Why do they not go straight to bed after service?
In-ShowThey're probably hungry or need to relax a bit after a long day of cooking. It's like a normal job - when I get home from work I don't go STRAIGHT to bed, I check my phone, eat some food, maybe shower a bit. It's just routine, really.

Agreed. Decades ago I was a bartender working nights, and my mother never understood why I couldn't just go home and go to bed. I asked her if she was ready for bed when she got home from her 9-5 job. She said of course not, she needed to relax and unwind after work. She usually went to bed around 10-11pm. I asked her why I should be any different and explained that we worked the same number of hours, it's just that mine took place at night.
I used to work overnights in a nursing home (am a nurse) from 6p-6a. I could never go straight to bed. Always had to take a shower, eat, and wind down for a bit before going to sleep.
Exactly why I'm awake at 2am
I do the second I get home I go to bed after my night shifts

I’m just drained my body and head hurts so I turn on a heating pad and go to bed esp since I have school too so that means waking up at 7am

There is so much adrenaline pumping through you, it's almost impossible to go straight to sleep. Then factor in the additional pressure of trying to win.

The lights aren't turned off in the dorms until all confessionals are finished for the night. This can last for a couple of hours so lights out doesn't happen until 2am.
You sound like a former contestant?
Not sure if they were a contestant but Cheyenne from season 21 is in this sub and they've answered questions like this and said the same
Overall, it's a show. I guarantee they are not always filming in real time. It's filmed at random times, then spliced together.
Ergo, it may not be as late as they say ... just a thought.

They literally live there for weeks and you don’t understand why they have a cig or a drink before bed. Do you work? You’ve never wanted to have a drink after a long day? Lol
Lots of people need downtime once they get off work.
They need to decompress, otherwise they wouldn't be able to sleep at all.
Have you ever worked a long, hard and stressful shift? Sometimes your body is just not ready to sleep after it. 😂

when I worked second shift and got off at 11, no way was I going to bed before 1:30 but mostly like it would be 3. need time to eat dinner and unwind and enjoy your after work time. but yeah for them they would probably just need to eat dinner smoke and hit they hay but they’re too wound up. ppl in the food industry and service industry often stay up late after the shift from being wired after working through fast paced chaos like that.
You need that decompression time after service. Get off at 11, up til about 1 at least
I worked retail for a long time and I would pull the dreaded “clopen” once a week so I would get home at like 11:30pm and have to be back at 8am and it was impossible to get to sleep until like 1230-1am…. Chemicals in the body are weird
My brother was one of the first employees of a local restaurant that’s now a staple in my places I love to eat at.
He worked evening shift on weekend and one weekday as a delivery driver going in around 3PM and finishing up around midnight. Wouldn’t get home until around 12:15.
He made bank.

They have to wait until they get called down for elimination.
If you’re referring to after elimination then chefs have said before they’re too riled up and pumped after service to go to bed straightaway
