I'm sure we've all been there. That at least one monster that has you trying everything but you can't win. For me there were quite a few. In GU, it was Great Maccao, don't judge me. In base Rise, it was Magnamalo, I absolutely hated it at first and almost gave up. And now in Sunbreak, it's Gaismagorm. I got crushed by it recently and now it's more of a wall than any monster. I'm still hesitating to hunt Glavenus in GU. But if I can't break this wall, I could always go back to GU for a while.
Was there ever a monster that made you doubt yourself as a hunter?
DiscussionGreat Maccao is possibly the greatest skill check in all of Monster Hunter and I refuse to accept otherwise.
I tried Hub Great Maccao thinking it would be easily soloable like Rise’s Hub.
It took me 2 carts and 35 minutes, and RNGesus’ blessing with the Veggie Elder.
I'm not afraid to admit that I still get my shit rocked by Hub Great Maccao.
What does this say about me, when my first ever game was GU? Am I cracked?
You quite possibly are.
Well gen was a game for fans of the series, so they had no reason to hold back on the introduction Boss. Hes probably closer to Great Baggi, or Gendrome then Jaggi.
Triple carted twice with different weapons, GS and SA, then came back and bashed it with a Hammer
Same, after all my impressive accomplishments in Iceborne and my Rise playthrough I headed to GU and got my butt handed to me by it. Dude has no concept of chill.
Had that with the fucking crab for some odd reason.. Pissed me off to no end.. So I feel the "Odd one" pains xD
The Great Maccao skill check was so foul! I couldn’t drink a potion without losing half that HP
Barroth in MH;Tri.
I don't remember too much of Tri, but this one was probably the biggest wall to me.
But still has the best early Lance armor when it's in a game
I don't think there is a single monster that embodies lance users better.
Just to be clear, Barroth in subsequent games seemes pretty chill. Not sure if it was just weirdly strong in Tri, but I had no issue with it in World, even if I didn't touch any MH game for over half a decade at that point.
It helps that in Tri, they just introduce the Switch Axe right before the Barroth, so I wanted to use it. Turns out that a weapon with like 10 hits of green sharpness is no good against a Barroth. Making a new file later and sticking with hammer made the fight much easier.
But yeah, I expected Barroth to be harder in World because of that experience. It was, comparatively, very easy.
I don't think Barroth got much weaker (I think only his mud snipes were changed), rather hunters got way stronger. We didn't have as much mobility in Tri and everything bounced off its head.
Ah, MH3 Barroth..... he was my first true wall once I had a basic understanding of how to play the game and could consistently sorta deal with Great Jaggi and Qurupeco.
This but the Gobul. I know I was a child when I played it but I did not know about the fishing trick and spent hours just swimming underwater trying to find that stupid fish
Me too. I played that game like 10 years ago when the wii still was a thing. And I was not clever enough then to understand how the game worked.
Barroth in Tri was a huuuuuge MF. The really nerfed it afterwards tho. In Tri it's attacks had nearly no ending lag and it's charges were super fast.
You literally could see that in 3rd and 3U they only slowed down some of its attack animations, the fight partially looked a little like a slow-mo.
MH4U Brachy. Specifically the one in the HR caravan quest. I had been more or less breezing through quests, rarely ever coming close to failing, and this bitch comes out of nowhere and bodies me in like, 5 minutes.
The green one? I recently came back and still need to complete his armour. No idea how I can kill him offline.
Yeah, it feels like I need to go with a bunch of HR 999s to get the armor I need lmao. It's even harder since they shut down the online stuff, and I don't think pretendo is up for MH4U
Green? You mean raging? He’s not in HR or caravan. He’s probably talking about the frenzied brachy quest.
In 4U it was the double Tigrex quest. I must have failed that quest thirty times. A couple times I managed to time it out, but that quest was just a wall. I had an easier time with Proof of a Hero.
**Found the post I made like 8 years ago crying about it.
Yeah Tigrex is a beast. I've triple carted to it plenty of times. But it's still one of my favorites
One Tigrex was absolutely fine. Back to back was as well. But two at the same time was rough.
