For me it really depends how far he has gone, there is a line where it’s antisemitism and there is a line where he just sympathises more with the Palestinians.

Of course, trying to ethically consume content can be very difficult! One has to choose their battles.

I don't mind if a YouTuber I watch sides with Palestine or Israel.

If they make videos about the war that you feel uncomfortable watching then you should skip them.

I have a streamer that I stopped watching not because his pro Palestinie but because he will shove Israel to anything and it felt like his willing to abandon his beliefs because of it, like saying Iran should lead the middle east.

I loved the Try Guys until I saw Eugene being VERY anti Israel, and Zach also reposting only pro pal content on twitter. It fucking sucks. I stopped watching them since then.

There r the genuine pro Palestinians who r moderate, peaceful and actually wants good and peace for palestinians (and israelis)... minority. Then there r the extremist antisemitic pro palestinians who r violent and only cares so much bout palestine because they get to hate on the Jews and Israel (deep down they don't really gaf bout Palestinians)... majority.

Depends on which one he is. I think u already know which one to cut all engagement from :)

If he is ranting antisemitic crap I would walk away. If it is just a personal opinion I think I would stop contributing to his patreon but continue to pay attention to see if he escalates.

I have a pre-Oct.7th life and one after (I live in NL by the way). Before I would have sent messages, tried to find some middle ground, respected his right to dissent and have another opinion. Post 10/7 my conclusion is he wants me and my loved ones dead, so out the window he goes...

I have literally terminated some 40-50% of my social contacts without any form of explanation this way.

Last example is a long-time friend and ex-colleague of mine who wrote me a short DM on LinkedIn literally ignoring all that has happened and acting as if he has no concept of the horrendous way the last few months have been - and he knows bloody well I'm half Israeli and have a daughter and grandson there:

A "good and peacefull New Year"? FFS, this guys watches the news, is not stupid, lives in France and is a devout catholic (which to me is always a red flag).

Didn't reply back, broke the connection, blocked him so he cannot contact me again. No explanation because I want him to wonder a bit what it is he might have done wrong. More than likely he'll shrug his shoulders and go on with his life - such "friendships" are really not worth maintaining.

I used to watch Golden Gully, but he's been going off being so pro Islamic that he completely takes everything one sided, avoiding the October 7th massacre and positing videos about Palestinian dishes with offensive slogans like "from the river to the sea" which is COMPLETE insult to the victims. He's super biased against Israelis on that part. I was really interested in the dishes he made because they looked so good but the fact that he shoves politics in his videos is a shame.

I have unfollowed so many influencers on instagram because of this reason.

Depends on how extereme he is, but the main thing is you- if you still enjoy their content, watch. If you don't, then.. don't.

Personally, it just ruins it. Can't really focus on the video knowing the person will cheer if I die.

Don't DM him. There's no point in that (you won't change his mind, it's not your responsibility to change his mind, and it's also kinda rude). Either separate the art from the artist, or find another favorite YouTuber.

It sucks but for me I can't really enjoy a creator after that. Had someone I followed that would try to figure out where people were from and then at the end he would tell you the nearest location that he's done before. Well one of the last videos I watched recently the next nearest location was in Israel. Dude refused to mention it by name and said as much. Person he was trying to find was from an Arab city in northern Israel which makes me laugh about it. Couldn't look the same way at the video because I don't he would take issue with other controversial countries

I had a similar situation. The one who made the video about watching Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad is apparently a jew that supports Palestine. He wrote it in a post on YouTube. No words can say how much fury it made in me. especially when he puts it like this: "When the Idea of a homeland does sound nice, nothing can change the fact that the land was occupied." And what makes it even worse is that he wrote that growing up, he was told stories of his family members about the holocaust. It's not about the idea sounding nice. It's about the solution jews need.

Keep watching without donating or liking their videos. And start looking for alternatives in the meantime

If you are pro-Palestine, in the sense that Israel shouldn’t exist, you’re evil. If they’re ok with Hamas, they’re evil. If they’re ok with any other government the Palestinians have elected for the most part, they’re evil

You cannot watch people do attacks like Oct 7 on civillians who have nothing to do with the conflict and go “yeah they’re resisting oppression”.

Honestly being pro Palestinian in itself is not a problem, like you can’t support both Palestinians and Israelis in living peacefully side by side one day. Now if he spreads hateful rhetoric or says lies about Israel, that’s something else and then just stop watching him

They're an entertainer, their job is to make content that you enjoy. If you enjoy their content still, then their politics isn't important to you.

It’s ok to be pro Palestinian. It’s not ok to be so uninformed that you confuse a Palestinian for a Hamas terrorist.

