, like astalos, lagiacrus, zinogre or even nibblesnarf as starter monsters could be very interesting, making every new playthrough actually feel new

No more Ratha. Please. We have three of the big red bastards already. Give us anything else. I get that it’s the flagship of Monster Hunter as a whole, but deviations keep things fresh.
No more Navirou. Please. I don’t hate him, but two games with him in a leading role is plenty. He’s not that funny, and he’s not that cute. He’s helpful and supportive enough that I don’t despise him, but he’s still only a passable character.
My most personal wish: some form of customization for your Monsties. Let me give them bow or flower wreaths or something. Hell, I’d settle for a customizable saddle.
Dialogue Options for the protag. Even if just a couple here and there, it’d be nice to get to voice my opinions on the story and characters. It doesn’t have to be big, or even have an impact on the story.
I want to see Kyle, Kayna, and Ena again, preferably with redesigns. No point in making new and interesting characters just to drop them during the sequel. I like what they did with Cheval, Liliya, Avinia and Reverto- hoping that happens in 3 with some of the 2 characters. 2 did a great job with both reintroducing old characters and creating new ones, after all.

I think you should be allowed to customise your own palico who helps in battle, I agree with the ratha thing, and capcom may listen

I'd like to definitely see most of the old cast not just as cameos but key to the story

Monster customisation woul be incredible, instead of having just a zinogre, you can make it your own zinogre, with customisation to saddles, monster armour, pendants and if you want to go further, changing the colour of the monster to really make your zinogre different from another person's zinogre

Navirou needs to go

All your ideas are definitely stuff capcom should hopefully think of doing

Maybe a long shot, but I’m hoping for a Gore Magala to take the place of Ratha. Given that both Monster Hunter Stories center around dealing with infectious afflictions, having your personal Monstie be the source of the next plague-like condition might be appropriate.

Another thing we desperately need: dual field move Monsties. Can we not have one that has Ivy Climb and Rock Breaker? One with both Jump and Swim? I just think it might be nice to have even a small handful of Monsties that can perform two traversal actions. Then I wouldn’t need every slot in my party to go not to a Monstie that I need, but to ones that I want.

Also, I’d kill for little mini-games somewhere. Just as a little break if hunting and battling ever wear you out.

I think we’ve safely been delivered enough Navirou, yeah. He’s far, far from the worst possible companion that a game could have, and he’s downright helpful here and there… but it’s been enough, honestly. He was fine in the first game, fine in the second game… but he was only ever fine. Never outright good. I just feel like there’s not much more they can do with him? Would I want a cameo? Yes! Do I want the same guide three times in a row? Absolutely not.

Having gore is a wild shot bit would be incredibly interesting

Minigames like a cooking game, arm wrestling or something sort of gambling game would be fun minigames

While Gore as the main partner is a bit of a stretch IMO (mostly in regards of Capcom replacing Ratha, Gore would be like, an easy second pick after that), I think Gore being in the game (Rideable hopefully) is fairly likely since both Gore and Shagaru were on that datamine list from the second game.

My one wish us that we don't just have a Rathalos as our main Monstie again. Stories 2 overall had a surprising amount of overlap with the first game plotwise, and I know we're gonna have to have a fixed main monstie because the plot will have to revolve around it, but let us have something real unique for a change.

We'll probably get some news of a Stories 3 between Wilds expansion and the next action title. Somethings I would like to see is, from Stories 1 monsties have built in attacks and abilities relating to the monster.

The absolute soonest I can see it coming out is 2026 and that’s assuming they don’t wait for wilds G expansion
Stories 1 came out after Cross (Japanese mhgen) but before double cross (Japanese GU) in 2016 and included content up to 4u with glavenus making an appearance as a post launch monster Stories 2 came out after rise but before sunbreak in 2021 I’d say the soonest we would see stories 3 would be at best right around the time of wilds G expansion which would presumably be 2026 any sooner than that and it would receive practically no new content other than rise monsters (which there aren’t even that many of)

As much as I'd love for them to do a 2025 release a few months after wilds, I would know that it wouldn't be realistic, 2026 is more realistic if we want to actually have wilds content and quality gameplay and story

No more Ratha, it's getting stale. If we must, can I rename him? No more Naviru, I hate him as a character, not funny, not cute, not interesting, he's just a stand in for your character talking. Either less traversal skills, or a was to be able to use them all, even if it's just a whistle to call your monstie to you. Individual armor pieces for the rider. More monsties that normally can't be, if I'm this prodigy, I want to feel like it "that monster is supposed to hate humans, but you managed to ride one?" More Elder Dragon monsties. Mini games, something to do in the world than hunt and collect.

I hope this becomes a sub series and they continue making more. Not a fan of mainline games but I really enjoy Stories.