Rajang bodied me in MHW lmao
At first it was for me too in any game
rajang. since psp . that stupid huge pink monkey still haunts my nightmares
i still can't play it without overdoing it.
rajang aint pink, you mean congalala?
any stupid monkey rajang congala, furious rajangm do not ask me why . i just get scared
Blangonga was always the bane of my existence in the older games. The super man punch and turning you into a snowball I hated 😂
and i know it's a stupid game, not even in first person, not even scary but i do not why it triggers something and i cannot play with the proper mood
dw, we all got that mon. for me its zino, i just hate it. worst flagship
well it means it's a well designed monster
Pink monkey? That's Congalala. Rajang is yellow and black isn't it? But yes I see Rajang is a problem monster even for me and it's still a personal favorite.
i mean rajang AND theat other stupid pink monkey. any stupid primate in this game
Yeah Congalala is just that bad. Blangonga gave only a bit of trouble but Bishaten in Rise wasn't so bad. But Kecha Wacha just keeps moving
Hyper Silver Rathalos in GU. I play solo only. That mf made me put down GU for a while.
Any hyper rath is a nightmare tbh
I can understand that. Hyper monsters can be a pain even though I haven't gotten that far
Alatreon in every iteration.
Got pretty obsessed with soloing it in 3U, then quit World because of it and Safi. I've got better things to do than get driven insane by video game dragons.
Wonder if I get to G in 3U or GU how good or bad I'll be against it but it should have good armor
No. I’m too stupid to doubt myself
Man if only I was that good. I only had very little doubt when it comes to urgent quests.
I’m not good. I suck dick at games but I still play them cause they’re fun.
Head is empty while gaming
I'm bad at MH too but it's still fun to play
Can't even judge you for Great Maccao, its prolly the hardest "weak early monster" from the series (and my favorite one too)
I tried my top 3 weapons once each. Got wrecked using GS and SA but surprised myself as a Hammer bro
Alatreon. Only monster I'd ever call my nemesis. 4 months of trying everything, of trying to learn the fight. Never have I met such a hopeless, despairing, borderline masochistic boss as Alatreon. Really made me doubt if the series was meant for me.
same, spent a week on there trying so many things, but i really leveled me up as a hunter, even after so many past titles. then came fatalis and stuck again haha.
I sure hope that's not my case with Gaismagorm or Amatsu.
Fight him and Fatalis for like 6 hours straight the first time I ever fought them definitely some of the hardest fights I had in gaming for a long while
Tzitzi Ya-Ku. Every attack knocks you over. Makes me doubt myself in every possible way.
Isn't it just joyful when he starts spamming his little kick attacks and you just keep running into them like a moron being permanently floored? Happens to me all the time against that asshole, despite how easy he actually is those little backward kicks are the bane of my existence.
MH4U GQ140 Basarios
I didn't know a tail wiggle could be so dangerous.
The 140 quests are all fucking brutal
funny i soloed that one for fun and bragging rights. Wasnt to bad, just hit the Legs. But his chip damage does add up pretty fast, and hard.
Nargacuga in the generations demo. I considered it my right of passage to defeat them.
Flaming Espinas was my group's wall for the longest time. Conversely, we best Gaismagorm first try, and on Monsters that did cart us three or four times, it only only take two more attempts at most. I'm dreading how arduous the crown hunting for him is going to be.
Purple mizutzune and world's rajang
Mizu's bubbles will hurt that's for sure
Black gravios made me wanna tear my hair out in 4u, not overly difficult, just never ending bouncing
Haven't played too much of the series but MHW Alatreon whooped me so bad, fella did so much psychic damage in just a few attempts that I grinded for a month before I even tried again, beat Fatalis on my second try because I got so much better preparing for Alatreon
All three Fatalis and Alatreon are devastating from what I've seen.
Nergigante made me quit the game for a while
Took me ageeeeeees to beat him solo in his nest! That dive bomb would always fucking get me! 🎃
MHFU Kirin.
Fuck Kirin.
Do you know how hard it was to hunt that bitch on a psp? It moves faster than my fucking frames can keep up. And I gotta use X O □ ∆ to turn the damn camera?? Nah. Fuck you Kirin. And fuck you every Kirin after.
Yian kut ku, monster hunter ps2
Other than Great maccao, who throws hands like no other, I'd say either Sunbreak Amatsu or Violet Mizutsune. I'm garbage at both fights despite years of experience with longsword and the games, I revert to a noob every time against them and make stupid mistakes etc.
