I despise Christmas songs as much as anyone, but I'm compromising with the wife to at least make an interesting playlist this year instead of the regular cringe radio Christmas shit. Any suggestions?
I made a Christmas playlist a couple of years ago. Here's the metal-ish stuff from it:
Meads of Asphodel - All Things Bright and Shit
Bad News - Cashing in on Christmas
Spinal Tap - Christmas With The Devil
Lemmy, Dave Grohl, Billy Gibbons - Run Run Rudolph
Beatallica - Winter Plunderband EP
Christopher Lee - Jingle Hell
Halford III - Winter Songs album (Mostly fucking awful!)
Onkel Tom Angelripper, Doro - Merry Metal Xmas
Gehennah - Sathana Claus
Twisted Sister - A Twisted Christmas album (there's also a live version)
Psychostick - Zombie Claus
Psychostick - Oh Tannenbaum
Blind Guardian - Merry Xmas Everybody
Kim Wilde, Lawnmower Deth - F U Christmas
There's also Coffin Fuck on Bandcamp, who generally release a song a year at Christmas time. They're a bit shit, but they know it.
When I was in highschool I was on flight from Atlanta to New York and was wearing a Deicide shirt. The middle aged suburban mom sitting next to me sees it and goes “oh! You like Metal! My nephew is in a metal band!” I ask what band he’s in. Fucking Psychostick.
Such a cool band, even with their metalcore tendencies.
Don't forget about JJ hrubovchev
Death metal Christmas is THE Christmas metal album
Sabaton - Christmas Truce
Raskasta Joulua is a yearly metal show with different artists that do christmas songs, in finnish, english and swedish, great stuff.
There was an album I had a while ago called A Brutal Christmas: the Season in Chaos. Some of it was great but I can't remember who was on it.
Panzerballett's X-Mas Death Jazz is about as interesting as I can imagine Christmas music being. Plus, there are vocal and instrumental versions of all of the songs so you can pick and choose!
From Ashes to New - All I Want For Christmas Is You All Time Low - Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass Corey Taylor - X-M@$
Not sure how you and your wife would feel about Sabaton, but "Christmas Truce" might qualify. Just be ready with the tissues.
We just released this thing, it's no cover. We just made it for fun. But we think it turned out pretty good for being recorded in my basement 😅Into Nowhere - Santa Slay
King Diamond - No Presents for Christmas
