We got a 1.5min teaser, so naturally here is 25min of observations and speculation. lol.
Book SpoilersThanks so much! I try to keep things in perspective and encourage others to do the same. 🙏
Same. You're pretty much the authority on Middle Earth I watch on YouTube. Your video on the Tom Bombadil theories is my top favorite LOTR content on there. Thanks for all the great content!
Nerd is the only one I watch for this type of content. I feel like my normal watches are slowly becoming more negative, I couldn't even finish the Broken Swords video about the trailer.
Nerd of the rings is top tier!
I’ve given up on everyone else too. NOTR is the only one.
Thanks you for watching them! So glad to hear you enjoy them! :)
For sure :) I'm curious what you think about the rumors that we may see the merry fellow Tom Bombadil in this season. Do you think they should leave that character alone, or would a small cameo true to his nature be worthwhile to finally see in a major production?
Great to have you on this channel. I've been a long time watcher of your YouTube videos.
Awesome! Thanks so much!!
100% concur with this statement
100%
Thanks for actually going over the trailer instead of the NPCs in the comments attacking it based on something it isn't lmao
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!
Excellent work as always Matt, so glad to hear your commentary on ROP once again
Thanks! Looking forward to diving into S2!
Nice breakdown. I hadn't noticed that when Annatar does his 'lil hand flip, that the Elves around him turn on each other.
I wouldn't have noticed that either without this video! Plus I totally missed the Eregion lanterns indicating that Eregion is where the attack of the moving roots is happening.
It reminded me of something the Scarlet Witch would do in Multiverse of Madness. That was one curveball of a Marvel movie that made superhero horror a thing. If ROP can add more elements of psychological horror, I'm all for it.
And Sauron is pretty much all about that psychological horror.
I was just as excited for this as the actual teaser.
Haha! Thanks!
And thousands of people arguing over every second!
Nice, I was hoping to hear your thoughts on the trailer!
I’m honestly so pleased to get this commentary so quickly. So speedy!
Incredible as always. Thanks for putting these out!
Thanks so much!!
Looked it up. Interesting thoughts
I just watched your video with my wife
I love it when your videos pop up on my feed! I just watched it and enjoyed your analysis, as always. Thank you so much for all your hard work! That was a pretty quick turnaround considering the trailer was released today.
Fantastic work love the attention to detail
Just wanted to say thank you for all of the videos on your channel. I can’t ever get around to reading the Silmarillion or the other books myself, but with all your in-depth coverage I still get a further enjoyment and understanding of Tolkien’s world.
Thank you!
Nerd of the Rings and Rings and Realms were the best after-show of season one for sure
I dont know if you’ll read this, but before I found your Youtube channel I had only seen the movies (Extended edition of course, once a year). Now I have read all the books, and I just finished The Silmarillion as well! I love your videos!!
Why isn't this trailer on prime?
Love your content, brotha
Well done for getting this done today. This is what I neeed!
Thanks! It was a LONG day. haha.
Love your background song, so calming and fitting for the middle earth environment. What is it called?
There's a couple in there, but I think you might be looking for Adrift by Kyle Presten.
Definitely one of the higher end breakdowns I’ve watched today
As someone who has never read the books, I appreciate the commentary!
Thank you, just wanted to say your videos are brilliant and what got me more interested in the lore.
Thank you for putting in the leg-work, these breakdowns are often better than the series 🙌
Best breakdown, as always . Any thoughts on the possibility for the wormlike mass being a nameless thing ?
Can't wait for your breakdowns :) This is already tradition to watch your videos after every new episode.
You know what...I gotta respect the craft.
Thanks for your thoughtful take. I saw one channel complain about how it had been 3 years since the first season.
It's great to see someone who actually knows and understands the material and show in question, and not just some content dump site looking for clicks.
It's also great that while you acknowledge the fact while season one was clearly flawed, it had some great parts as well.
The Web has become a Zero Sum dystopia in many ways. And it's sad. It ok to like something that is flawed. It's ok to hope it gets better. There is no upside to these guys spreading hate for everything they deem imperfect. I appreciate you being fair and reasoned.
My biggest fear this season is that they recast the best character IMO. I can only hope they did so because he isn't important to season 2 or they found someone as good as Joseph Mawle was.
Thank you so much for this analysis! On my own, I wouldn't have noticed half of the things you mention! So much more fun to watch the teaser again after your video.
rookie numbers. you could've easily done an hour!
keep up the good/hard work NotR!
Between the BIGGERS spanish youtubers of Tolkien and you, i choose you always, i really love your spirit, Tolkien would be proud of you, indeed.
Love your stuff
"he's having a grand old time!" My favourite part 😂😂
I love the trailer and I’m very excited. The only thing that worries me currently is just how CGI-heavy the trailer is. Like there’s explosions and mystical plans and all of these CGI-instead of character-based visual effects. I think they’re showing off their expensive shots for the trailer. But one of the magical things of Tolkien is how it is fantastical and magical but still somehow grounded, so I just hope they don’t lean in the direction of the Hobbit where battles and conflicts become this mystical back and forth instead of real stakes war and battle.
Obviously CGI is used regardless but I’m more overwhelmed by how it’s being used and the obvious CGI moments in the teaser. Season 1 had a pretty good balance of practical and CG so I hope that continues even as the scale grows with the war of Eregion
When you watch the original lotr trailers you're left wondering wtf happened.
Luckily we know this is completely different project, nothing to do witht he movies 20 years ago. Hopefully one day you will gain this type of insight.
Your reviews are about the only ones i watch. I dont always agree with you (esp about the harfoots lol!) But you do a wonderful job and your temperament is even keeled and I think you assume the best of people even when you dont agree with how something is re imagined
Keep up the good work!
