I was working outside today for a few hours & it’s about 95 F. I notice my readings are in the 150s, and normally they are 100-115. It wasn’t physically challenging work, so it wasn’t an exercise spike. I checked with a finger prick and it’s 107. Does anyone know if just normal summer heat affects readings? I know hot showers will raise my readings for a bit after.
Makes sense as heat stress releases hormones like cortisol which increases BG.
If you go out in the sun with the sensor you will get a message that sensor is too hot ""
If you receive the Sensor Too Hot or Too Cold message, this means that your Sensor is too hot or cold to provide a glucose reading. You should move to a location where the temperature is appropriate and check again in a few minutes.
I’ve never seen that. This will be my 1st Florida summer with a CGM, so I bet I will!
I haven’t had the warning of it being hot or cold yet. But had a 202 reading working out in the garden for 4 hours. Drives me nuts! Hot showers also.
Heat makes my readings run high. Showers, intensive workouts or being out in the high heat will make my sensor read wrong until it cools back down.
I just wanted to pop in and say that I live in Florida (Bradenton - Sarasota) & I have never had an error from the heat. It's been hotter than normal so far this year, mid to high 90's with "feel like" temps in the sub 100's. I am only posting this info for those who are curious or are planning to visit Florida.
Hot showers affect them, so heat In general would prolly 🤔
