Hey all! My partner and I (GVSU Alum) are currently in need of 1-2 (ideally 2) roommates so we can renew our lease for the next year(Our lease ends at the end of July, so we're looking at move-in around August 1st. Our current roommates are planning on starting to move out in early July, so you’ll likely be able to move in a week or two early! (We do need to know if we're renewing before July 1st though.)
We're located in the John Ball Zoo area in a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house. It's a couple blocks away from the JBZ bus stop, so it's perfect for anyone with a lot of classes downtown. No central AC, but there is a washer and dryer in the basement. The rent next year will be a total of $1833, but we'll be splitting that equally with whatever roommate(s) we're able to get! So we're potentially looking at $458.25 a piece or $611 a piece depending on if we can get 1 or 2 roommates! Water is paid quarterly and averages out to $198 total. Other utilities (internet, gas, electric, trash) have ranged from $254.23 in a month, to $427.23, with an average month totaling $320.06. (It can vary because of trash pick up and electric/gas usage). (And again we'll divide those either 4 or 3 ways!)
The bedrooms upstairs are essentially 1 larger room, a smaller room, and a room that's a bit bigger than the small room. There are also a couple of office rooms, (one of which we’re using for our PCs), and space in the basement that can be used for extra space. Ideally, a couple would take the bigger room, whether that’s us moving from the smaller rooms into it, or a new couple coming in and using it themselves. We can provide the Zillow listing to serious interested parties so they can see the house layout, and can provide additional photos/video as needed. We’re currently asking for additional information on the pet policies for our house from our landlord, so we’ll update this with extra info as soon as we have it!
Our landlord will likely require an application, which will probably come with fees. They probably won’t require a security deposit, but as a courtesy to our old roommates, we would request that you pay the equivalent to the old roommates ($437.50) since they won’t get the deposit back because we’re not moving out (When we all move out, you’ll get the security deposit back like normal - Shiloh did this when she moved in last year).
As far as living style goes we try to take turns buying shared household needs like hand soap and toilet paper, as well as household chores like trash/dishes. But we don't have a chore wheel or anything, we try to be pretty chill about it. We love board games! And have several here that we can play together ranging from casual/party board games to stuff like Root, Talisman, Everdell, and Flamecraft which are some of our favorites!
Our roommates that are leaving are taking a good chunk of the furniture we have now with them, so we would have to figure out stuff together like finding a couch, shelves for the boardgames, a food storage solution for the pantry in the kitchen, some tables/chairs, etc.
So now a bit about us!
Hi I'm Shiloh26)! My pronouns are She/her, but I'm kinda experimenting with them at the moment and might be going by She/he! My interests include: board games, video games (Particularly FFXIV and Honkai Star Rail!), drawing, anime(though I'm admittedly a bit of a casual watcher), and baking! I'm a bit of an introvert, but I'm defo down to hang out with new roomies and do things around town/in house together! I have two lovely partners, Juniper(who'll introduce herself below) and Sophie who currently lives in Portugal but may come to visit/potentially move in towards the end of the lease.
Hello!! I'm Juniper (26) (She/her pronouns)! I’m a social media coordinator at a company specializing in reptiles and reptile accessories, so I can tell you all about geckos! Like Shiloh, I’m big into gaming, anime, and lots of other nerdy stuff. FFXIV is big for me as well lol. I’ve bounced around hobbies a lot, so things I’ve done and may return to include painting miniatures, photography, Magic the Gathering, and much more! Chances are, if you show me something neat, I’ll be interested in trying it myself!