Is he pro-Palestinian or pro-Hamas? Does his pro-Palestinian stance incorporate an anti-Israeli aspect?

Being pro-Palestinian is a bit too vague, even now - some would say I'm pro-Palestinian because I think Israeli Arabs should have equal rights, I know people who are pro-Palestinian as in "have some land and leave us the fuck alone". That's not even on the same spectrum as justifying the October 7 massacre and very far removed from "Israel has no right to exist".

I would identify where this youtuber falls on the normalcy scale and once I see the extent of his pro-Palestinian stand rethink - I might discover a hopeful educated voice, or I might burn that bridge. It depends entirely on your comfort zone

Keep watching his content, just ignore the pro-Palestine thing. Someone disagreeing with you is not the end of the world.

It would depend on what he said. With Arabs I’ve worked with I don’t discuss Israel with them because they have their opinions and I have mine and we aren’t going to change our minds.

You gotta diversify, follow many different ones. And never donate them money, unless they're some kind of political dissidents or voluntarily helping humans, animals or nature. Don't disencourage them from getting a real job.

I think that depends on what level of pro-palestinian and what you want to do.

If you know for a fact he donates to pro-palestinian causes (as in, donates to Hamas, knowingly or unknowingly), probably at least stop donating to him and don't subscribe to his patreon.

I know I personally don't mind following people who support palestine, as long as they didn't say they support Hamas. And I will not support a pro-palestinian who didn't outright say they don't support Hamas and know they're a terrorist organisation. Unless they spread misinformation, in which case I'll probably stop following them completely.

Honestly, do what feels right. You're allowed to follow people you don't agree with, but you're also allowed to stop following people even if the reason isn't 'justified'. It's the internet, you have the right to control your feed.

On Reddit I'm actively looking for political stuff lately, but on Pinterest I block any hint to politics and the conflict because I want it only for looking at crochet stuff and art references.

Same thing as I did when my favorite comedian x6 years ran his mouth about “the Jews”. Stop listening and supporting economically. Sucks but there are tons of alternatives out there.

I have noticed that otherwise good channels who do good analysis go into rant mode over Israel. If you analyze the situation Israel finds itself in carefully then you realize they are in a very difficult predicament and have been for years. But this is hard to follow because it’s complicated. Instead if you rant about Israel then you will attract lots of clicks and it’s nice and simple to follow. This is the problem with TYT and other left leaning channels at the moment.

if the person has a very anti-jewish and anti-Israel sentiment, unsubscribe

if they only call for a de-escalation, I think it might still be somewhat okay for you to watch them, ultimately you are to decide if you feel comfortable doing so

(Note:I am neither jewish nor Israeli, but I have left behind people who justify their hatred of Israel through their sympathy for palestine)

You have different options - choose which one you like:

1. Completely stop watching the channel (which also means completely stop supporting the patreon etc). There may (or may not) be another channel that has similar content.

2. You can keep tuning to the videos if it is positive/helpful to you in different ways, but you can do things to limit the channel benefitting from you. (Ie Adblock, disliking the video, unsubscribing) And you can obviously stop supporting the Patreon

3. You can keep doing what you’re doing - justifying that all these steps won’t have an overall big impact, especially on the YouTuber’s political views.

Ultimately it is up to you to do as you please and what your conscience allows. Out of curiosity, what channel was that?

Watch them, let people believe what they want.

Depends, right? I think someone can be an advocate for the Palestinian people without being anti-Semitic or anti-Israel, but I won’t pretend that that situation is super common. At the end of the day, spend your time and money however you see fit. If you no longer feel comfortable supporting this person, don’t support them anymore.

Life is about choices. I simply won't follow or commit to anyone that doesn't share my world view. I mean as in influencers, not my real world relationships. Unfollow/unsub there's plenty of other influencers out there that share your world views.

That's a hard one, I would say that it depends on what they are posting. If it is full on propaganda and buzz words constantly to get people riled up then move on and don't pay into his brand. Caring about the Palestinians' suffering is not inherently wrong, but supporting Hamas and doing the chants is a step too far for me.

I kind of likened it to the MAGA movement. What is your overall impression now when you meet someone from the MAGA. Some are misguided but will dig in deeper and deeper to the point where everyone around them falls in to the crazy hole.

You may also end up thinking "does this guy hate Jews that much" or getting really paranoid about what he might say and have that taint your experience of watching their content.

Ultimately it's up to you to decide. This decision will likely only effect you so you are the only person who can make it.

Remember that most pro-palestinians from the west are delusional and uneducated on the war, they genuinely want good in this world and this is what they are told (from social media) is the right thing.

Some on the other hand, are just antisemitic in disguise, finally having an opportunity to fuel their hatred.