Sunbreak amatsu wrecked me
4U hub pink rath
Might have to prepare when that one comes up for me
Seething bazelgeuse passively shitting out bombs and interrupting combos 🫠
I just need to unlock Seething in Sunbreak
The Tigrex in iceborne
He was an absolute beast
Risen Valtrax in sunbreak went crazy before you figure out how to avoid/counter his moveset
For me it was Velkhanana in Iceborne, she's so good at keeping you away from her with that ice breath. I spent a good few days trying to finally beat her in the main story. I eventually got there, but man was the victory hollow at that point, I was just glad to be done.
Back when I started the game with Tri, Barroth gave me a pretty hard time first. I fought him over and over, even had to learn Lance just for him.
When I finally got him, it felt very satisfying, and I basically breezed through every following monster. Until I met that screecher named Gigginox.
It took me as much attempts as Barroth to take it down, this time with the only melee weapon with fire damage that was available up until then, the Qurupeco SnS.
After this, the only other wall was Barioth, but I got him way faster down, because I realized that breaking its wings was a great way of slowing it down.
Currently its just Hyper Silverlos, and 3U Alatreon, im not sure if I can deal whit that Guys.
Diablos from world, i just couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to properly evade his large af charge hit boxes then there was that dumb bs where he would knock you onto your butt and chain it into a charge attack that is all but guaranteed to hit and kill you.
Lunastra in world. I just don't get it. I just cant
I hate fighting her! 🎃
I think disufiroa on mhf back when the servers were on. It's too much headache to keep up with everything, and I failed more times I could count at the time.
Khezu virtually every game he is in. I don't know what there is about him, but his rhythm is all over the place and carting to 8-incher is damaging my self esteem
Worst thing about Khezu is the screech
G Rank Plesioth always made me mad for obvious reason, why have the hit box disparity become a part of the monsters identity?
In 4U, G rank Stygian Zinogre l. The freaking constant homing bugs that disable your element are really annoying.
Behemoth when we went with normal strat and not the healer&aggrotank strat
Pleshiot in FU, that pos of fish was way harder that my little monkey brain could deal with
3U and GenU Plesioth for this guy
Safi'Jiiva. In World I still can't beat that guy.
World was the first monster hunter game I played, and Tobi-Kadachi was a major wall for me. Fast forward to now and it’s one of my favorite monsters to fight.
He was the first monster in World that carted me as well, World being my first MonHun. He's always had a special place to me, I just love the electric bastard. Over time fighting him was still fun, but not really a challenge anymore. Fast forward to trying Rise, guess what bastard decided to floor me repeatedly was? Yep, our old friend Tobi, I was delighted.
I hit a wall I still can’t surpass today at worldborne Alatreon. I’ll get it one day then it’s on to the end goal of soloing fatalis.
For me in rise its 100% teostra
The most recent case of a monster that walled me so hard that I doubted my skills was gogmazios in MH4U.
That Witcher quest. Ughh
Sun break spoiler! ⚠️⚠️
MR Allmother Narwa for me, absolutely couldn’t get past her. I tried multiplayer and single player so many times and it just didn’t work, eventually I was able to beat her and she was like nothing else to fight but persevere!
HR Allmother was bad enough! I'm definitely gonna need Farcasters to stay standing if she pulls out the Dragonators. I could dodge the crazy light shows but those spikes always got me.
The jump over to Iceborne made me take a step back and reassess.
In Rise, it was the Magnamalo for me as well. However, some of my favorite games come from FromSoftware, creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. When I see an insurmountable challenge, it tickles my brainrot in such a way it releases dopamine. Never have I doubted myself as a hunter. I only vowed to improve what I already had
I also have yet to play DSR w/ all the DLC but really want to. Magnamalo at first was so hard, I triple carted so many times. I even resorted to Long Sword which I suck at to get that first win, and that was after carting twice and using every potion I had. In high rank I tried countering with it, could barely do it. But this wall I have now in Sunbreak is my biggest challenge yet. And it's gonna feel so good breaking through that giant wall.
