Morning all. I've asked about using snap swivels to make it easier to swap out lures while wading the creek. It seems like the majority of you don't use them; enough of you that I've decided against using them. Do any of you use ta power clips? Had anyone had any luck with them? Do they negatively affect the presentation of spinnerbaits or any other lures? I imagine they might be better for top water lures? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
I always use snap swivels for freshwater. They prevent line twist and I’ve never had a problem catching fish or lost one because a snap failed. I use TA clips or surfcasting, but there I only use a 3-4’ leader with a swivel on the other end. I haven’t seen TA clips small enough for freshwater, but I’ve heard they’re out there. I imagine they’d impact the presentation about the same as a snap swivel.
Did it make the presentation wonky? People seem to think that fish notice the snap swivel, and that the lure is moving differently. I guess I should just keep practicing tying knots. Thank you for the advice!
Maybe, it doesn’t seem to matter. If a set of treble hooks isn’t going to bother the fish, I don’t see a small snap swivel throwing them off.
I have some 25lb power clips that seem pretty small. Too big? For bass, panfish, etc?
They’re probably great. I’ve just never run into them in person. I may order some and mess with them.
