I get the subreddit, but like some of y’all are just negative haters…It’s ok to not love all 3 hours of a show without being disrespectful
I don’t even know if I’ll ever be on Reddit again
It’s a good conversation and I’m glad we’re having it
It’s also okay to simply not analyze the show every goddamn day. Just listen or don’t. I lost my emotion connection with the show.
I’m a simple man now: I listen when I have time, I hear Jeremy’s voice, and I turn it off.
Same. I lost interest but like to come to this sub for the show bits.
Haven't listened to the show in ages, but I'm gettin to em!
It’s not the same. But they really do feel like friends and I enjoy listening to them
It's okay to criticize people who go on air for 3 hours every day and criticize other people.
They release 50+ hours of content a week.
It’s also okay to let a 5 minute segment you didn’t like go without needing to cry about it on the sub.
5 minute segment
I'd say it's about 4 years of shows actually
If you’ve straight up hated the last 4 years of the show then wtf are you even still listening for? You just flat out don’t like it at that point
50+ hours? I don't think so.
The main podcast is less than ten hours a week and it's their only daily show.
Not really the point.
Between oddball, nothing personal, mystery crate, PTFO and every other show it’s a lot of content.
Except the crew in Miami have nothing to do with Nothing Personal tmk. David has always had his own crew for it.
None of that is relevant to my point.
They release a lot of content weekly. People don’t need to come here and complain every time they don’t like a segment. Just listen to something else they’ve released.
Indeed, as OP said. But for that to be ALL you do every single day? Not "you" specifically but hot damn a lot of dudes just love to hate comment on every single show thing in this sub.
I'd say that is me mostly. I hate like 80% of the time on here tbh.
Sorry I’m not gonna apologize for that
Crying real crocodile tears.
Ohhhh you thought that Reddit is not on the internet 💁🏻♂️
You don’t get the sub.
It's okay to be disrespectful. Who are you to tell anyone what to say? Dude, I've listened to the show for over 10 years. It's not the same and has changed for the worse.
Just odd that you gotta still gotta come in here and whine about it so damn much. I used to be a big Bill Simmons fan, am not anymore and can't imagine spending time day after day complaining about it; I just stopped consuming his stuff. I tried McAfee, not into it, I'm not gonna waste time crying in that sub about what they could do better. It's just bizarre how much time a lot of people spend here writing essays about how much they hate a podcast no one is forcing them to listen to.
I think it's kind of apples and oranges. I wouldn't complain about McAfee because I don't have a history with the show, so I have no referent metric/expectation to use for any criticism. And I wouldn't really participate on sub on a show I no longer listen to, like a few political podcasts I no longer listen to because their quality decreased and the people themselves became more radical/doomers--so no point in complaining about someone's ideology.
DLS is a bit different. Most of the people with constructive criticisms on the subreddit have listened for 6+ years (over 10 for me) and still *want* to listen and still *want* it to not be taken under by all of the athletes coming for all of the gambling money. But many of us are concerned when we see some signs of waning popularity (e.g., non-Apple ratings) that correlate with this sub's criticisms of the show that are often never addressed by the show. Like the thread under the throwback video posted highlighted the number of things that have changed for the show that they have some control over. Sure they don't have to do ESPN reads, but one out of the 5-7 people in the SC can't make a rundown to emulate that same content? For example, it would take me less than 20 minutes to search for random news and come up with an, "annndddd.. finally, scientist say... xyz.. .hmm, wonder what they mean by that?" That's 3-10 minutes of non-rehashed content every hour that could bring something brand new every day and provide more content for when they interview, "did you know that scientist say xyz?".
But all of that is to say, a show that doesn't respond to fair criticism of their fans are in danger more now that ever. DLS has one thing other pods don't have-- higher switching costs because of the psycho/emotional attachment long time listeners have with the show and the people of the show. But once that is lost, they reallllllyyyyy have to hope new listeners are as loyal.
It is What it Is is running into that same issue. They keep doing Zoom shows and people are pretty livid about it and let them know that they are livid about it because the quality significantly decreases when they aren't in studio. They at least acknowledge it as if they care about what their fans say lol But I wouldn't be surprised if they start losing fans because of it unless they are more open about why they are taking zoom days and hope people are understanding. Now I'm a rambling man, but the point is, it's so weird that people find criticism to be odd when every show and every sub is pretty much the same lol
We complain with the hope that the show may listen to criticism and change. We love this show and have listened for years. That's why I assume many complain here. Alas, nobody from the show cares. Oh well, I still do.