Started playing in MHW. When Goku’s adopted son popped in, my exact words were “what’s the worst that can happen”. My first attempt and I thought I can solo it - I found out what the worst was.
Probably predictable, but alatreon. Me and my 2 friends did probably about 100 hunts before we were able to bear it. The issue is that we were doing everything right. Builds, how the fight went, etc. It's been a while but I'm still certain about this. The only thing we could really come to is that it scales the same whether it's 3 or 4 people, so we were at a disadvantage for having 3. We did it eventually, but I kinda felt awful in my ability.
I remember being kinda bad when I started world. I remember it took some adjustment when I started GU between world and iceborne, and it took coming back after I played iceborne to really get into it. Playing iceborne is when I really got into monster hunter, and when I found a weapon I liked the most. (Insect glaive) So it felt awful when we just couldn't beat a dps check no matter what we did, all after I witnessed myself improve so much.
I want to go back and fight him again. I've played a lot more monster hunter since then.
A lot of people get wrecked by Alatreon it seems. I'm sure I would too.
First wall I hit was primordial malzeno, bro was rocking my shit for like 2 weeks
The G guy in rise also gave me some trouble, around 6 hours of it
So far in world I haven't hit a wall that's stopped me as long as those two (Currently having beat raging brachy)
Blackveil Vaal Hazak. I've never struggled as much as I did against him. I've been soloing the MH series since the original, but BlackVeil Vaal Hazak genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Ended up having to get help, as I just couldn't get past it on my own.
Had full effluvia resistance and all that, my gear was up to par, damage and all. I just couldn't deal with the constant area of effect damage and lifesteal.
Tigrex, something about it I can't click to
I was thirteen got frontier on the psp as it was the most badass cover art id seen. Got to Tigrex and bodied for 3 hours straight. Put the game down for years Restarted and the rest is history.
pretty much all of them, I suck at this franchise so bad that I don't even consider myself a hunter, I get hit more than the monsters do.
Nothing special for me, just the rajing fucker himself
Nah, I’m built different (Zinogre)
Dodogama
Peaceful monsters don't deserve to be killed
Bloodbath Diablos XV.
Couldn't find a decent group online, and had to solo it (randoms in turns lobby just triple cart). Took 2 months, had to drop valor HBG and learn valor LS from scratch.
I was thinking about LS in GU myself. But I have a handful of other weapons I like using. But yeah Bloodbath is a beast and I'm still stuck on low rank
Great maccao and vaal hazak
Alatreon was my first wall in a very long time after playing effortlessly for over a decade. My first few tries made me think i must suck ass at this game and my last 2000h were simply a fluke.
MH4U Brachy. Specifically the one in the HR caravan quest. I had been more or less breezing through quests, rarely ever coming close to failing, and this bitch comes out of nowhere and bodies me in like, 5 minutes.
I'm not that far in 4U but thinking Brachy equipment can still be good despite the nerfs.
alatreon, I will never recover from black blazing twilight, after what seemed I think 85 failed runs I resorted to the worst thing that I could resort to, cheats
All of the Gou quests in Frontier. Espevially Teostra's. That last rank was hell for me.
Granted I probably wasn't using everything I should have been, but... I still feel like I should have been able to manage better.
Supremacy Teostra almost made me drop Frontier, but I'm glad I stuck with it though because the game gets so much better once you clear the HR6 wall and get to G rank.
Shogun Ceanataur. I've been playing since MHFU and I just never seem to get any better at fighting this thing, no matter which weapon I use, and the introduction of bleed status made me want to avoid it even more.
I still love its design and its armour, but good Gog do I hate fighting it.
Rise Tobi Kadachi. He fucked my shit up so bad i didn't know what to think
I'm surprised even though Kadachi moves not quite as fast as Nargacuga it was still hard to hit
Monster hunter world. I did an arena quest against a barroth, my current main (bow) wasn’t available but charge blade was (I use to main that in my first run) and… it was actually embarrassing how many times a barroth carted me since when I played charge blade they were never a problem. Safe to say I hate myself to this day.
The absolute, seething hate I feel for the Plesioth and its variants in MH and MHFU knows no boundaries....
Worldborne fatalis absolutely had me gripped by my soul and being lowered towards a blender.
