I’ve had dogs before but I’ve never had dogs that smelled like “dog” I just adopted him about 2 weeks ago and took him to the groomers about a week ago. All his rugs and beds are brand new but why does he smell like dog?lol. He’s also my first frenchie. Is this normal ? I also have an air purifier running 24/7 in my room and I don’t want to use scent diffuser since it’s not really safe for doggos but the smell is starting to get to me. Plz help😩
Haha! Nice try
Nizorale shampoo for dogs
I had no idea they made some for dogs, I use the human ones and we had bought some ketoconazole shampoo for our guy from the vet. I'll have to look for that.
As you can see, he takes it off…. Lol 😂
Awww so cute!! I love the way they sleep 🥹
I sniff my Frenchie every morning and it's glorious. Once the Frenchie parasite has wormed its way into your brain, you will feel the same.
They smell so good. You will embrace it in time.
😩
Don't they! It's not just me then! I love the smell of mine even his stinky feet lol 😆
My wife will purposely stick her nose on our girl and ihale her musk
I do too 😂 he smells so good. It's a bit like some people with newborn babies...they love the smell. He's so soft aswell so it's comforting.
Ok so I have had this problem but not with my potato. It was his anal glands. Seriously, 20 minutes after a bath he would SMELL! I had his glands expressed and boda bing boda boom no more smell. I tried EVERYTHING too. Special foods, water you name it. Try having the glands expressed. Who knows
I had his anal glands expressed! But it’s not poopy smell lol 😆 just smells like dog… kinda like a homeless dog. Except he isn’t
My monster didn’t smell like poop either, Just freaking smelled.
What helped us was cleaning her paws after coming inside with a puppy wipe and using a puppy deodorizing spray.
I’m going to try that too
He doesn’t look like her smells 😫😩😭💝
He really doesn’t! He’s soooooo cute. Just a little stinky
Frenchies have many folds in there face. Bacteria and other nasties form within the folds. When left unchecked, the problem grows and can become odiferous. Think athletes foot / yeast infection between folds. Our guy gets “crusty” in the folds and skin can become raw and irritated. Scratching face happens exacerbating the problem. Daily cleaning of the folds using a wet baby white helps remove the crust, heal the skin irritations and reduce the odor. If things are real bad, as vet for something specific to clean face folds.
The folds! We’re slowly getting him used to the wiping. He doesn’t really let us… he’s a bit chunky at the moment so, he can’t reach to scratch his face 😆
I wipe mine down daily with dog wipes. We have a large patio around the pool and lil homie gets the zoomies out by hot lapping around the pool a few times a day. Leads to doggo smelling like, well, a dog and he inevitably picks up a lil dust and dirt too. I get these on Amazon and they don’t seem to bother his skin at all, and they are unscented. Earthbath Hypoallergenic Dog Wipes
Thank you! I’ll check it out
🥳 😍🥳 😍
I love the stink ☹️ if I could bottle up my little one’s fragrance and carry it with me I would lol.
Following as having same issue. My frenchie stinks. Do not know how to get rid of the smell.
Right ?? They’re adorable but so stinky lol
My husband started really complaining to the point I decided to go visit family for a while but I do get his point. Ugh. I love my Skadee Poo but she stinks.
I’ll keep you updated on what worked 🥰
Please do bcuz I have tried wipes, dry shampoo, odor control spray. She still stinks.
Feed raw.
I’m thinking about it but he’s currently on farmers dog
Our frenchie smells amazing after a bath, neutral after two weeks, then he needs a bath 1x month because his head smells like peepee from shoving his face in peepee plants.
We attribute his lack of body odor to his raw diet. When I had dogs growing up who were kibble fed, they smelled like dog food, it secreted through their skin and clung to fur.
Yes! That’s what my dog is smelling like! Dog food… lol
Mine has a distinctly doggy smell. I appreciate that it’s natural oils and it waterproofs their coats, but he’s not living in the wild, so he gets regular baths and I regularly wash everything he sleeps on. Sometimes I still walk in the door and get a whiff of dog. It’s not pleasant!
