💀 felt that
What's the best use for ott? Like I'm a newbie so i don't know what would sound better with ott applied. Would love some advice. Thanks
Put it on the master. But there’s no “best” use, just however you use it and whether you like it or not. At low settings it can be good at subtly sharpening/tightening sounds from my experience but there are probably many other ways to use it
Yo this sub reddit is gold sometimes
I was told never to put it on the master track, yet it seems to do a lot of good in general.
Otherwise it helps putting an highlight on a specific track, like the main singer or instrument.
Who told you that? Do whatever you want as long as you like it and think it sounds good. Don’t let what other people tell you to do limit you; always keep on exploring. If you want an example of ott being used in that way on a top hit, I believe Ian Kirkpatrick used it on the master in Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”.
Pretty much what I did already. I make music as hobby because it is fun.
I didn't have it for a long time and already love it.
My last project turned out awesome, I can't wait to show it to the world. (Or the few 5-6 people who listen to me)
I think I remember by deadmau5 or a song off that same album had OTT at 33% depth on the master channel. No. Rules.
I slowly realising that even music theory is a suggestion (thought naturally it helps a lot) and that as long as it sounds good, you can do basically anything.
Music is great!
I put it on melody bus or sum
Tired of getting horrible mastering?
Try using ott and use the downward knob to fix it!
On your lead bus:
OTT
Sausage Fattener
Another OTT
Etc.
its a great sound design tool as well in many cases rather than "just" a compressor. Put it on bass sounds and it brings out SO many characters, qualities, and clarity that may have been completely invisible before.
What's ott
It's a free aggressive multiband upwards/downwards compressor. It is based on a preset called OTT of Ableton Live's multiband dynamics.
Alright I thought this was just a circlejerk but OTT is kinda sick
yeah its definitely not a every mixer channel thing but its definitely a must have imo
It is lol
It's Soundgoodizer for the pro's 🤘🏻
That's actually called "Maximus"
I use maximus a looooot tbh. I don't think any of my mashups fail to include it somewhere in the finalized versions
Fun fact: My producer name came from the word Maximus! I was trying to think of the opposite of the opposite of the word Maximus and somehow came up with Negatous instead of minimus and was like "no that's not right... Wait, I kinda like it"
And I'm over here not understanding why OOT is used so much
It's free
Right, but there are tons of free effects plug-ins. Why specifically that one?
Its not like soundgoodizer does same thing (and even better)
I also don't know why soundgoodizer is used so much. I've never found a need for it
Just put it on master of any your songs
Every time I have it sounds better without it
It’s your style, but in more practical context compressor is kind of more advanced and better limiter (doesn’t flatten completely loudness dynamics when it’s over threshold) and multi compressor is generally in most cases even better because it considers loudness in whole spectrum rather just sum of frequencies in loudness (it might be overwhelming, but I guess you will likely find something useful in that more comprehensive info)
Also „fl limiter” is kind of limiter and compressor in one thing (few devices joined)
lmao I have just some hours ago made a video in which I use 100 OTTs

easy for you to say…
for any vcv rack heads out there, you can achieve something like ott by putting two megalomaniac compressors in a row. you have to enable all the bands, spread them out, run the gain envelope outs from one to the band sidechain ins of the other, turn on upwards compression for all the bands on the first one and then fiddle with the threshold and makeup gain
no it’s not easy peasy like ott but if you’re using the free version of vcv rack it’s as good as you’re going to get
I wish I understood what these words mean. One day
no worries man vcv rack is a totally different world. cardinal vst lets you get a taste of what it’s like in fl studio, and cardinal runs a lot smoother also, but vcv rack has literally thousands of modules available. some of them are completely inscrutable. like, if you think some vsts have bad interfaces, imagine if they did it on purpose so that only a mad scientist could ever understand what it does. some modules are like that but luckily not all of them
I love VCV rack. I have no idea what I'm doing with it most of the time but I have a blast playing with the modules and just screwing around outside of the DAW.
Though I do use CardinalFX within FL quite a bit because I really like Plateau and some of the other effects modules. Glad to have both installed.
I used to use vcv rack a lot but ever since reason went to the subscription model I've been using that instead. A lot less complicated at least for me.
Plateau is great but how about prism rainbow?
I haven't played much with it. I'll have to show it some love.
I'm darn near considering buying Pam's Workout. That clock system is cool
i like to think there's someone out there that knows the mixer exists but refuses to use it.
No need really, just make it loud and compress the living soul out of it and you've got a platinum worthy beat (apparently)
15 year old from Atlanta hyperpop
OTT just became the new Soundgoodizer pal
Facts.
ok how much is it
free
Listen, I use OTT on my 808s……game changer 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don't lol I use Maximus and EQ mostly
Me with soundgoodizer
Daria,,, core...
And here I am just wanting my BeatFormer back. Had to reinstall windows recently and didn't realize Accusonus went belly up and I can no longer get something I paid for.
That’s not how you spell soundgoodizer
For real
So true. But the combined result of each track with a slight amount of OTT sounds glued magically
Still haven't gotten ott. Still think I should get it. Still haven't.
I just downloaded it the other day and totally get the hype! I don't even know what I'm doing but I like it!
