The people in the background most definitely have noticed, they’re walking uptown away from the towers. At that point I’m not sure anyone could imagine the towers would collapse.

Absolutely. Watch any footage from that day, there'll always be people walking away from the towers, despite being totally aware of what's happening. OP seems to think that every single person in New York was paralyzed watching the towers burn from beginning to end.
People don’t understand that when the first plane crashed everyone thought it was an accident and so everyone saw it and then carried on with their lives probably.
It was only when the second plane crashed that people realized this was no accident. That’s when everything changed.

Not fake - there's a link in the comments. The kid, Austin, claimed the photo in 2015 and he and his mom later were interviewed about it and they had the rest of the roll of film plus other proof.

This image is probably taken at least 30 minutes after the first plane hit.
- You can see the south tower has already been hit
- Level of soot is comparable with the amount that there was roughly 30-40 minutes after the first plane hit.
- The window washers on 7 WTC are not visible, despite only making it to the roof a couple minutes after the second plane hit.
What's the deal with the window washers?
There were some visible window washers that hang on the back side of 7WTC from when the first plane hit to around 5-10 minutes after the second plane hit, It wouldn't be easy to see them from this distance but there would be a grey sliver visible on the back of 7.

The photo is real, but your explanation is wrong. The people on the path behind the kid are walking uptown. Anyone who has ever worked in downtown Manhattan knows that at this time of the day people are walking downtown ( or south ). Not uptown ( north). Especially a crowd of them.

The only people in NYC who didn’t know within 5 minutes of the attack were people who were underground in the subway, or dead asleep. I met someone who said when he was on the Brooklyn bridge all was well and when he stepped out of the station at the circle on the SW of Central Park, his first thought was “why tf is everyone just standing here staring at Lower Manhattan?” And then he saw it.
