Hello everyone. I searched the subreddit but did not find information about my question exactly.
I'll be receiving my certification in the summer. Having studied both Creative Writing and Economics in my undergraduate, I was hoping to get certified in Language Arts or Economics and look for a position with a newer IB school in Asia for either of those subjects to get IB experience and build my resume.
My question is: I hold an IB diploma from my time in the program many years ago. Has anyone had experience leveraging their own IB diploma to get a first-time (or second-time, or third-time, etc.) IB teaching position? Typically I would not list my HS education on my CV as it's irrelevant for most jobs but if having that information on there could get my foot in the door (and not just make me look like a dork), I'd like to hear your thoughts. TIA.
I didn’t put mine on my CV, but I mentioned it in my cover letter as some motivation for wanting to teach in the program and how that would impact my relationship and teaching approach with students. Like another said- the course itself is very different from the one I took. I don’t think anyone cared that I had IB experience, but I knew the vocabulary specific to IB and knew how to talk about it because I understood it from the student perspective and they cared about that.