At the the time my buddy who I had duo'd everything with the whole basegame and dlc(he used longsword and I used insect glaive) claimed fatalis was too hard and was going to quit the game forever due to how bad we got wrecked over the course of like 20 different hours in 3 days.
So after my buddy abandoned me, and every sos I tried failed miserably...I had to solo fatalis and win with my insect glaive alone or die trying. And I did die... a lot. Died trying many times.
But I got my fatty clear on the fifth day, convinced my buddy to come back, and we got a duo clear together, and now fatalis is one of my favorite fights. I got a solid 30 or so clears of him.
Only two other monsters were nearly as bad. One being arch tempered velkhana and tempered behemoth.
In rise and sunbreak, I struggled with some risen elder dragons and primordial malzeno, but nothing like fatalis.
Fatalis is brutal and I haven't faced one yet. I may struggle with Gaismagorm but need to fully upgrade my armors. Amatsu, PriMal, the Risen, all will be difficult even for me.
Right now it’s Alatreon in world for me. I understand the moves and fight gimmicks, but I just can’t avoid getting hit by it. I still can’t beat the weakened Alatreon to progress the endgame story either
I got stuck on the g-rank village quest bad hairday Rajang where you have to solo a g-rank furious Rajang. It took I don't k ow how many times with different weapons to finally kill it.
So yeah furious Rajang was being a dick as usual.
Alatreon from monster hunter 3. Absolute nightmare
Well I guess I'll have to be extra prepared for Alatreon
When I was just starting out: Lagombi. I TIMED OUT three times. I learned the hard way that equipment upgrades are vital
So far, Nibelsnarf and Cephadrome are the only monsters that have gotten me close to timing out. I know that the difficulty difference between Rise and GU is a lot, but its nice to know that I'm not the only one that hates these two.
Cephadrome just kept running from zone to zone. I don't think I was ever frustrated more by any monster. But Nibelsnarf wasn't so bad, almost a pushover since I just stayed in his blind spots
GU was the first MH game I got decently far into, so I completely understand Great Maccao. Honestly a lot of them made me have a double take, Barioth was a big one, and Brachy. But nowadays it's mostly the high difficulty monsters like Hazard Primordial Malzeno. I've got endgame gear and upgraded to the best I can without getting to AR200 but I can't even get PMal to his second form. Never beat Fatalis in GU either.
In my earliest MH days: Queen Vespoid. My inability to consistently hit to whilst constantly being Defence Downed and Paralyse spammed made me question if I was learning anything at all.
First time I hunted Velkana as a Lance main I started questioning my life choices.
I timed out on her twice because I couldn't keep up with her mobility.
It was miserable. I don't understand how slow weapons are meant to keep up with these highly mobile monsters.
Gobul was not ready for his hide and seek tactics
Val Hazaak was the first actual roadblock me and my friend ran into when we played World the last time, I'm still not sure how it was the first frankly, but we had some issues with it originally. The only other quest that ever made me annoyed at the game was the special arena double diablos quest.
My let's quit the game monster was was Gore Magala. I've NEVER been so abused. In order: The Magalas -> Diablos.
Diablos I totally understand and almost triple carted to Shagaru
Lagombi in the 3u demo. Trying to get me to grasp the worst weapons to try as a beginner(greatsword, bow guns, etc) while this bastard bunny was zipping around the place.
Rajang and Furious Rajang - I just can’t get his patterns down
So I played mhw with friends and always kinda felt like I was being carried by them.
I did completely fine against the deviljo when you have to save the handler but I was nervous the whole time that I wouldn't be able to carry on with my friends.
I played a lot more and even played on my own a bunch... But then I was the last of my friends to get to the sos flair point in the Fatalis fight and I was so worried after all this time we wouldn't be able to fight the biggest fight together. But I got there.
3U had Duramboros, and I just could not get the hang of fighting it. Eventually got through it with friends but I was stuck there for a while. Honestly I'd love to see them come back in a future game for a rematch xD
FU Tigrex. I’ll never forget getting chased around playing cat and mouse with this mf while trying to get popo tongues on that godforsaken mountain.
For me it was MH:Tri Barroth, it’s so different compared to MH:World Barroth
When Rise had the magnamalo demo that was super difficult I told myself I had to be able to hunt it. I tried for probably 6 hours straight before I got this huge stress headache. I realized I was investing too much of my self opinion in being "good" at the game. I beat it the next day with help but with a much better attitude.
