Detroit restaurant named among '50 Most Beautiful Restaurants in America'
NewsNo prices on their online menu. Google says their price per person is between $50-$100. I hate surprises.

Some reviews:
"Drinks were great, but the food wasn’t great and overpriced!"
"Pao serves up some seriously delicious dishes, no doubt about it. The decor is nice, but it lacks that inviting feel you'd hope for in a restaurant. And charging a 20% service fee for just two people at a small table? Not cool.
In short, if you're all about the food, go for it. But don't expect stellar service or a cozy atmosphere."
The free press ran an article highlighting new restaurants in the Detroit area. They were all high end. It’d be cool to get articles about mid range to cheap restaurants.
I mean, 20% is standard lol
Sure. But dont apply it to all but singletons as a service charge.
Sounds like Pao is good enough to be called beautiful from a design point, but shitty enough it cant afford to stay afloat without a markup that they figure will sink them if they just roll it into costs upfront and scare too many people away.
They basically are billing the ATT / Comcast method
Tipping 20% is standard. Tacking a service fee to a bill is typically done with larger parties, not for 2 people.
This place can't look as cool as the Whitney. These articles always seem to be just thinly veiled advertisements for newer places
PAO Detroit. Saved you a click.
It might have been nice for the article to include more than just that one pic.
