like I built a house, and when I see a patrol I just hide, or I'm just out. what are they gonna do if I'm never home or don't answer the door. what if they just see a bull monching on suspiciously well maintained greenfruit field. What are they gonna do? Hurt the cow? (also my bad for title typo idk how to edit it)
hey so hypothetically if I set up a base in Holy y turf, and just didn't show up for Prayer Day, what would happened?
QUESTIONI Mean If I'm not there for the assaults, are they just gonna be punching air and kicking rocks?
Basically they will leave after a while.
And no NPC faction can actually damage player built structures outside of the door, they'll run into every building and then maybe a day later? Leave.
You say they'll leave... I remember one play through I had just got my base somewhat self sustaining. Sent my combat squad out spelunking half way across the map. When the raid started, my walls fucked up. I managed to get a few people on the roof of a building the raiders weren't touching. Even manged to slip out and "save" a couple more. I figured they'd leave and my people could rebuild.
No. Fuckers decided my base was a great spot to idle. Everyone I managed to save died of starvation long before the crew could make it back to save the day.
Edit: the "best" part was when the farmers got mowed down by their supposed protectors trying to shoot the bandits just running through the walls. It was a god damned blood bath.
When we say leave, literally your whole army needs to leave, that include every person that you have recruited, farmer, Bull, dogs. and then there's a chance they'll leave after a while.
If you have people knocked out most times the raid will end but the people near your characters/recruit will wait you out. So yea higher chance of the raid squad sticking to your base.
And that's why you test your walls before leaving them unattended
Yeah, I’ve abandoned bases thinking they’d leave but no, they just stayed there I definitely until I imported. I had made a new base in the Fog Islands so that if they did come to fuck with me again, they’d have to deal with the Fogmen/Mist Ghouls, etc. Returned later to dismantle the base and sell the resources
Bandits can take over a town, but not Soldiers from a faction.
I built a base once with no gate, just walls. When it was assaulted the attackers ended up tearing down a random section of the wall so they could beat everyone up
When I tried that myself, the squad just sat completely still outside of my base, unable to path into my base.
Some factions will steal food, but they don't seem to touch any other of your loot or gear.
They can destroy walls aswell, in my playthrough i have 8 harpoons shooting down in front of the door, and the raid somehow realized this and after losing half the group they switched targets and broke down a random wall to enter.
Gotta give props to them for creativity to be honest.
They don't really do much. You are 100% within your rights to just leave. They can't do anything about it. Maybe they break some gates/walls, but they're free to repair. Dunno if they steal anything.
Alternatively you can go and farm-grind rep with them until they permanently fuck off.
Also, when you're away, patrols/raids can come to your place but only trigger when your camera gets very close to the aggressors. You can leave a base automated and just.... not look at them for a while.
what if I have no gates, literally just a house and a garden. nothing to break right?
Lol even better.
Watch those stupid religious fuckwits assemble an Inquisitorial Compliance Force just to rock up on an empty shack and declaring they won't leave until nobody comes out to talk.
Just like IRL Jehovas Witnesses.
If you’re outside of earshot, so that the camera never snaps to them and they never deliver any dialogue, maybe nothing.
If you’re outside of the zone, definitely nothing. Friendly or hostile, visitations can’t begin without your camera on them.
If you run away after they’ve begun a speaking, absolutely something (triggers a later attack).
Just leave and wait, they will rush in, scream and leave. Dust bandits on other hand may occupy your settlement. But black dragon ninja are the worst, those bread basket dubbing weebs in tin hats are the biggest reason for lack of food in early base.
Sand Ninjas too. When I get hit, I have to make sure I cage every last one and retrieve my stolen food... (then, recruit them.)
Do they raid HN lands?
I'm not sure. They roam all over The Great Desert. But I usually set up shop in UC territory.
You will get gang banged by a bunch of schizophrenic preachers
Either that, or they'll sit in your livingroom for a couple hours waiting for you to come home, and then fuck off.
so whats stopping you from having literally any greenlander male in your colony to respond to them and let them leave you in peace, from a gameplay perspective, holy nation land is generally considered the best place to live and the least costly to do so, prayer day costs you literally nothing but like a few seconds to skip all the dialog. You could have an entire colony of shek, skeletons, hivers, and women, as long as you meet them at the door with a male greenlander they literally don't care.
"so whats stopping you from having literally any greenlander male in your colony" I DON'T WANT PEACE! I WANT PROBLEMS. ALWAYS! (jokes aside, this is a hypothetical solo hiver + pack animal run, I never get round to having a base cos I'm running around eating gutter guts)
Get some skeleton recruits, thatll guarantee problems with the holy nation
[Confused Deci's Synth noises]
"pack animal" is a funny name for a green lander male friend who can keep the holy nation off your hiver thorax.
Certainly not the worst name for a character born for one singular purpose. Saw a video of a Beep solo challenge run where their wanderer starting character was named "Facilitator", who was then promptly sent off to be eaten by fogmen once he'd fulfilled his purpose
A time will come and they will demand that you surrender your dark beasts. You can talk yourself around it a few Times but you can't do it forever.
Just buy a book, prayer day is easy to deal with. Only greenlanders are present after all.
...right?
Don't forget that prayer day can be used to your advantage. I had a low level base in holy territory that was occupied by black dragon ninjas. My guys were too low level so I got them out and headed for bad teeth. I saw that prayer day was only a day away, killed some time hunting raptors for skins and once the paladins arrived I ran back to the base. I arrived to a whole squad of holy nation dudes ready to bust heads and we retook my base once the ninjas went hostile and attacked.
Prayer day is a thing of 20 sec and ends if you are allied with them 👀
Prayer day guys will just stand there forever untill you come back. Only then the dialogue starts.
If you are outside the area, such that it isn't loaded, then raids (including Prayer Day) will not trigger. If you leave the area after a raid is triggered but before they're in the area of your base, then the next time you get back to your base, they'll be sitting there waiting and your arrival will trigger their dialogue.
They raid you lol.
Also I setup in holy Nation territory before and those raids aren't the problem. The real threat is the endless patrols running around that will see your base and attack.
Its fun but know that it WILL be endless attacks and it will wear down your troops so make sure to have loads of well trained bois.
If you wear their armor and fight them they heal you afterwards for some reason, i dont think you can fail a disguise check while unconscious.
If you ignore prayer day they will get angry at you/your colony and invade you some days after
Raids from big empires just hang around your base for a while if you're not there, (or you are sneaking nearby and don't get caught). Smaller groups can actually try to claim your base ( or maybe it's a mod i have installed and im giving misinformation)
Prayer Day is the most Glorious Day! Why would you skip it?
They'll come back and wreck the place (raid) with paladins and a bunch of holy servants.
Recommend running if you're early game.
