I reached ancient 2 days ago and ever since there has been a dramatic shift in match quality. People are good mechanically, but literally worse than heralds in decision making and item builds. Every single game there is a hero that needs a specific item to counter them, and my team just builds damage items like there is no tomorrow. Like a hoodwink that makes mael into daedalus when there is a weaver in the enemy, or a centaur skipping crimson and shiva against a pl, or a void spirit that buys octarine core instead of bkb against an invoker with orchid and a pl who burns his mana out at the start of the fight. Is it only me or is Ancient bracket the worst bracket to be in?
I am getting higher still though, enemies are just as stupid as well

Nah, I'm div2. Ancient and divine brackets are quite decent imo.
Since I started playing again 6 weeks ago, I spent 3 weeks in archon, 3 weeks in legend and only 2 days in ancient. I swear to God people knew the game way better in both archon and legend. They were also able to listen to the calls I made until I make a significantly bad call
You always feel like this when you are tilted even if just a little. I was like this on Divine cause I was so eager to rank up but I keep breaking even so the frustration was slowly building. This was one of the signs, I wasn't ranking up as fast as I would hope.
I am Immortal now, I used to be like that on my first few weeks as Immortal, but I kind of just accepted that some games, some players will not play as better as me, and some games I'm not going to play as better as them.
Don't get me wrong, I went from 5.9k to 5.6k again, but I just accepted the fact that it happens, you win sometimes, you lose sometimes, but you really have to stop pointing a finger every time you lose.
Nope. This happens in every bracket when I climbed from 600 mmr back before medals up to Legend.
Good for you my friend, should be easy to climb higher then if it's such a bad bracket.
Personally I didn't notice such shift.
Legends griefed a Lot more than archons. Crusaders are Nice people, Just bad players. Ancient had more ego than skill.

I climbed from archon to immortal and I think ancient was definitely the worst, the skill gap is insane with some people with 0 laning skills and others who lane like divine but cannot team fight or spell cast to save their lives.. it was definitely frustrating but once you make your way into divine it feels like it evens out and players become more well-rounded
Welcome to hell my friend. It only gets better because once you get to the top of ancient half your games have smurfs and everyone is muted.
I am seriously thinking of doing tactical throws and stay back at legend2-4 XD. How are these people even in that bracket...
What time of day are you playing? Language barriers exist and sometimes voice lines can overcome them.
For me Ancient was the least fun bracket to play in
You can try to ask them to build the items needed, worked for me on ancient rank, still work on higher ranks.
It depends how you do it and sometimes doesn't matter at all if they're already tilted. But if you do it in a prickly way they will likely not build it the whole game just to spite you.
Nope, for me it's kind of a different experience from my legend period. People seem to know better of what they're doing, and I find myself struggling to just do what I've been doing and forced me to play different heroes, less auto piloting, more mindful of item choices, etc.
There's always a variety of communication, griefer here and there but I enjoy it more than legend tbh.
Well, you got the two extremes of hard-stuck Ancients who are rank whales who can't get any higher or you got bored smurfs (who you pray don't suck and are on your team when they are good).
I have no doubt that they are definitely good players who sunk a lot of hours in the game but they just don't focus. Same builds every game, playing for kills, getting into stupid fights and showing in lanes when all enemies are missing etc.
There is no such thing as worse bracket. I say skill issue.
The actual worst bracket is the average mmr. I think it is archon, people are good enough to play but bad enough to autopilot and not adapting. With the map changes and patches, for example they are still not adapting and failed to get wisdom runes or do play around the timing. That rune is second important after the mid power rune. in early game. While mid matchup is 50/50, wisdom rune is 99% yours each. Not to mention the lotus and the portal.
Immortal draft is worse because it's not uncommon to get 4 supports or 4 pos 1, however, they still know how to play the game unlike Ancient. But if you actually manage to win like that then it's only because the enemy team was a bunch of clowns and you are not even happy you won.