I felt like I had to be good in a way like other people did it since I am a content creator but I don't. I just had to have fun. It HELPS that I beat it but I'd have been ok if I didnt
I hated demo Magna. And in the game its probably the one monsters that's thrashed me more than any other in Rise. I had to resort to sucking at Long to finally beat it the first time
When I first started playing it was Barroth in MHTri
Then later, it was Duramboros in MHP3rd (I think my weapon was weak, because the fights took 40+ minutes)
Most recently it was Raging Brachydios. Fun as hell, but definitely had me doubting my abilities.
Alatreon to this day, I’ve yet to beat him
Besides the usual suspects (World Anjanath, Iceborne Barioth, Rise Magnamalo etc), Tigrex is the one that comes to mind as one that, no matter how many times I kill it, I never feel more prepared for the next fight.
Tigrex to me always feels like all I do is just frantically dodge till he somehow manages to knock himself out, that's how it feels at least.
Currently am at HR 40 and trying to farm Narwa from the event quest. I slayed her once before but every time i go after her now i don’t get much father then the dragonator.
Trying to farm materials from her so i can go against teostra easier.
Yeah Narwa's insane. I had to really think during that hunt.
I struggled a lot with Velkana in world, but it was still fun. I can't remember if my armor was not up to the right level or if it was just that hard.
Doubt myself? Definitely World Fatalis. At this point I was already a veteran hunter, I’ve been playing since the PSP days and I know my own skills. But this bastard was just on an another level, he wasn’t a wall because I was new and learning the game, no I was the best I could ever be at this point, but that still wasn’t enough. It’s like the fight was designed so that if you didn’t master all the mechanics in the game you weren’t gonna beat him.
Scarred Yian Garuga in Iceborne literally scares me! Those multiple fireballs always fucking get me! 🎃
Mhfu double tigrex quest. It's actually why I ended up putting the game down for about 6 months. Still after many many months I never beat them.
Kushala Daora. Can deal with him now but the first times I had to fight him were unbelievably frustrating with all of his bullshit tornadoes and goofy af hitboxes and wind armor
Great Maccao is honestly the best first monster in the series IMO.
It’s just fast enough, just aggressive enough, but still has a significantly smaller health pool than most the roster.
Great for actually teaching you to play the game, the other first monsters tend to be punching bags.
(Honorable mention to great Izuchi who would be similar if he was in any game but rise. Rise hunters can still run circles around him).
Tbf, when I tried to play generations the first time I expected greta Maccao to just be babies first monster like every starting monster. I got rolled and had rethink my run and spam attack strategy
For me it was duramboros in 3u it is still the only monster to have ever made me run out if time
few times, im sure there are more but these are the ones i remember
1 time : plesioth on mh2 those hitboxes... made me learn the bow (playing on the ps2 with a device to play japanese games lol)
2 time: diablos on mh2 the game was japanese, there was no internet or guides, i kept attacking the head lol
3 time: volcanos (lavasioth) on frontier, wtf was that... way harder for the rank it was. some players would trap stunn him due to how absurd that fight was for its rank, absolute glorious fight tho, nothing compared to the joke he is today
4 time: velkhana on world, i was trying to use the GL so badly, later i realized it was bad choice, DB made a quick work of her
5 time: alatreon on world, wtf was that, i learned so many things with this end game fight
6 time fatalis: i got to use all i got from alatreon but wasnt enough, made me learn the switch axe for the face spam, later i realized DB made quick work of him like velkhana. These days i crave for a challenge similar to him but nothing compares, trying to go for MHGU to see what the super variants are about.
im sure there must be more...
Currently, Lunastra in her first quest in World/Iceborne. I have her husband down well enough to farm, but she's just different enough that it fucks me up entirely.
Zinogre the first time I fought him in P3rd, but now he's my good lil boy who likes to show me tricks.
Dual brachy urgent G rank quest in 3u, solo it was a pain, took me a lot of tries until I eventually beat it
Alatreon. I was going pretty strong, but he was a wall for several days until I finally got his number. Now he's just a fun dance I do sometimes.
