If the POBO has final say in b-ball decisions, who did Weaver have to go through for approval?Discussion

Was this ever explained? Was it Gores, Tellum , a magic 8 ball?

Or was this how the “too many cooks in the kitchen” narrative came about.

Hopefully Langdon truly has full authority to do what he wants.

Who is more likely to develop a 3 pointer?

It seems like you can't really play these two together because they don't command any shooting gravity. Everyone hopes Ausar gets up to something respectable, like 30-32%.

My question is, is Duren being dismissed as developing a 3 pointer? He has upped his FT% to 79%, so I feel like there is at least some shooting foundation there. He has also mentioned he takes them in practice (this might be a joke). Meanwhile, Ausar has never had a good 3Pt or FT% so what can we really hang our hats on here?

This is the same organization that turned Stewart into a 38% 3PT shooter, so who knows right?

The obvious precedent is Brook Lopez who didn't become a 3PT shooter for 8 seasons, but now is a good one. Myles Turner also took a few seasons to develop a 3PT shot, too.

Hopefully Langdon isn't blind and explores all avenues for spacing.

Question about Isiah Thomas's wrist injury during the 1990-91 seasonDiscussion

I know Isiah had surgery on his right wrist in late-January of that year, and his season was supposed to be over. I know he came back anyway, but my question is about how/when the injury happened.

Was the primary injury a break that happened in January, or was he playing with an injured wrist throughout the season up to that point at which time he finally got surgery because something further/worse happened to it? I ask because the write-up for this video seems to indicate it's the latter, but I had always assumed it was all from something that happened mid-season.

Hear me out, how about we go after a coach that’s young with something to proveDiscussion

Monty Williams history shows he’s not a BAD coach per se, but because he already had that record of winning he had no reason to try to win. I think history would repeat itself if we go after any other “legacy” type of coaches who have a history of winning; they wouldn’t care about winning here because they know they will get another job almost instantly (watch how quickly Monty is in talks for other jobs if/when we let him go)

I think one of the ways to make sure we have someone who is willing to try is to go after a young or damn near rookie coach who would have something to prove. A coach who doesn’t behave like he has years to make something happen but knows he needs this team to show growth and improvement ASAP because if he is fired the chances of him getting hired elsewhere are low.

What do you guys think? Worth the risk or should we go with an established coach and roll the dice on making the same mistake twice?

I know this is a stupid question. Discussion

What stops the pistons from hiring a new head coach and forcing Monty to sit on the bench with him as he watches someone coach the team better than him?

This new front office is walking into a great scenario; cap flexibility and lots of young talent. There is no excuse for them to mess up the long term structure of this team. Discussion

They essentially get to make whatever type of team they want and have all the resources needed to do so.

They pretty much have all their draft picks, the most cap space in the league, a very promising guard, and lots of young talent.

This is the best way you can dream of starting as a GM. You also have an owner who is willing to spend as much money as you want.

Is Monty next? Discussion

Feels amazing we finally parted with weaver. Do y’all think Monty is next here soon? If we do move on from Monty, who do you all want to replace him with?

After watching the playoffs, Duren has a long way to goDiscussion

If you look at the big men in the playoffs, I am not sure the pathway for Duren to become a center in a playoff contender.

  • Jokic, I mean..
  • Gobert is a HOF defender
  • Porzingis/Horford/Turner can stretch the floor with 3s and they can defend
  • KAT is one of the best shooting big men of all time
  • Even Lively is a better player (imo) than Duren right now as a rim protector and finisher

Does anyone else see what I'm seeing? You can't even use the "Duren is only 20 years old" excuse because Lively is younger than he is. Just hope Langdon can fire Monty and hire some real developmental coaches. You could say this with a lot of young guys on this team, but I wanted to talk about Duren specifically.
