I'm so fed up with Gcash's numerous updates. Imbes na mapadali yung paggamit mo, lalo pang pinapahirap. From multiple OTPs needed to multi-factor auth that you cannot opt out of, my user experience has gone downhill.
Context: Me and my partner are sharing one Gcash account. We live together so it makes sense to only use one account instead of two. Unfortunately, you cannot register one account on multiple devices.
That's so sad considering bank accounts are being shared between cohabitors. If physical giant banks can have this flexibility, why digital banks can't?

GCash is not a digital bank. It is an e-wallet. Learn the difference. Tapos yang shared bank accounts ay joint account, hindi joint ewallet.

I don't ge this OP. How else can they identify/verify that it is actually you? Heck even socmeds try to ask for your number to verify that it is you, how much more that there is money involved.
I'm not sure how to actually verbalize this any better 😭 Yes, they do ask for your number. They have been doing this for the longest time. But socmeds or banks won't ask you to register your actual phone so you can login anywhere.
No, I get what you're trying to say. It's just a digital bank or wallet have limited options to try and verify your identity; at the top of my head it's either your phone number or your email address, both of which is still personal. Bit we'rr arguing semantics and features we feel should be more of a priority so I think we may never agree.
My account just got downgraded to basic account and I'm not allowed to transfer money and stuff. This account is a verified account since 2019 and it's prompting to verify again. So annoying! I use my old iphone with busted cam for gcash and online banking stuff and leave it at home. Now, I have to register and verify gcash in my other phone with a working cam. After verifying using my other phone, I'm also getting the same prompt and cannot open gcash in the other phone. Argh.

No reason. No advisory. It's just forcing me to verify my account again. Until now, 24 hours after I updated my info, Gcash has yet to approve my verification. Nakakapikon.

Nasubukan mo itanong sa customer support nila? Kakacheck ko lang nung akin, yung ID na ginamit ko noon ang hindi na pasok sa policy. Philhealth lang yata ginamit ko dati. PhilSys na ngayon hehe

Naiinis din ako dito kasi dalawa yung phone ko at di ko lagi bitbit pareho. Okay sa akin na verified device lang ang pwede maka-access sa account ko for security purposes pero sana naman may option na kahit hanggang 2 devices man lang ang pwedeng registered at a time.

I know it's for prevention. Pero nakakainis lng na meron na ngang OTP to deter it, tapos may ganito pa.
Bat ka naiinis sa prevention? Kung ayaw mo, you can shift to other ewallets. What makes you think fool proof ang OTP?
Too much "prevention" is counter-productive. Gcash became popular due to its convenience, and now its slowly becoming a shell of its former self. Also, I never said that OTP is fool proof.
Andami dami nagreklamo just last year na gawan ni Gcash ng paraan yung sobrang daming scammers. Kaya siguro naghihigpit sila ngayon.
Oo nakakainis na andaming bagong security protocols pero napapansin ko naman may learning algorithm si Gcash.
For example, yung mga accounts ng mga tindahan or karinderya na pinupuntahan ko, hindi na ako hinhingan ng OTP pag sa kanila ako mag eexpress send. Siguro kasi alam na talaga ni Gcash na legit yun.
Agree ako dito just because na experience ko na to. My phone na 4 yrs na is no longer working. Ilang beses ko na din pina ayos this year and nung sinabi nila na hindi na talaga maayos, I decided to buy a new phone but I was so heartbroken eto yung nakita ko. Registered to old device and the only way to log in to the bew device is to remove the registered device sa old device. Pano ko magagawa yon if di na nga ma on???
Send multiple emails and expressed my frustrations, tumawag nadin ako customer service and hindi padin nila na fix yung issue ko kahit nag send nako selfie ko with valid id kasi need daw. Pero wla padin. Swear sa monday ipapa close ko na gcash account ko ba!

hindi naman ito new update. matagal na sa aking ganito. sad nga lang, my gcash is installed sa two of my phones so i can use it simultaneously, pero ngayon i have to only download it to one.
what i did is i maintained the app doon sa phone ko with a different number. so if i have to use it, i use my phone with the app and the OTP will be sent to my other phone. the same way i have been dealing with my online banking
It was a new update to me. It was only yesterday that we were forced to register our phone 😭

Unregistered my partner's phone and registered mine. Solved the prob for us.

