What demographic/areas tend to support Fener instead of GS/BJK ?

The stereotype as far as I'm aware is that most kurds are more likely to be GS supporters.

From my point of view:

Fenerbahçe: 50+ yr old fans: Mostly old school glory hunters or simply people who chose Fener over Beşiktaş, could be from any section of society.

Fans aged between 20-50: The group that got to see ups and downs and are used to see Fener as the flashiest team. Again could be from any section of society but mostly the children of families that had good education.

Fans younger than 20: Majority redeemed Fener from their fathers because they have only witnessed the banter/torture era of the club. I don't think Fener being labelled as the scapegoat after 2011 helped either.

Galatasaray: 50+ yr old fans: Regular football fans are almost non existent at this group as Galatasaray was easily the 3rd biggest club before the 80s. The rest are associates of certain organizations that i won't name here.

Between 20-50: The generation that got to witness Galatasaray's forced rise to the top. Most of them are glory hunters or people that fell for the "Galatasaray is a european giant." psyop. They could be from any section of society but I think it's safe to say almost every Kurdish person from that age group is a Galatasaray supporter.

20<: Galatasaray won the league 6 times after 2011 so yeah they are the establishment's top dog now most of the kids support them.

Beşiktaş: 50+ yr old fans: Like i said for most people it was either Fener or Beşiktaş back then.

Between 20-50: Most of them inherited Beşiktaş from their fathers or became fans during Beşiktaş's successful spell in the 90s.

20<: Again it's almost always a father-son thing for most Beşiktaş fans I know. They had a good run in mid 2010s and maybe gained some fans in that era but at the end of the day it's just Beşiktaş man.

There isn't really a clear demographic difference between big 3's supporters.

Stereotypically more middle to upper class Turks support FB. Usually more centrist or left wing leaning people politcally. Some may call them "White Turks".

Usually more right leaning turkish people or kurdish people support gs. I've lived in eastern anatolian region for a few years now and I can easily say gs supporters are the majority here.

It's harder to stereotype the bjk supporters because they are the minorty in the big 3 but more middle to lower class or left leaning turks support bjk.

GS will have more because they won more during late 90s and early 2000s. Glory hunting is a thing. It happens in all countries.

Fener was the most popular and supported club in Turkey for a variety of reasons. That is when the football industry was not nearly anything where it is today. Up until the mid 90s. Mid 2000, Fener seemed to be taking off destined to be opening a gap financially as well as in its stadium and facilities despite gs also emerged 90s, 2000s winning titles and fans... football industry and media took off ( soap media largely) influencing most of turkish society during those decades tremendously

This has created the most utterly brain dead football fan generation. Still to this day, the anti FB football fans grew larger, GS fan numbers surpassed FBs.. without going into details, imagine a club in FB who has not won a title for 10 years now, check gs fan social media pages, their PR champaign says the sytem is designed for FB after the latest Tranzon - Fener detby match, i meant war match.

Their PR champaign says FB will be made champions by TFf, gov and all the conspiracies you can imagine past 35 years same shittery, yet GS won majority of these titles, then BJK won yhe most amd among big 3, Fener ended up winning a lot less despite always being in the title hunt..and favorites to win many of these titles gone to GS..

If i have to summarize the fan demographics..

GS - the brain dead, deep fried in grease fanbase at every walks of life, but mostly younger generation

FB - every walks of life ...

BJK - every walks of life

Oh btw. Origins of GS were the istanbul privileged elite supporters while FB were the working class. Bjk, too, goes by working class supporters with more passion i tend to think

It's homogeneous. There is no clear distinction. Culturally and historically Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş are bigger clubs with a solid culture. Galatasaray more of a populist club started gaining popularity and questionable success especially after late 90's when corruption skyrocketed. So Galatasaray pulls more general audience then other clubs. They have bunch of loud Joe's.

Fenerbahçe historically biggest club in Turkey and the league generally played against Fenerbahçe. Whoever wins the league, it's against Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe has the most rivalries. Everyone competes with Fener. Other teams don't really compete with each other. Whoever beats Fener makes headlines.

Fenerbahçe also represents the republic, secularism and Ataturk so in Turkey's current conjuncture odds are stacked against Fenerbahçe. The country is under arab influence and the Erdogan is... well he is Erdogan. His son in law is a rabid Fenerbahce hater. Their media empire makes anti Fener news non stop. This is also why Trabzonspor is so rabid today.

Galatasaray is very opportunist and focused on success. They can proudly suck your dick if it means it will benefit them. Fenerbahçe has principles and values.

Fanbase is mixed. In general, Fenerbahçe pulls more secular, artistic, educated, rich types. Galatasaray pull more average Joe's and average in Turkey is not good. Beşiktaş has a bit less mass appeal but this makes them more of a unit and based.

The stereotype is, if we go by American terms, GS has the minorities, BJK has "trash whites", and Fener has the whites.

Of course socially or economically any group can be seen supporting any group but I would also go by that steorotype if my life was dependent on the result haha. I'm not saying it's completely true but I would rather bet on it rather than against it.

i know a family which is ethnically a mixture of kurdish and armenian . 95 percent of them are supporting jk. although the general consensus is that kurds support gs and karadenizliler supports gs if not ts. my personal stereotype developed through years also suggests that akp = gs while bjk= tinerci and fb= iyi aile çoçuğu ,aile babası

The stereotypes used to be, before 90s:

Average joe: Fenerbahce Richer, more educated: Galatasaray Lower class: Besiktas.

Galatasaray comes from the highschool, which was public, free, but it is historically the highest level of education quality, so pretty much every graduate become rich.

Fenerbahce was average joes team, also highly popular due to Hababam Sinifi series being Fenerbahce fan.

Besiktas was knows as "trucker's team".

After 90s however, Galatasaray become more average joes team due to international success.

The Big 3 have absolutely no social, ethnic, religious, sociological,education or economic groupings. The Galatasaray stereotype of Kurds is partially true, but I think the biggest reason for this is this. The number of fans in Turkey increases in proportion to success. The Kurdish population is very young. There is a serious period of Gs success both in the early 2000s and after 2011. The children of this period became Galatasaray fans. Most of the Kurds were children during these periods. The same was true after 1987.

I think if we look at the average age and median age range of the cities and compare the successful periods of clubs, we can get a more successful criterion, even the fan ratio of the age range. Between 2015 and 2018, many children became Beşiktaş players.

Honestly, there is no real distinction between the big threes fans. Your neighbour could be a GS supporter, your relatives could be BJK supporter, there is no telling. Unlike in other countries where teams’ fans are more or less divided by cities/class/political views, the big three supporters may come from all over the demographic because its not really tied to any of these factors.

I remember in 2nd year of my Uni, I got in a group with 2 guys to make a presentation about the relationship of politics and football in Turkey. The guys were all from the same city as me, they were all middle-class like me and nearly had the same conditions in life as me. I am a GS fan and one of them was a FB fan while the other one was a BJK fan.
