After purchase immediately started getting codes and then had a total coolant system failed. Had that code pop up after purchase and his response was unplug the negative cable and it will clear out.
I mean, that kinda describes every make of vehicle…
I can’t think of any brand that consistently does though. I’ve owned enough to know 😂
I guess results may vary. I’ve owned anywhere from 1-4 land rovers at a time for the past 18 years without issue with the exception of the classic range rovers. Those were a nightmare!
Got 1984 110. Never had a problem. Not one. Apart from people trying to steal it.
Same here. The classic and the 03-05 bmw range rovers are the worst. I’m liking the 2011 SC I have now though. So much 5.0 hate but after all the maintenace it’s a great motor
Got the same 11 SC and I’m about to do the timing chains. Other than that it’s treated me great.
My 2012 supercharged has been great for the past 7 years too. The crossover pipes were a little unpleasant to replace, but that has been the only repair beyond basic maintenance.
Water pump can be replaced, but mechanics starts the crankshaft bearings are failing! Engine rebuild or bottom end rebuild is required.
Hopefully the main bearings can be replaced without needing to do a full rebuild.
I love the look of Land Rovers, but sick of the issues. I’ll be selling mine and moving to a more reliable and affordable vehicle! My Land Rover saving funds can go to a Holiday and Camping account 😆
Run her til she is dead. Than put her out pasture. She did her job well.
A lot of times the radiator gets taken out too. How many miles on the water pump?
PO told me the entire coolant system was replaced within the last 600 miles and I put on under 200 miles since buying it
Welcome to LR ownership. This is everyday struggle
I don’t want to defend the guy that sold you this car.. but this kind of catastrophic failure is NOT something you can “patch up” for the sale. This problem sounds like something that was bound to happen. It just happened to be on your watch. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. But it’s an unfortunate part of “nice” car ownership.
If your body and interior are in like new condition, it might be worth the cost of the repairs. If not, just use the money and buy another one.
Welcome to 20 year old Land Rover ownership. They are fine until they aren’t.