Rathalos since FU. Bodied me the first 8 or 9 times going against it (was wearing blangonga armor) and ever since I consider it my nemesis
For MHR, it was AR1 Arzuros. The Qurios was a big surprised for someone playing Monster Hunter for the first time. End game bosses were more or less gear checks rather than skill checks.
In MHW it was Kirin. That stupid horse made me stop playing for three years. In sunbreak it’s magma almudron. No idea why his moves just throw me off
Arzuros (I had beaten the game, but was still getting dunked on by this monster for some reason)
Monster hunter world. When you get to the part of G rank where you can either fight the rajang or the bracydios. Guess who stopped playing after they couldn't beat either of them?
Well i love the series and as well zinogre and stygian its my fave. Then iceborne special assignment stygian came around and beat up my ass so bad while i beat the living shit out of the mr one 🤣 but the worst moment ive got was kirin i hate that fucking horse
Iceborne alatreon. Im a greatsword main soooo.. i did really have an elemental build
Most current one for me is savage deviljho in World. Fuck you savage deviljho (and go away while I am trying to get more killable monsters).
High rank village infected brachydios in MH4U
Iceborne Rajang. I still don't know how I should possibly beat it, I mostly get insta-killed by some one hit move or stunned and then finished off quickly. I have purple sharpness and use a crit/teostra build so it can't even catch me while sharpening my weapon. It just feels impossible to beat.
Kirin in world. It should have been an easy fight, but I'm just not used to hitting small agile monsters.
Worlds Barroth was my first real wall
Anjanath right after also wasn’t fun, but weirdly Barroth was the more difficult fight back in the day
that would be that one diablos at the end of mhfu high rank ( the one that has more health more than a g rank diablos) and every gravios I've ever fought
I know how much trouble Diablos can be but may need certain weapons for any of the rock monsters not just Gravios
Deviljho. He started showing up in hub quests, and I could not, for the life of me, kill him. Felt like he was meant to be an unkillable nuisance. It got so bad that it became a running joke between me and my friends.
Until, I finally captured one after going out of my way to select a quest with him as the main target. The relief I felt was immense.
Deviljho will do that. Go into high rank for the first time, he'll show up in every quest even if you don't see him.
Gigginox made take a break from 3u for like a month I don’t know why after beating him
Been soloing GU and currently G2 bloodbath diablos is destroying me.
I intend to solo GU myself and I'm not looking forward to the deviants for some reason.
Yeah, only having one cart on some of the G2 deviant quests is kinda frustrating considering the damage that they do.
Amatsu.
I’d never played MH before Rise and recently started my attempts at Amatsu. Generally speaking, my “builds” are nowhere near good and I am far from a mechanically good player. After about 8 fails solo (online is out of the question since every other game had people carting the first few minutes) I switched from insect glaive (I liked seeing the big numbers at the time) and went with old faithful, dual blades. Two more fails and a 10 min remaining timer warning later and I finally killed the damn thing. Haven’t had trouble with fights until that one and it definitely made me question myself lol.
Once I get a high enough rank In GU, I sure hope I'm prepared for the pain but until then I'll have to deal with Sunbreak Amatsu.
The Leshen from MHW. I have tangled with many a monster over the various games, none have taken more than like 2 tries but oh my god the leshen fight is just pure pain and is like 0 fun. Not to mention how long it takes to get back to him when you lose.
Hellblade Glavenus in Generations.
Teostra in SunRise. I don't really know why. I have a pretty decently fun and easy time with nearly every other monster in the game; none of the risens besides Teo really give me trouble, and I can handle hazard Primalzeno just fine, but for some reason even regular Teostra is a struggle
I'm concerned about Risen Teostra personally since I think I can handle the base one
Tbh (in Rise) one of my hunters is a hammer main and I questioned my ability with the hammer when the high rank Rathalos took me forever to take down. It was pushing 30 minutes! Other weapons work fine for me on the same hunt: dual blades, Switch axe, hunting horn. And my hammer skills were fine before then too, high rank monsters took me less than 20, even 15, minutes
I did not have the defender weapons/gear for any of them btw.
I'm playing through Rise on PS5 right now and Rajang definitely gave me a kick in the teeth.
I’ve been there too. Let me join you in the hall of shame.
