Im narrowing down a garmin to purchase. I’m primarily using it for running on treadmill and outdoors but I also will use it in my day to day life. I’ve narrowed down my purchase to either the instinct 2 or the forerunn er 265 and wanted to see if anyone had opinions
Thanks! I’m really leaning towards the forerunner just because it has a pacing function that I saw on the website that the instinct doesn’t have
Cool. I think you'll be happy with either, but the forerunner is certainly more geared toward running. I still use it for hikes and stuff and it's held up fine for years now.
I have the FR255, and it feels fantastic and looks great. The FR265 is even better (255 is a better value overall imo), there's very little you'd be missing from the instinct. It's slim, light, comfortable, feels like a modern watch. The pacing features and running stats you get are also expansive and very helpful.
Do you like AMOLED screens? Get the 265 Do you like MIP screens? I2
I wear an Instinct 2 and it's one of my favorite watches I've ever owned. In a world of people wearing AMOLED screens on their wrists, the MIP displays get more and more beautiful to me.
I absolutely hate flashy amoled screens lighting up when you’re just going about your day so for this reason I was going to get a 255s over a 265 but as it doesn’t have training readiness I went for an instinct 2s solar instead and I’m super happy with my decision.
I look at all the data on my phone screen anyway so no need for a big screen. The bezel sticks out far enough to not need a screen protector so I can wear it without babying it. The battery legit lasts almost a month without charging. But best of all is the screen doesn’t light up unless I press the light button, but I can still see the time easily with ambient light.
I’m tempted by the 955 as it seems to do everything I want but despite having a larger wrist I hate dinner plate sized watches, so as there's no 955s I’ve ruled it out for now.
You might like amoled and big watches though so something for you to consider.
I have never had an Instinct but have had multiple forerunner 265, 945 and just ordered a 965. Replacing my current 945 because it died during my last race, I like the training suggestions and other triathlon features.
I love my Instinct, but I have never had a Forerunner.
i go to shop, eveutually i get F255 as got sale on that day
I actually just got that same model and got it set up today. Already love it. Not to rag on the Apple Watch but my garmins data points already seem so much better
I love the monochrome mip. Outdoors I can see the tiniest font without my glasses. Plus “unlimited” battery life encourages me on some level to get outdoors.
If I could get an eink iPhone I’d swap it in an instant for my iPhone 12 Pro Max ++ ultra. I don’t care about videos - I want readability and battery life. Also 4 million pixels focused at my retina like lasers can’t be good for them.
I haven’t put on my Apple Watch since I got the instinct 2XT for Father’s Day. Also you can set the speed to pace on the activities like running.
The instinct is so much lighter than my Apple Watch too. I’m not parting with my Apple Watch (yet) but definitely love the instinct 2 for entering the Apple Watch isn’t.
I’ve had an Apple Watch and I really wasn’t in love with it. I got it for a gift but I wouldn’t buy it again. The battery life was terrible it just felt to much like a smart watch with some fitness features instead of a fitness watch with smart features
I would suggest check out 955 as well
Big Price difference between the two. Go for almond screen and new model.
Instinct wears like a Gshock. Forerunner is your triathlon type watch and slimmer. I have a 255 and previously had an Instinct. They're both fine watches and I usually wear whatever I get a LOT.