Fair enough.
Disrespectful is an insane word to use. They do a podcast, and many of them take themselves way too seriously. They don’t need any more reverence than the cult diehards already give them
But it's appropriate. This sub takes itself waaaayyyy more seriously than than the silly whimsical podcast, and feels its deserves a voice to be heard, just to cry like bitches. The definition of taking yourself too seriously.
And if I was Jeremy, I would have been sent the goons on some of yall ass. Job be dammed, my name is my name. ME, personally, I would put paws on people if they disrespect me like they do Jeremy
If you’ve only been on reddit for 11 days, how do you know so much about this sub?
1st time, long time. Regardless, enough about me..... why do you feel the need to cry and have us share in your suffering? You don't think we got our own shit going on? Why would anybody care about how YOU feel about a comedian or Dan using his platform in a way that matters to him, especially with them being successful for so long, and especially BECAUSE HE"S PAID FOR IT! I didn't see any of you starting go fund me's for Chris Cote.
Entitlement is disgusting
Oh so you mean you got banned from Reddit for being a troll so you had to make a new account?
I couldn’t care less about what you think about what I post here.at least I’m not a troll who has to make a new account every month.
Salute to you from me and Juju, but.....
😂
Disrespectful? Dude, have you MET me? I don't respect anyone.
Can’t have disrespect if you never had respect.
Heady play.
It's a bit
That kinda thing!
People act like every hour was good during the espn days. They weren't.
Bingo
You don’t get the sub!!!
It’s also okay to not love the comments and just move along. People can complain. It’s no different from loving the Dolphins, cheering on a good game, then seeing a coach make a bonehead call and saying “ this dude sucks ass”. It’s okay, man.
The way I see it, there’s both constructive, detailed criticism and just pure hating going on here. Plenty of both to go around.
While the Meadowlark experience on the main show certainly hasn’t been as good as their peak 790/ESPN days, I’ve been happy with the shows over the last couple weeks.
Oh boy then you wouldn’t enjoy sports subs then
Some of us like the show, some of us like posting about how it’s not as good now to bother you. If you don’t like when that happens don’t read the posts. I see what I did there.
This guy doesn't get it.
That's why I call it performative negativity: I refuse to believe that adults don't know how to be critical of something they don't like without being dicks, so they must be putting on a show for somebody's benefit.
These comments are ridiculous and prove your point. Eventually you just tune them out
without being disrespectful
Counterpoint: It's reddit. That's why 90% of the people are here.
It has been going downhill & I do not align with "liberal" stuff, but I still go 2 it daily while I'm at work. Sorta in my routine. I skip a segment here and there...I think it's fair 2 say the show is better during the NFL season
It's also ok to be disrespectful
Go back to your Pro Palestine rally
Some jackass always gotta make everything about their own political bullshit
"I know the super fans of the show on reddit don't like when I post a negative comment... But it seems like every time I do there is more engagement. So, here's my negative comment critiquing the show" ::types long negative comment::
I joke... But I should say, I kind of agree with you. I post a lot of seemingly "negative comments" but I just made a post praising Alley Oop and it got no engagement 🤣🤣🤣 and I mostly only critique Dan and sometimes Mike because that's punching up on the people who 1. Have the most decision making responsibilities and power and 2. Are the most critical people on the show who are 90% negative with their commentary on mostly anything other than UM.
But some of the personal attacks on people like Jeremy, Tony for a while, Jess, and Lucy are pretty bad sometimes relative to how often they actually speak.
Your post about Alley Oop got no engagement because I’m guessing people disagree with you. People seem to like JuJu on here and seem unwilling to criticize any of the stuff he puts out, which includes his terrible gambling advice.
Just so we are clear, I'm mostly making a meta joke about Dan's recent quote saying he knows the fans hate him talking about media but apparently his engagement goes up when he does. I don't actually care about engagement on reddit lol
That being said, the larger point is could the OP imagine this reddit if it was nothing but positive posts? It would die lol
Positivity is the kryptonite of any social network
OP, I hear ya, but complaining on this sub won't help. Some people on here are literally just interested in pooping in your cereal.
The best thing to do is just roll your eyes in the background or leave the sub.
The all the Panthers talk, Jesus 🤦🏽♂️
not for these bozos
Same note too
Guys I'd like to apologize for any negativity on this sub, I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run
