Might be a bit of an odd question but it's something that I've always thought about. Obviously being set on Sera gives more freedom for lore and the overall history of the planet, but the fact that Sera isn't Earth always felt very underutilised to me. (Mostly) Everyone speaks in American accents, Serans are infrequently referred to as humans both in-game and in marketing, Characters have earth-based ethnicities and names (Santiago, Diaz, Fenix) and words that are directly derived from human history (Gears referred to as 'Fascists' and 'Pigs') etc. Maybe I made this up in my head, but did the devs say at some stage that the switch to Sera was made late in development and that's pretty much the reason why everything is pretty much earth?

Please don't misunderstand this as me dunking on Gears! I've always been a huge fan of the series. I'd just like to know how others feel regarding the potential underutilisation of our favourite war-torn homeworld.

Okay so hear me out. An alternative version of horde mode where you are a squad of locust surviving waves of humans (I say humans because it could be stranded at first then gears as it gets harder)

Would be a more tactical version as the gears would use tactics more than just having the numbers like normal horde mode.

Character selection would be progression based. Everyone is a basic Drone at level 1. But as you level up you could start as boomers, munchers, kantus, maybe even a young corpser if you level up enough (yes like beast mode but horde... and you unlock it permanently instead of temporarily unlocking it mid game)

The mid game purchases wouldn't be sentry guns and alike (like it is foe gears horde) it would be more like purchasing ai controlled locusts and sinkholes to spawn them. Stuff like that. To keep the feel of locusts having the numbers and gears having the tactics.

Just something I've always wanted but never shared. Thought it would be cool. Any thoughts?

I got my Xbox recently, before that I never played on controller, I noticed that a lot of good gears of war players use the claw way of holding the controller where they use their index finger for A, but that just feels way too uncomfortable for me.

I experimented a lot and I found that the alt controller scheme works well for me when I switch A and LB, are there any downsides to this? Like for example does it build some bad habits that will cost me down the line while playing GoW?

I'm a completely new player, well new gamer honestly so I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Gears used to be one of my favs played 1-3 but switched to ps shortly after…getting a pc soon just wanna know if the older ones are worth getting again (playerbase wise) and or just get the new ones?
