So clever

Incoming packet loss. Top right screen, 17% in red.
Yeah, you can see blue on the minimap teleport at the same time too, not just his enemy.
no the packet loss only started after he was already dead. you can see it in the build info on the bottom. while the teleport happend he had stable connection. this rubberbanding seems to be a problem with the server recv margin. the value was high in the beginning of the clip. which means that commands are getting exectued late after they arrive on the server. after the value dropped the previous unexecuted commands seem to be executed all at once leading to this teleportation. more info about server rcev margin is outlined in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1dpckhi/high_server_recv_margin_with_recent_networking/
Isn’t it normal that you only know of packet loss a few seconds after the packets are lost? Because the packets are lost
Maybe I’m wrong
The client and the server are in constant communication. They knew a packet was delayed a tick after it didn't arrive.
But their lag compensation waits for delayed packets, and what we could see is that wait time ending, which declared the packets lost and probably coincidentally aligned with him getting killed.
A bug that might have happened is that they wait for the delayed packets and only allow new packets to be applied after they are declared lost. But that would be a giant mistake.
I like dis answa
I think this is possible. I don't know how games and in particular, how CS2 does it, but one really simple way I think you could detect packet loss is by sequence numbers. Sequence numbers are like counters that count bytes sent to an end user - in layman's terms, if your computer receives packets with sequence numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and then 8,9,10,11,12, then it'll obviously know from 5 -> 8 that packets 6 and 7 dropped, but it wouldn't know that until it receives packet number 8, which would be after the packets got lost.
Non-RDT (Reliable Data Transfer) protocols like UDP usually don't have a use for sequence numbers since their approach is just send packets into the void and hope they make it, and in an online video this makes sense, because once a moment has passed, there's no point in resending a packet for past events. But it's pretty trivial to implement something like sequence numbers for UDP for other purposes like measuring packet loss - I've done it when I implemented basic TCP over UDP before.
But I'm not a game developer or network engineer so take allat with a grain of salt I guess.
hm maybe youre right. i guess it could have been both packet loss and the server recv margin being high. indicating a problem with the server performance.
I would expect info about packet loss to be delayed because it can't immediatelly know that a packet was lost and because it's probably looking at lag as a cluster and looking at how many packets are lost within some small time period before showing the info. It makes sense that info about a lag spike is shown after it happens so you can look at it afterwards instead of while youre engaging an enemy. It's not really pertinent to have it be shown in real time.
Also I don't know if the outgoing packet-block lag switch exploit still works but if so that could also be whats happening here.

the first value is not his ping. its the server recv margin. but alright buddy.
You're correct, I was working off of the old build info where ping was the first number; was unaware it was changed to recv since the post you linked doesn't let me view the image. Sorry about that!
no worries. thanks for being cool.
That build info is outdated. I operated on that information for a while but missed the update info mentioning it was changed. The second value is ping now.
Ah, alright. Well, packet loss is usually the more important metric for these things anyway, as long as that stayed the same, which seems to be the case.
some sort of connection problem I guess because you can see yellow on the left side of the screen glitch and blue on the minimap by palace does the same thing at that same time
Top right shows packet loss after his death.
Wdym thats just the instant transmission perk
Goku peek.
the forbidden flash
Could also be Dio on the other side hitting him with that ZA WARUDO.
I like playing using manual. Gives me a greater feeling of control over my character.
You are so BAD DUDDEEEEEE TELEPORT-PEEK HAS BEEN OUT FOR AGES! DO YOU NOT KEEP UP WITH THE META? maybe it was a ping issue? Either on you or him, still doesn't excuse this happening tho
OP hasn‘t watched the „you‘re playing mirage wrong“ video and it shows
still doesn't excuse this happening tho
I don't see how the game could work if the connection has issue, packet loss is usually not the server's fault
Cs2 is the ONLY game where i get rubberbanding, but sure its my pc/internet....
Yea couldn’t be the servers, valve only have the highest quality infrastructure
In EU servers I have no issues
Looks like your net is poopy.
nice internet
Nice servers*
Omaewa Mo, Shindeiru.
Can there be a separate sub for posts like this? I don't really care about your lousy internet connection
Why don't we just have a separate sub for all the pro scene drama that nobody who plays the game cares about?
Can't remember seeing daily posts like this in GO
Can't remember seeing daily posts like this in GO
The selective memory here is crazy.
People just jump the "Hate Bandwagon" with their shitty internet and act like it's the game's fault. CS2 sucks compared to CSGO. But not because of OP's bad internet.
technically this very easily could've been from the teleporting dudes bad internet.
Check the radar. You can see his blue teammate also teleporting.
Specially in South America servers have declined awfully, csgo worked like a charm, but cs2 has constant packet loss, i don't really know what they changed but man it worsened the experience a lot
Maybe because people didn't have such a bias towards GO and people weren't acting like a bunch of crybabies whenever something happened on CS:GO?
I do. It was just that most people didn't have net_graph setup so it wasn't immediately obvious to everyone that it was packet loss. The fact that the game now tells you it by default and we still get these videos is mindblowing.
I do not care
Because it didn't happen
Maybe valve can fix their shitty game
My ping is fine I have like 20/30 average this is cs2 servers
You literally have a ping spike to 66 and high packet loss in the clip. What are you on about.
EDIT: the ping spike might not be correct, but you definitely have high packet loss at that moment.

