First, a radiologist is a doctor that reads X-rays, not a technologist, which is what you are wanting. Most MRI technologists go to Rad tech school with a 2 year degree and then get trained on the job. There are MRI programs out there but not a ton.

Medical ionizing Radiation can be used in a safe way, the reason you need education for it. In the long run you will have more doors and be seen as more educated than the MR only.
You’ll be a better tech with more than one modality, MRI only does not allow you to gain other modalities. More time and money now but more doors later
