I am in desperate need of help for my dog.

If you live in the city of Fort Worth the only completely open intake option is going to be Fort Worth Animal Care and Control. Although I think if the dog could talk he would say he would put up with 95 degrees if it meant he didn’t get put through the stress of a rehoming situation.

May i ask why no A/C? I live in Ft Worth and can provide you a free wall unit if that would fix the situation for yall.

Have you tried a local Jack Russell rescue group? There seems to be at least one local to DFW called Russell Rescue Inc.! Best of luck to you.

if somebody can surrender him for you, the humane society of north texas accepts animals only under appointment and you have to pay a fee. this ensures the dog is well cared for and given to a good home. i foster for HSNT and they’re great people.

Is this temporary? I MIGHT be able to help but that’s a strong might, I have a dog and care for a dementia patient-so if this is a temporary issue with up to date vet care and vet expenses covered I’ll see what I can do, I’d hate to see the dog go through too much if you only need a temporary solution

Raise $ for AC unit. No one should have to live like that, it’s inhumane. You ignored the comment someone posted about giving you a free AC wall unit

Might want to contact Russellrescue.com and see if they can help. They have a rescue group in Texas that may be able to help.

Check with good neighbors animal rescue. They are a great organization that will work to foster and rehome your pup.

Create a cool place for him. Wrap a Bottle or even gallon of frozen water in a towel or thin fabric. Do this with thick furred dogs and even Guinea pigs in the past. Have a few frozen so you can rotate them once one thaws

Do you have any means of perhaps getting a fan for your room? I don’t mean to scare you, but Fort Worth animal control puts down a lot of dogs. At one point recently, dogs only had a few weeks to get adopted or fostered before they got put down, because the shelters were so desperate for space. They also have outbreaks of illnesses often, that results in dogs being put down. It‘s going to be very difficult for an older dog to get adopted. unfortunately if you bring your dog to animal control… there’a a good chance he’s not going to make it out of there.

Please do whatever you can to avoid subjecting your baby to that fate. You said he likes to chill mostly. For probably $50, or maybe less if you find sales, you can get a very cheap fan. Make a little bed for him right in front of the fan and give him plenty of water. That will keep him comfortable until the temps go down.

I had an incident where my apartment was over 86 degrees for 3 days. I have a dog I was very worried about, and did some reading into this. From what I read, it’s virtually impossible for a dog to have a heat stroke when they’re wet. If you give your dog damp towels to lay on and spray water in the fan, you can keep him safe.

You sound young, I’m guessing you’re a minor? If you don’t have the means to purchase a cheap fan, please reach out to any other adults or friends with nice parents who might be able to help. We’re in Texas- there’s a very good chance someone you know has an extra fan lying around they’d let you use if they know what’s going on, or may even be willing to purchase you one to help. If you can’t find anyone to help, DM me. My mom is very active with rescue groups around me and donates money to them often. She might know someone willing to help.

If keeping your dog at home is absolutely not an option, contact every jack russell terrier rescue group within a few hours drive of here. If you tell them the situation, they will do everything in their power to scramble a foster for your baby. Rescue groups for specific breeds will take much better care of their dogs. Try general rescue groups after that, if none of the jack russell ones can help. Bringing him to a shelter here should be a last case resort.

If your dog has shade, airflow, and water, then 95 degrees isn't any more of an issue for him than it is for an average human. Not super comfy in the middle of the day but not at all life-threatening.

Try mini mutts animal rescue.

Owner surrenders generally go directly to euthanization in our overcrowded shelters. Seek a rescue organization (Google is your friend).

I've seen my dog died from a heatstroke last year and I was traumatized for days. Found him on the side of my house breathing heavily no response just brain dead. Me and my sister had a rush him to the veterinarian. His organs had failed and was still breathing, he was dying, there was nothing more we could do but let him go.

I had to burn and cremated him... was sad to watch. 😭