Highly recommend Scouts Honor dog shampoo. Works great, doesn't upset their skin and they stay clean smelling much longer!
I’ll try that
I just lost my stinky boy of 12.5 years, and I think I know exactly what stink you mean. He would get oily and a kind of musty smell within a few days of his baths. He also had skin issues/hot spots/ear issues, so got chlorohexidrine baths (2 times a week in the worst of allergy season) and that not only helped his skin but was the best option shampoo wise I ever tried! He smelled better longer. But unfortunately they can just be musky lil guys, frequent baths and washing bedding is your best bet in my experience! Enjoy your stinky dude as much as you can 💕
Aww I’m so sorry !🥺 thank you, I’m going to try it out.
I hope it helps!
Just use wet wipes. Always…
I hope you find something that works, cause I’d love to know what it is too! I have two rescues I adopted last July and they are stinky too. The doggy odor you are describing. I’ve had 3 English Bulldogs previous to these guys, so boy do I know stinky…ha. But these two are different somehow. I cover their beds with crib mattress pads and then a crib fitted sheet so that keeping them clean is simpler, so bedding is not the issue. They just stink!😂 Very cute, but wowzers…🥴
Exactly how I feel lol 😆
Try olivers choice dog shampoo smells amazing and keeps their coat fresh , i got a 3yr old boy and a 6 month old girl who love to be outside and lord do they stink when they come inside except that the smell doesn’t stay for long as it would if i were to have used a different shampoo (i shower them once a week every monday to be exact)
Ooo okay, I’m going to try this!
I use a dog cologne :) lasts for fresh smell between washes, mine is baby powder scented
Awww she looks like a human baby🥹
I had a similar issue with my 12 week old puppy until I switched his food to Bullymax. Gamechanger! This kibble has a neutral smell which isn’t my experience with other food brands especially wet food. I’ve noticed if the food has a unpleasant smell my pup will begin to pick up the same aroma. His coat is now super soft and he smells like a cute puppy should !
That’s what I’m thinking too! It’s the food…
Quality food, dont let him get wer, clean face twice a day and bath him every 1-2 weeks. Comb after bathing
Yes, what’s the dogs diet? Seems strange.
I switched him to farmers dog. His previous owner had him on blue buffalo
You definitely made the right call. Farmers is as close to raw as you will get. I just use deodorizing wipes for sensitive skin (natures miracle deodorizing wipes) and Hepper cologne spray (again good for sensitive skin) between baths (roughly every couple few weeks). The combo is 20 or so bucks on Amazon.
I have a boxer too and they both get wiped and sprayed. Smells great and usually holds for a day or 3 before doing it again.
I haven’t tried wiping him. I’ll definitely try that. Didn’t know they made cologne for doggos??🤣
lol oh yes.. they make designer knockoffs to that are funny. Tommy holedigger or k91 (instead of ck-1) lol
Maybe the bedding is transferring his oder right back to him after he gets a bath.
Yea, that’s what google said too but everything is new
There is a product that works really well. It's non-toxic and will even help a great deal getting rid of skunk spray odor. To abide by rule 2, go to your search engine, type in pet odor eliminator the item I am speaking of name starts with the letter "P" and ends with the letter "H". Also deionized water will do the trick as well, if you can find it.
Is it the spray Pooph? I didn’t even know that theres such a thing as deionized water lol I’ll look that up too
So as not to violate #2, I would say that you are probably correct. I will say that if you use deionized water DO NOT mix it with soap, its not dangerous to do so, but you will defeat the purpose of the special water. The way deionized water works as it is negatively charged, and like distilled water , has no elements in it other than oxygen and hydrogen, but unlike distilled water it attracts and bonds to anything other than H2O. So it you mix it with soap, you will cause it to bond with the soap and lose it's effectiveness. Use deionized water as a rinse once you have done several soap removing rinses. I use it in a spray bottle in my shower and spray the glass doors with it as I'm stepping out. It bonds with the fat in the soap I use and the glass stays clear.
Interesting! I’ll look into it. Thank you 😊
Give dog to me, viola! No more dog smell.
