I ordered 2 lots of firefly petunias and they arrived in horrible shape, and after a few days one started to look better but now looks almost dead like the other one. I am based in Southwest Florida, so I don't think keeping them outside is a good idea because it's 98 during full sun and I work nights. The leaves are dry and papery and I'm getting genuinely worried they are going to die. If you have any tips, please help!
This is about the same as they arrived, I've already contacted the company for a replacement
Hopeless. It's dead
That’s compost now :(
Rip send message to support!
Yea my plant came the same way, it ended up dying a day later but I emailed support and they sent a replacement. I’m also in Florida and found that indirect light is perfect. I water every other day from a 1gallon jug mixed with a tablespoon of jacks petunia feED. I just took cuttings from them to propagate more.
That's exactly how mine looks now. :( came rough but I thought there was a chance and now it looks like this. I'm still hoping but... It looks like it's on its last legs....
i got to email them 2 of my 3 look like this, the third one is coming back and has a flower.
I also emailed them and am waiting for a response! Hope we get a good resolution!
Soil has been kept as moist as possible, some liquid fertilizer has been used, and I keep them next to the window.
You may be drowning the plant with excessive water.
As moist as possible is a problem. Especially since there isn’t much to suck it up. I’m also in SWFL and there’s no such thing as too much sun for these plants, but you can definitely overwater them.
Hey I'm in swfl and thinking about these, can they grow outside here? I've had so many plants that want full sun, but cannot handle full fl sun
There’s a chance you over fertilized. If that’s the case the roots might be okay and you could get some new growth. The current growth looks burnt which I’ve seen from too much nitrogen from fertilizer.
Unless it came like that.
I’d keep it watered, there’s a chance!
Damn dude get a replacement ASAP!
Also cutting foliage back can help reduce strain on roots, but that looks not promising. 😅
If the stems are not dry and crispy, there's a chance of recovery. Try taking a cutting of a healthy stem (ideally with at least one healthy leaf on it if you have one) and propagate it. I tried a few methods and found soil to be the most successful: Propagation : r/FireflyPetunia (reddit.com) .
Looks like your plant is toast man
