Sorry if this seems dumb but maybe I kept this around for too long , I kept one of these files that said I used it today so I'm guessing these files are from previous updates and I don't need em anymore?
Do I delete these? They are old files apparently but take up hella space.
HelpAbsolutely! You're just downloading the new installer over and over.
Alright thank you so much for the direct answer

Data hoarding is in some ways worse than physical, just buy more drives and carry on, easy!
This is why I have 7 drives - and my box of spare cables would take up most of a 55 gallon barrel
Hoarding cables is not a real problem. I might need it some day. Or so I tell myself.

I still don't understand to this day why FL studio hasn't included a built-in updater that automatically patches you up to the current version then removes the installer once patched. Such a simple quality of life improvement that they could easily implement surely.
You make a really good point, we have an entire sound marketplace now but now automated installer?
I don't especially care about that but if that's what it would take to make it so I don't have to sign in every time I update (so dumb), then fine, give me another self-updating app, lol.
Free updates for life is their business model. It's not a SaaS product, but you still get to use the latest version. I'm OK with it not Auto-updating but a built in updater tool seems like a no brainer for their business model.
I think they did in 21.1? Or am I misunderstanding this?
"Automated updates - Option to automatically download FL Studio updates and apply them at the next restart."

Hmmm that's what it sounds like, I'm finna go open up fl and find out
that's what I'm saying , I was assuming this was being taken care of and those files were necessary that's why it got so hectic
While they’re at it, they should feel welcome to implement a keybind changing feature. Don’t see how that could cause them too much trouble to do? I have a lot of buttons on my mouse that are useless but would love to bind to my most used functions
They are moving towards that goal. But it takes a lot of time to re-code the old elements of the DAW. Probably won't happen for several more years, if even possible.
But you can see that for some of the more recently added features, they do automatically install and update in-DAW, with undoubtedly more to come.
Were you drunk or high when downloading all those installers?
Why not both?
Bro you do not need that 😭😭😭😭
LETS GOOOO
Mitch please...
LMAO
I wondered about this also, but it's just FL Studio downloading the updater for you everytime you run it. You can disable that setting. I did disable it myself and it worked.
Here's how:
Options - General - under "updates" uncheck "automatically download program updates"
THANKS SO MUCH! bros the fl guru I always dreamed of
Haha thank you, nice to hear!
Not so brain dead after all : )
THANK YOU 😭😭😭😭
Delete them Mitch. Or else.
I have to listen to the lawful one for sure!
Short: yeah, shift-del them to bit heaven, do not pass go, do not collect in recycle bin.
Long: if you downloaded it, you can get it again. If you made it, back it up bc I tell ya I’ve been doing IT a couple decades and people cry and bang desks bc computer parts eventually go smokey boom and users go shift-del-oops and stinky thieves go “ooh filthy hobitses have exsspensssive electronisses in their backspacksies, let’s borrrow thems for sometimes, yessss we needs them more”… and you can buy new computer but you can’t buy back you flip-flp’s. Back. Them. Up. Far away from originals, in cloud or offsite somewhere (not usb stick in same backpack for smegol to borrow along with originals!)
I read this reply with internal dialog and it's just made my day! 🤣 big thanks!
Glad you enjoyed my midnight poetry
Select them, click shift + delete, click yes.
Donezooooo
Holy cow, delete all those. We are running times where people could easily kill for just 500mb more of space 😑😑
Yup after these took up about 14 gb of space I was able to sort out another 100+ gb of space I didn't need from other softwares ; ) I gotta clean up more
Always have a external drive for downloads.... its the best investment ive ever had
Sweet
just handle them as any installer. those are installers, not the software you run
WHY THE HELL YOU HAVE SO MANY INSTALLERS OF FL!!!???? JUST STAY WITH THE MOST RECENT!!!
Haha I SEE NOW! thanks
yeah mine does that too, I’ll delete 4 and then more then eventually after awhile some more will redownload
Fun lil side quest lol
figure it out a little bit mitch:14404:
Pain , shot right through the heart
Tbh i avoid downloading updates because of this
Oh?
DELETE EVERYTHING , I mean not everything but delete those filesss lol
You scared me! Almost deleted everything from my pc to save space!
lmaooo
Once these install FLStudio, they're worthless. Delete!
Never knew this! Thanks.
There Just update files and some are duplicates. Definitely delete
Yeah away with them!
Good to know they're gone now!
I want one mitch
Why do you keep your old fl upgrade files lol
No, you save them all. You should also back them up to an external hard drive
Bruh moment , don't ruin the streak of things 😭 already deleted!
No?
You've had your direct answer so now I'm going to ask if you keep everything else in your downloads folder as well or did you think the FL installers were some magic different file that needed to be kept?
I assumed the fl installers were a passed down legacy from the ancient one named Merlin . I'm sorry to disappoint.
I am fucking disappointed, not because you're wrong, but because you're right and revealed this secret to the world
Listen man I wasn't so sure myself....but you brought it out of me! For almost 3 years I thought I was crazy , everytime I opened fl studio I seen nothing but mystical lands and vast oceans that could somehow talk to me telepathically.... They would even tell me what to name my songs , what melody should be played down to the layers in the mix! I should probably Uninstall this cursed app software after all! Aghhh
Yoo what is the oldest version you have bro 😭
Deleted files and ended up with a vst error afterwards. Still haven’t figured out how to make that specific vst to function again