Ganito din nangyare sa gcash ko. Ilang emails na sinend ko sa kanila and tumawag pako sa customer service pero wla pa din. No action. Fortunately, nakuha ko pa last balance ko and use it to pay the bills just now lang. I will call on Monday cguro to close my account of wla padin sila action.

I already reformated the other phone that has the gcash account. But when i login to gcash in my new phone. I can't because of that. How do i fix this. Hahayssss

I have 2 phones. Android and iOS. Yung naka-register lang is yung 15PM. Sana may option to register a 2nd phone kase primary ko talaga S24U pero dahil sa Face ID, lahat ng bank apps and GCash, nasa 15PM then yung mga daily apps naka install sa both phones, and yung mga sideloaded apps, well, nasa S24U.
If ma-implement nila yung ganyan, sana lahat ng banking apps ganyan din. May main tapos may option for 2nd device or 3rd device kung mayaman ka man at marami kang cellphone.

Sa trabaho ko ganyan din naman, madaming security gate para ma access mga account ng client ko. Ayaw niyo nun, kahit hindi tayo malaking accounts e inaalagaan parin tayo ni Gcash?
Try mo mag Clear Data ng GCash App. Then sasabihin sayo na you cannot login because your GCash account is already registered to another phone.
Same din pag na deadboot yung phone mo bigla and/or na uninstall yung app na yun accidentally.
Technical issue naman to hindi security feature.
Nakakainis talaga kung aksidente lang ma dead battery phone mo (tama ba, yun ba sinasabi mo sa "deadboot"?) e bigla mo na di magagamit Gcash mo....
Pero parang hindi naman dapat yan nangyayare so problema na yan na need nilang ayusin.
Iba naman yung sinasabi ko na totoong mga security features na sadyang ginawa ni Gcash para makaiwas sa scam.
Deadboot = Di na ma start yung phone due to hardware defect, like CPU Malfunction na tulad sa nangyari sa Poco X3/M3.

Hiningi number ko tsaka name para iverify yung account. Tapos tinaong ako regarding sa issue ko. After a while may natanggap akong OTP. Hiningi din nila yung OTP para daw maupdate yung account ko and maayos nila issue ko.
Haha dun ko lang narealize na scam pala. Sabi ko di ko bibigay OTP tapos bigla ako naka block na agad sa kanila.
Ayan, di na effective mga scam na yan ngayon kasi di na nila basta basta magagamit account ko sa phone nila.

Maganda talaga yung layunin niyan lalo na if na uninstall/na clear data yung GCash mo, as long as nag match talaga yung Model/Info/IMEI ng phone mo na naka register sa GCash sa phone mo, dapat mag login na siya without saying na may naka register nang phone sa account. Meaning, ayusin nila sana yung implementation niyan, or yung customer support nila tulad sa mga bangko.
I reformat my phone because I was planning to give it to one my siblings, sadly I forgot to Unregister my gcash account on that phone, my question is, is it still possible to log in my account on that phone even tho it's already formated? hopefully someone can answery question, I'm just really stressed out right now. 😭
Same issue, OP. I have 3 phones and unfortunately, one of those three is broken. It was also a registered device to my gcash account. All of my phones are registered tp my gcash account and few days before, this prompt appeared when I tried to open my account.

No, I haven't. My partner has unregistered his account on his phone so I can register to mine. Thankfully, we have GrabPay too so I just basically transfer funds to him whenever needed.
IMO, look for other E-wallets nlng since Gcash is becoming sooo inconvenient.