What other games do you play that actually constantly show you when you have packet loss? You're lucky if you get some small ambiguous icon on your screen in most games. So how would you know?
Also most other games have much more aggressive lag compensation to smooth over shitty Internet which isn't necessarily a good thing since the game has to basically lie to you to do that.

Ok so hit me up with all the other clips of this happening to you in cs

I agree with bro. 3klicks just did a great video on the inbuilt steam recorder.
You lose like 3% fps max.
Really 3% fps makes your entire gaming experience unplayable?
Geez im sorry if its true.
Nice lie
So your PC is also terrible? Shadowplay has extremely minimal impact on performance on a modern PC.
Packet loss happens to me constantly in CS2 and it has never been an issue for me in any other game. Its not his internet
Noob, you didn’t harness the true power of the source 2 engine like your opponent. Learning how to spawn/vanish into thin air is like the first thing you learn.
It shows packet loss in the top right after his death.
Houdini????
actual houdini peek (thanks voo)
this rubberbanding seems to be another case of bad server recv margin which can be seen as the first number in the build info (after the V).
the value was high in the beginning of the clip. which means that
commands are getting exectued late after they arrive on the server.
after the value dropped the previous unexecuted commands seem to be
executed all at once leading to this teleportation. more info about
server rcev margin is outlined in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1dpckhi/high\_server\_recv\_margin\_with\_recent\_networking/
He had packet loss. This has nothing to do with the server
Recv margin is the serverside receive margin. This has nothing to do with that.
The game doesn't execute multiple commands at once, it buffers them and executes them one by one, it dynamically changes the local command generation interval to lower it instead of just letting you spam commands. Thats why you can see it decline in a controlled manner instead of just jumping down, unless your connection has a hickup.
This is all on OPs connection, not some implementation quirk.
I’m gonna check that post out, but it’s crazy that this still happens in cs2 it feels buggy af it might just be me tho. But I expected valve to have fixed these issues after like a year.
they won't be able to fix your laggy connection.
Brother you had packet loss, it shows in the top right.
Get a better internet please.
bro playing against dio 💀😭
The houdini peek
This is a classic tarkov moment.
i wouldve shit my pants
Houdini
What you see is what the fuck
Is there any way to fix this stuff? I play on ~30-60 ping and this still happens to me alot, I know packet loss but can I prevent it somehow if my internet is otherwise fine?
just react faster?
bro got the flying raijin peek
Nyx assassin peek
That’s a lag switch
"nothing personal, kid."
What ya see what ya get!
What you see is wtf.
He has better gaming chair
People say it's the internet. Clearly, it's just a bad game.
Xantares peek 2.0 was just released
buy fiber internet
Nah this game is cooked because wtf is happening 1 year after release 💀
You tryna tell me you don't see goofy shit like this in the new cods?
Like its better then cod waw days, we get connection interrupted and have people slide around like your on ice and jumping back and forth for like 5 minutes...
And activision never fixed it? through multiple games?
What will you do when valve releases another update tweaking how lag works? (It was worse on launch btw)
Probably call them lazy ig 🤷♀️
You can only polish a shit to a shine, but it's still shit (ops packet loss is bad internet bruv, come on he playing on a dial up modem what you want valve to do about it? Make it worse for people with good connections? )

What you pay to your provider is what you get
Peekers advantage
Clearly a skill issue
The coping in this thread is fantastic. Everyone acknowledging this game's server issues getting downvoted to hell, while yelling get better internet.
It's not like there haven't been hundreds of posts about people constantly getting massive ping spikes that don't happen in other games. I've got gigabit fiber, and I still get 200ms ping spikes in game.
OP's clip showed packet loss leading to the teleporting enemy and teammate
Do some internet tests, you will have around the same ping spikes. Just because you have fiber, doesn't mean that your connection is good. There are soo many components and soo many people don't understand that. Which is logical, because you can't understand it, if you don't work in that field.
Plus for this specific post, OP had packet loss, showing in the top right corner after his death.
Nope. My internet is perfect. It's only this game that I get packet loss and ping spikes.
No internet connection is perfect. The internet is full of imperfection, lets just think about BGP.
...except mine.
Funny guy
Not as funny as your imperfect internet.
Get better Internet
"Sub-tick improves performance, without the need for better servers"
Game's cooked
but never hold angles like that. You are an easy target. Think of yourself as a credit card that's swiping through the terminal, hide behind corner and peek it like you knew someone is there, then hide again. If you hold angles stationary like this against me I would onetap you
Bro did no one tell you about the new "sandevistan" item you can buy it for 3.4k now
I mean he is Russian so…
It was phoon
It is a new skill that can only be mastered by the e-sports legends /s
He is using the Lag Step Technique, truly a formidable martial art.
cs2'd
This is happening more and more often
With CS2, what you don't see is what you get
Packets 1-5: Cleary lost
