A few months ago, I was telling a millennial coworker about this type of old pop bottle, and when I told him the labels were like a really thin Styrofoam, he looked at me like I was from another galaxy. I'm pretty sure he thought I was pulling his leg...
Once you were close to the bottom , you could slide the label out from the bottom a little, flip the bottle over and pop it by smacking it with the palm of your hand.
Anybody ever use about a quarter cup of that Red Devil drain cleaner and balled up aluminum foil? Add water and screw on the cap and the chemical reaction would cause the aluminum to start boiling, which then created such a loud explosion, with glass flying everywhere? Well, I was one of those kids. Louder than a shotgun.
I was younger but if you went to the north side of the lake tied the fishing string around it and floated it you could get pretty far and it was easier to pull a fish back in but we pull off the foam wrapper before we loop it around the the bottle
Yup! Styrofoam peels were just what we did. How could you not? It was so peelable.
Itβs funny how old fashioned those bottles look to me now, but one of my funniest memories of my one friend is when she left a bottle of Mt. Dew in the car (it was freezing cold outside) and it actually exploded, leaving a Mt Dew slushee inside what was left of the glass. Damn I guess that was a long time ago.
I wish they'd bring back glass bottles. Plastic bottles really F'ed everything up, so much waste. At least glass is biodegradable and easier to recycle.
I miss those glass bottles withe styrofoamisch labels.
